I like the food at this French bistro. What needs to be corrected is timing of food served. Recently went with a large group on a quieter week night. Three were served entrees. Fifteen minutes later three others served entrees. Twenty minute later three others served entrees. The beef bourginon and coq au vin are good. But that way of serving is not acceptable. I hope the chef will find a way.

Half the meal was delicious but the filet mignon was served cold. The kitchen then overcooked it. Obviously a bad cut of meat but no apology or other consideration. Very disappointed

Top 5 restaurants in the Poconos. Ambiance is beautiful, wait staff is attentive, the owner is highly visible and engaging(love her), great portions, consistent comfort French food. My go to for out of town visitors, their brunch is a must for Easter and Mother’s Day. You must leave room for the crepes or crème brûlée. YUM! I have never left disappointed, only excited to come back.

I can say this simply: The prices were incredibly reasonable; the service was deeply attentive but completely courteous and well-timed. And we ordered three appetizers, two entrees, and two desserts, and every single dish was perfect. Everything was beautifully balanced; everything was cooked precisely as described; each individual dish was a little masterpiece. I am literally planning my vacations around attempting to get to this restaurant more often. No joke.

Brought my wife here for our anniversary. They definitely know what they’re doing insofar as execution of solid French cuisine. My advice? Ditch the frozen potatoes for the steak frites and go with fresh cut; you just can’t beat the difference. But that’s it. Perfect place for dressing up, calling the sitter, and going out for a well prepared French meal.

A few friends and I were on a skiing/snowboarding trip and we went to camelback, elk and jack big boulder. To be equi-distance we stayed at the Hampton inn in stroudsburg. After a full day of skiing we wanted to go to a nice restaurant and we decided to come here. The cuisine is French and the food is amazing. I had the chicken risotto and chicken was very tasteful without it being overpowering. One of my friends had the steak and it was one of the best ever. This place is a BYOB so do keep that in mind since we wanted some wine and we weren’t able to get any! Also they have large portions so do keep that in mind while ordering.

One of the finer intimate dining restaurants in Stroudsburg. Excellent French bistro food and service in a simple yet slightly overlite setting. Every meal I had here was delicious and fresh. If your tired of loud pubs, sports bars or burger joints and want to go on a date or just have a quality meal, this is it! BYOB

The food was delicious! Very cute environment and the waitress was very sweet! My husband and I visited from out of town and saw the reviews on Unilocal and decided to try it out! For appetizers the butternut squash soup and escargot were great! And our main dishes which were beef and vegetables were hearty and delicious! Definitely worth trying!

What a great place to dine in Stroudsburg! This is the only French restaurant in the area and provides you a wondeful experience. It is a family owned restaurant with family members hosting, serving, and cooking. THEBESTFRENCHONIONSOUP I EVERHAD! Yummy! A must! Their Squash Bisque is excellent too! The soup portions are huge and could be a meal itself. The appetizer selections are great — salads, seafood, etc. I personally recommend the Shrimp Salsa Avocado. Excellent and refreshing. Scallops and beet salad were enjoyable as well. Entrees: Coq au vin — the best I ever had. Made perfectly. The dish is suppose to be made with rooster vs. a hen. I do not know what they use, but it was delicious. The Chicken with risotto — one of my favorites. The Filet Mignon was cooked perfectly, just as good as a steak from a steakhouse. Desserts: Request ahead of time for a few special dishes, especially the soufflee. The crème brûlée was excellent. The chocolate mousse was alright, but I would get the crème brûlée instead. Reservations are accepted for both lunch and dinner on OpenTable. Small boutique restaurant so large groups plan accordingly. Parking — meter/street parking only until 6pm. Dress code: Casual, but would feel better if dressed Smart Casual

This place was average. There isn’t really such a thing as bad french food. I remember getting a salad– definitely-endive and pear WITHWALNUTS– but I also got escargot. It must not have left an impression on me, because I LOVE escargot.(I’m an escargot snob.) I know that french places are pricy. but this places’ quality vs location + service didn’t equal a totally appropriate price, in my opinion. I wish I got something more besides just salad & an apptz, but I wasn’t very hungry on this day. The food was good. I tried some of my BF’s steak(filet?) and that was good, too. We knew this place was BYOB… nice. I thought the service was lacking. She never checked up on us after my salad/his filet showed up & the girl/waitress seemed ‘annoyed’ we were talking, drinking and taking so long… IN A COMPLETELYEMPTYPLACE besides us. She gave off a weird vibe. Oh… and the music on in this place was way too loud. I could barely hear my bf talking inches away. The atmosphere wasn’t right when I went, but the food was good– not great. and not the best french I’ve ever had… but good.

Owner and her daughter, the waitress/hostess, are friendly and pleasant. Butternut squash soup(it has cheese in it!) is delicious. Escargot is fantastic. Steak frite is amazing. Chocolate mousse is the best I’ve ever had from a restaurant. Atmosphere is homey, but it still feels almost upscale.

Thank You Unilocal reviewers! Because of the reviews here we booked dinner when my daughter had a soccer tournament in the area. My standard for local French Bistro would be Madame Claude’s in Chilltown and Le Persil certainly delivered. The escargots were absolutely delicious, swimming in garlic-basil butter. My Steak Frite was perfect medium-rare and the meat wasn’t your ordinary grocery cut, it tasted like it was dry-aged premium NYC steakhouse beef. My daughter had the beef stew in red wine, very good, and my wife had the scallop appetizers and crab cakes entrée, definitely hand-made. A true gem in the Poconos. BYOB.

