We checked in to our room on Sunday night planning to have to eat in town. It was a pleasant surprise to find out that the chef decided decided to stay and cook dinner for the couple of guests that had checked in that afternoon. We sort of felt bad that all that work went into dinner for ourselves and one more couple but it was nice that we did not have to drive elsewhere. My wife had the fish and I had fried chicken. Both meals were filling and flavorful. We both had a dessert. We both thought the Peach Crumble was better than the Ice Cream Pie but both were good. My only wish is that we had been served some bread or rolls with the meal but if we had we might have missed the nice desserts. The next morning we had a buffet breakfast. The scrambled eggs were great and even being in the steam table they were still moist and hot. The biscuits were great and the grits were the best my wife has had in a long time. Coffee and Juice in abundance and nobody rushed us to finish. We spoke to the chef and found out he has only been there a short time and is slowly moving toward using more local produce and meats. I know the grits were ground local and the peaches for last night’s dessert were grown local. Both were extra fresh so it appears that he is on the right track. We look forward to another good breakfast in the morning. My wife wants his Grits Recipe!

Fresh, local food served in an attractive dining room on the old Lee Family estate. A very pleasant interlude. Homemade desserts, friendly service. If you are in this area, see the estate and drop in.

Stopped by for brunch after visiting the Plantation, which we enjoyed. Turns out they only had a buffet on Sundays, which offered three kinds of meat but only one vegetable, which was the greasiest green bean I’ve ever eaten. Everything was greasy, the kind of greasiness that made me want to wash my face when I left. At least the servers were pleasant and the sweet tea was nice. A very rustic atmosphere. I know there isn’t much around here, but do yourself a favor and keep looking.

Fresh local veggies, original entrees, amazing homemade desserts! Finding this sophisticated restaurant well off the beaten path and surrounded by woods on an historic plantation was a true delight. The roasted lamb with mushrooms was seasoned with something magical. And the huge dinner salad topped with a superb crab cake was to die for. Next I plan to get the rabbit, or the quail, or the trout. I want it all!
