Not even joking, best Chinese food I have had! It tastes home made — not too salty and always cooked to perfection. Their homemade duck sauce is amazing! I definitely recommend Hong Kong Café. Working in Stratford and having this place near by for a treat is such a great thing! The staff is super friendly, too!

I have to say that the food tasted much fresher than most, but I found it lacked flavor and substance. It could be that I’m just used to cheap high sugar fattening Chinese. If you’re looking for healthier takes on the classic, this would be a good place!

It was Christmas Day, and though it is somewhat of a cliché, we wanted to eat. Not fast food.* We were waiting for a friend to return from her family holiday dinner, and then we would join her at her house… * I am a food service professional, and do not eat junk! My(ex) significant other and I(we are still friends) stopped at Hong Kong Café. To my surprise, we were not alone in the dining room and once the food arrived, holiday or not, I could see why. Fresh, appealing, not greasy, delicately sauced, interesting flavors… Service was attentive, without being intrusive. The décor was understated, but comfortable, and pleasantly added to the dining experience. The dining area is small, intimate without feeling cramped. As a non-meat eater, there were enough selections to satisfy me. However, the real surprise was my ex’s meal… His entrée which had meat and seafood, had a sauce that was so good, I was dipping my veggies and tofu into it, without a moments hesitation.(AND I NEVERTOUCH A PLATEWITHMEATWITHINITSCONTENTS!) I highly recommend this restaurant for the quiet ambiance, and truly delicate(but hearty portioned) fare. I am sorry we did not discover it sooner, but we will return.

Really love this place. The food is so fresh and delicious and the people as nice as can be. The restaurant is old fashioned looking, not glam in any way, but it has its charms, kind of like stepping back in time.

I stopped here twice during a three day stay in town. I kind of stumbled upon this place late at night after an eleven hour car ride. I wanted warm food but nothing fast food. Take out Chinese food typically falls into a fast food-ish category and normally never feels particularly healthy, but this place surprised me. I ordered garlic shrimp once and something spicier with shrimp the second(forgive me, I’ve been on the road for days and my brain is fried). I was pleased with how fresh and yes, healthy, this tasted. I don’t know that an actual nutrition label would prove this to be the healthiest dish in town, but it did not taste oily, once frozen, or over done. I didn’t feel like crap after eating it and though I love comfort Chinese take out food, I almost never feel great about my body after eating it. My only complaint was the shrimp to vegetable ratio. I could have used like three to four more shrimp. The flavor and sauce was good, though the spicy dish was not at all spicy for my taste. However, when I ate up the shrimp and had only vegetables left over, I found it hard to finish as it just tasted too boring without a protein. Again, it was good but just lacked something. When I order spicy, I really want to feel a burn. I don’t need mouth on fire pain, just a sensation to know that yes, this is spicy. I didn’t get that. It tasted more like someone sprinkled some red pepper flakes over it at the end as an after thought and not as an intentional component of the flavor profile. I can’t testify to other dishes but on my second visit noted a table of four all eating a variety of dishes-and they all look well done and freshly made. If I’m ever up in Stratford again, looking for a quick meal that doesn’t leave me bloated and with regret, I will come again.

This place has been operating for 17 years, according to the lady owner. She was nice and I was waiting for my food outside the restaurant, she came out side to let I know the food was ready for pick up… The food, you get what you paid for, but the warmth of the owner and staff, it’s what make the return business… hope they will read this and keep the service part… it’s this differentiation that will keep them open for longer…

This gem is THEBEST Chinese food I have ever had! Always Fresh! Always delicious! And the General Tsos chicken is crispy and made with White Meat chicken! The owner is always present. My guess, that’s why it’s soooooo good!

They’re pretty good. Not the best, but definitely the best in Stratford. They are very friendly, I usually get take. out, but you can dine in as well. Some. of my favorites are the Chicken with String Bean(spicy), their. chicken noodle soup(lots of vegetables), Orange Beef. and Garlic. Shredded Beef. Their. chicken wings are mighty tasty.

Amazing food. Best in the area. Always fresh and delicious. It is consistently delicious. Some people say, «a little overpriced» but you are paying just a little bit more for food that is 10x times better than any other local restaurants. Well worth the money, and fast too!

What a great spot! Open 16 years in Stratford says something! Been going here for all 16 and so have many others. I don’t know a whole lot about authentic Chinese but I never have a bad meal here. Good price beautiful intimate seating and lovely staff. Why not 5 stars you may ask? again I don’t know enough about Chinese food to say it’s perfect but God/Buddha knows it’s close. No matter what I get I also order the Shanghai noodles because I simply can’t help it.

This place is a rip off! You’re only given two choices of rice, white or brown, with your meal. If you would like a different kind you have to pay for it separately while still receiving the rice that already comes with your meal. What a waste of food & money!

I’m new to this area and have been trying different take out restaurants. I don’t need to look any further. Terrific Chinese food. The moo shu shrimp was the best I’ve ever had. Everything we ordered was delicious.

Great, fresh Chinese food! Ate here with the recommendation of fellow Unilocalers having been out of town for 8 years, and was not disappointed. My wife had the house special chow mei fun, everything was fresh, and vegetables were cooked perfectly. Shrimp was not over cooked life most places. I had a few appetizers and everything was great from the egg rolls to Rangoon.