French in Stroudsburg? Probably terrible. WRONG! I wish I had known this place was BYOB before I got there. Still Awesome! The butternut squash soup is a must! Second to none. The scallops are great too. I had the steak with fries. Massive portions. The steak was grilled which was a little unfrench(in addition to their French heritage, the chefs are also half Chilean) but delicious. I also had the Risotto entrée with chicken. Yes, I’m a fatty. I’d spent the day skiing so I was famished. I liked it better than the steak. It wasn’t overwhelming like risotto can be in many places. Manifique! Do yourself a favor and go.

i cannot express how happy i was with our experience at le persil. in planning for our tiny wedding, i was having trouble finding a place that could accommodate my needs for a dinner afterward until we found le persil. i first spoke to the owner’s daughter who was so pleasant and helpful… she connected us with her mother jovita is who absolutely one of the sweetest people in the world! we had a private party at the restaurant which was amazing-we had the place to ourselves to celebrate and it was lovely. so first-the service is incredible. it is a small, family operation so if you have a large party you must be patient. it is byob and i definitely suggest doing so! everyone in our party loved their meals. there are several options for vegetarians, too. i had the roasted beet salad and the creamy risotto with parmesan and they were both outta this world. pro-tip: a few of the desserts require fancy ingredients and extra prep time so if you’re dying to try one and plan on visiting, call ahead to order. i had the chocolate mousse which was seriously mind bending but i tried a few of the other ones and they were delicious as well. jovita went well above and beyond in many ways to ensure that our evening was perfect. i really can’t say enough good things about the food, the service, and our overall experience. highly highly recommended. really wonderful for a private function but it would be fantastic for a sweet little date night too. A+, can’t wait to go back!

GETOUTOFTOWN and visit this place! I frequent Main Street Stroudsburg about once a month. I first noticed Le Persil during the day because of its BYOB sign, which is common among Philadelphia-area restaurant establishments. Knowing I’d be heading up to Stroudsburg again for the weekend, I decided to investigate Le Persil further, so I came here to Unilocal where I was happy to read positive reviews about the food and decided to give it a whirl. We arrived for our«linner» around 4pm. We had no reservation but were warmly greeted by the woman who we later learned was the proprietor. I LOVE talking to restaurant owners because you can learn so much about what caused them to go into the restaurant business and other things about their history, their cuisine, their kitchen and more. Before I disclose all this(and perhaps I shan’t because I think you would enjoy learning this for yourself), I have to say that the food was SUPERB! We had a full 3 ½ course meal with appetizer, entrée, sides and a shared dessert, and nothing wasn’t worth recommending. The butternut squash soup was super-divine, with rich unadulterated butternut squash flavor coming through. The beet salad was light yet elegant with its perfect lemon vinaigrette. For entrees, we paired each with an a la carte side dish(totally worth ordering). We shared Risotto de Poulet(rich, heavenly, with out-of-this world chicken pieces) and Bouef Bourgiugnon a L’Ancienne(fork-tender beef pieces cured with bacon, red wine, salt and a decadent mushroom-onion-butter sauce) with sides of Haricot Vert Sauté(slender green beans with a mustard butter sauce) and Haricots Cannellini et Lardons(cannellini beans with bacon). I only wish I could count how many times our eyes rolled into the back of our heads in delight of the taste of this food! At our encouragement, the proprietress told us of her roots, the restaurant’s genesis, its progress during its current three-year term, and her dreams and aspirations for its continued success. She’s quite sweet and charming, and with food this good, it’s quite easy to fall into the mode of wanting to help yet another small business American dream story succeed. But restaurants don’t succeed unless their food and service are worthy, and in this instance, we benefited from great doses of both. And lest we forget, I heeded the advice of a fellow Unilocal reviewer and left room for the chocolate mousse(one of my all-time favorite desserts, but one I’m quite particular about), and once again Le Persil did not disappoint. Here is the trick to enjoying a meal at Le Persil: 1) Bring your own wine/booze — you can, your meal is meant to last a while and you need to relax and enjoy your food so plan accordingly; 2) Try to talk to the chef/owner. She might be cooking in the kitchen, but she would really love and appreciate your feedback. This restaurant is a labor of love for her based on tried and true family recipes handed down from her French father, but she’s also juggling another job while she tries to make the restaurant a success… so cut her/the service some slack; 3) truly EXPERIENCETHEFOOD. I dare say, you won’t be disappointed. Bön Appetit a Tout! :-)

Wonderful food and lovely atmosphere for a very reasonable price! They offered a random 20% total discount to drum up more business, which on top of being BYOB, made our meal ridiculously affordable. The lobster ravioli and chocolate mousse were to die for. Kind service and sweet background music, very Parisian. Would love to see this place more full!

We went as part of a bachelorette party, and I wouldn’t go back. When we first came through the door, it smelt like they were having septic tank problems. It did not create a good environment. Then, we sat down and ordered our food. It took 40 minutes to get our food even though we were the only people in the place, and it was well below satisfactory. I ordered a simple pasta with marinara sauce, and it came with so much cilantro that I couldn’t taste anything else. I didn’t eat but a few bites. Most of the girls got soup, and they ate about as much as I did. I will not go back.

Chocolate lovers beware. You are entering into an unknown domain, where everything you thought you knew about chocolate was true. Then enter the chocolate mousse dessert– to call it a dessert is really not doing it justice. It is a semi solid chuck of lusciousness in a martini glass. Dig as hard as you may and you will not get to the bottom. Oh, and the other things we had on their menu were great as well…

The place is good, I really love roasted butternut squash soup But as others mentioned — staff sometimes sits around surfing internet not paying attention to the customers.
