Delicious ice cream with lots of yummy options! The inside is very cute and prices are fair. Service is always great and they let you sample all you want before you choose!

I’m always confused about the hours of operation at Goody’s. Sometimes it’s open and same day/same time it is closed. Ice Cream: Good variety of different flavors to select from. Advice don’t ask for the coconut based ice cream because it comes from a carton that can be bought at Stop and Shop. :(I was very surprised to see this. Prices: The price is average. I slightly think it is a bit more than most other places but nothing to complain about.

A good selection of choices at a decent price. I grew up in Stratford but live in Boston now, and their prices seem more in line with a city ice cream shop rather than a main street independent hole in the wall. I’ve had a few of the ice creams over the years, all of which have been delicious. Creamy and rich with a perfect temperature and consistency. Toppings are few, but they have multiple types of cones and cups to choose from. Definitely worth a stop. Not the sort of place you might be able to frequent due to the pricing, but it’s probably one of the best ice cream locations in town.

Great little ice cream shop that oozes with local history. I love the way the building is decorated — vintage without the run down look of some other ice cream shops. We enjoy the selection of flavors; you also have to try the ice cream pumpkin pie come Thanksgiving time. It was a great addition to the town center!

Best ice cream place in town! Excellent staff and awesome location. Love the home town feel. While dq and the others are ok, if you want quality and value this is the spot. Somebody here cares about what they do!!! Damn I want goodie bassets now! Try the dipped waffle cones! To die for !!

Pluses: It’s hard to tell how truly young this spot is due to the wonderfully executed vintage décor. Their Stratford enthusiasm is infectious enough to piqué my curiosity about Stratford history — and they have a great story behind their name. Deltas: Selecting among many options, I ordered a scoop of Coffee Oreo and a scoop of Moose Tracks, which came recommended, with hot fudge. It tasted like mediocre commercial ice cream. Definitely not homemade. I might as well have gotten some Breyers from the store. That’s not a compliment. Meh.

Visited with a friend who praised this place and it’s unique flavors… I’m glad I tagged along and visited this nostalgic ice cream parlor. I went with three different scoops for my sundae… If I recall correctly, I went with Cookie Monster, Espresso ripple, and a crunchy PB flavor. They have a wide range of flavors to choose from, along with a bunch of toppings(not to mention a decadent hot fudge). The sundae I got was the three scoop offering that came with diced pineapples, strawberries, sliced bananas, and of course that hot fudge… The flavors melded together beautifully and was surprisingly light compared to some of the other ice creams you’ll find in supermarkets. I didn’t get the manager’s name, but he was a delight, and even enlightened us on the history of Stratford and the surrounding towns. Will definitely visit Goody Bassett’s the next time I’m in the area… They have a nine scoop sundae that’s calling my name!

Quaint little spot. decorated perfectly for an ice cream shop. Nice display of flavors. nothing exotic; however the WATERMELON sherbert is devine. The prices are reasonable. Stop by and check it out for yourself. It’s close to the Stratford train station.

I use to think that Stratford was a gastronomic wasteland. I then visited Goody Bassetts. As soon as I walked into the door, I knew that I was in for a treat. I smelled waffles being made in the back by a pleasant girl with black hair, glasses, and a half-sleeve tattoo and an aroma that I believe was fudge. The store has an assortment of different deliciously looking treats, but I was in the mood for ice cream. I tried a couple of flavors before settling on the maple and walnut ice cream in a waffle bowl. I can’t formulate the correct words to describe how I felt after eating the ice cream. Let’s just say that it was magical. Thank you Gods of gastronomy for the gift of Goody Bassetts. I will be back.

I wanted to love this place because of the weird name and history, but don’t. I’ve been twice, and even though I really enjoyed the flavor of the Coffee Oreo ice cream, I didn’t appreciate the texture of freezer damage and ice crystals. And their hot fudge was weird, like almost gooey. I gave it another try, and went back a month later. Same thing. I have to assume that since they don’t have enough business that the ice cream is old and freezer burned. I can’t pay for ice cream that is gross.

Tasty ice cream with some stand out seasonal choices(Pumpkin in fall, peppermint stick in winter). A definite Stratford destination.

There are a lot of reproduction prints, posters and other material paying homage to Stratford’s heritage here, with special emphasis on poor Goody Bassett. Her alleged witchcraft lives on in this eponymous ice cream shoppe, with the trick being played on this ice cream lover and his wallet. I really wanted to like this place more than I did, particularly given the great reviews you see here. I ordered two small cups after referring to the cups stacked behind the counter. Surely, the miniscule cup furthest to the right was the«baby» size cup, I thought to myself. It’s big enough to hold a grocery store cupcake. Sadly, this is actually the«small,» in which two plum-sized scoops were placed and for which I paid $ 3.25 apiece. While the ice cream was being scooped, I asked who made the ice cream for them and the reply was simply that it was made privately. Given that it comes out of large white cartons, I didn’t get the impression that it’s a small batch kind of place. Probably a local or regional dairy. Maple walnut was okay. Pumpkin was not creamy at all — quite airy and gritty which made for unpleasant texture. Also, just an aside: it is unpleasant to eat out of a styrofoam cup — I’m kind of surprised anyone still uses this material. They need to step up their game. My total of $ 6.91 can buy a larger quantity of much better ice cream elsewhere — even Shake Shack charges less for an entire pint of their delicious frozen custard. Likewise, a pint(well…14 oz.) of Häagen-Dazs, which I consider the gold standard of commercial ice cream, can be had for $ 3 – 4. Sorry, Goody. Nice place, pleasant staff, but the devil really is in the details: product and pricing.

I give them 5 stars because they support my eating habits, and make me happy. Non-dairy ice cream on any given day. Oh, and the fact that they are open during the winter is also appreciated.

You can’t beat Goody Bassett’s ice cream in the summer. Every flavor I have tried has been great. The service is friendly and quick. Great way to end the night if you’re eating at any of the restaurants across the street.
