My color was such a mess!
Other Salons sent me away and said my hair was ruined.
That it would take months to color correct and I had to cut it short, or else.
I did not know what to do, so I let my hair go and did nothing. It kept looking bad.
One day when I was driving down Ventura Blvd. I saw the Eddy James Salon and a sign about hair color repair.
To my luck, I had Eddy James do my color– beautiful shades of blond color.
He is a master colorist and fast.
I am more than pleased with my hair color and and give a 5 star-​plus rating.
The Eddy James Salon is a very cool place and Eddy James is a wizard of hair.

I met Christy a few years ago through a friend’s referral. Since then I have trusted her with my haircut and color. I have recently moved further from the salon where she works and thought I’d give my local hair salon a try and that was a big mistake! I find it now that it’s worth the drive to see a hairstylist that is consistent with the quality of her work. She is amazing!

Bad place don’t go there. Awful EXPERIENCE!

I naturally have very thick, curly hair and was trying to find a salon/​stylist with experience with my hair type. This is definitely the place… Maya (their in-​house curly hair expert) did such a great job, I’m actually writing a review.

I want to Unilocal out and say thank you to Shannon Garst, a hair stylist at EJS. This girl got the color and highlights I have wanted, just perfect. She heard me and did an amazing job on my highlights. Thank you Shannon! You Rock girl. I love this salon. And Eddy is a wizard as well on hair. It’s all around a fabulous salon!

Great salon and customer service!

I started going to Eddy James Salon over a year ago to get my eyebrows done by Stacey El-​Broche. I found her thru Unilocal reviews that were overwhelming positive and her work did not disappoint. She will make your brows look the best they ever have! At the time I started going to Stacey, I had a regular hairstylist so I didn’t go to the salon for any other services. But a few months ago, my hairstylist suddenly stopped working so I decided to give Eddy James Salon a chance to work on my hair too. I asked Eddy who he would recommend to cut my naturally curly hair and he suggested Christyani «Christy» Osorio (who he mentioned had trained at Vidal Sassoon). Christy is so sweet and down to earth and did such a great job cutting my hair that I have become a regular getting my cut done with her every month. Curly hair has its quirks and I feel that Christy has given me the most technically perfect cuts of my life! The hair just lays right and grows out well so that even when it is longer, the cut still holds its shape. I have an A-​Line Bob and she’s done a great job maintaining it. She also does a great scalp massage when she’s washing my hair. The salon is always clean and I like the satin robes they offer — much nicer to wear than a smock. I’ve found the staff to be really nice and friendly every time I go. I’ve chatted a few times with Eddy and he always has a funky car parked outside — look for his decal wrapped Porsche or vintage El Camino right outside the shop. There is a parking lot on the side and also metered parking on Ventura. Eddy James Salon is highly professional but it also has the feel of a neighborhood spot. So you get great cuts without any attitude.

Berta is now doing my hair cut and blow dry, she is fabulous! It has been several months
since I chose her skilled hands and I’m very pleased. She is always in a good mood and
upbeat, a sweetheart!

After all this time, Peter Christopher is still my hair stylist. His work is consistent and is never rushed. We’ve fallen into a rhythm where I visit him every 6 weeks; he’ll always ask me what I want (even though it’s the same thing) and understands that I am a low-​key kind of girl so he always cuts to make sure it grows in and lays naturally.
I like to go to the salon on Saturdays so when Peter is done styling my hair, I can head out on the town and show it off right away. Whenever I get a compliment on my hair (which still happens all the time), I always tell them about this salon. I love this place with the people and I can’t see myself trusting anyone else with my hair.

This Unilocal review is over due. The customer service here is amazing. My hair stylist is Stephanie she’s great she always makes my hair look amazing and I always leave there feeling Beautiful. Thank you for my amazing hair xoxo

Oh dear! I had my hair cut by Maya. She is very friendly and says she knows what she is doing. I am sure she does, however, I tried to show her pictures of how I wanted my hair and I told her I like big hair and don’t want to lose length. She said she would cut off one inch but OMG I NOW HAVE A SHORT HAIR HAIRCUT AND no volume she thinned it all out and my hair is very curly and now the layers are all too short. I have no volume left what’s whoever. I wish she would have consulted me instead of saying I know what I am doing I am very confident! I am sure you are confident and I am sure you know what you are doing the problem is you need to know what I want so you can do what I want doing on my hair since I am paying you for it !

Thank you Eddy and Kennedy for my beautiful hair. At Eddy James you always walk out with EXACTLY what you request. Everyone in the Salon has a smile on their face and are lovely people. The teamwork from everyone is like a well oiled machine and run flawlessly. The salon is clean and extremely inviting. Open 7 days a week!!!
Now that’s a salon that listens to their customers and delivers every time.

I had an appointment with stylist Shannon a week ago and let me tell you, I had the best experience. She did exactly what I asked for. Love the highlights and she cut the perfect length. I am loving my new hair! It’s so easy taking care of it now. Thank you so much Shannon

I have Two words for you all reading this and that’s = SHANNON GARST! She is an amazing colorist and cut hair perfectly. Other salons have always over paid and was treated like every other customer. I’ve know Shannon for sometime and knew she did hair but thank god I finally went to her… She turned my hair from a dull dry horses tail to beautiful, shiny and healthy. She always goes above and beyond. She is very proud of her and work and it shows. Shannon has an infectious smile and overall a wonderful stylist. She treats everyone special and you always leaving the salon surprised but in a good way. Thanks Shannon for the laughs and suggestions my hair is healthy and the color is phenomenal SO GO TO SHANNON YOU CAN THANK ME LATER!!!

Shannon Garst is amazing! The Salon is cute and has a fun vibe! Shannon is also super friendly and easy to talk too!
She now does our whole family…2 kids and hubby!
For me there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t get a compliment on my color! It’s always perfect every time I go!
She recently cut my 15 year olds hair — he had long hair his whole life– she listened to what he wanted and gave him a fantastic SHORT cut!
I love that she always takes the time to make sure she does a thorough consult before she starts!

Stephanie is great! Very friendly and easy to talk to. Salon is clean and cute.
Stephanie consulted with me on what exactly I wanted and how we should go about it in a healthy way (I wanted to go lighter in color). I didn’t feel pressured to do anything or pay for anything extra. Stephanie has great hair herself so why wouldn’t I trust her with my hair. Her coworkers are friendly and not the type to be creeping on what you are doing.
All in all, a great experience and worth the money. Can’t wait to come back for my second session.

My first two trips there, a stylist didn’t do what I asked. Blonde. She gave me brown.
My trip to Eddy in October– he gave me a great blonde color! BUT… my next trip, I showed him the pic of his own work, and just wanted my roots done, and highlights keeping the great blonde he gave me.
Without telling me, or asking me, he just dyed my whole head ashy, mousey brown.
It destroyed all the blonde in my hair.
His excuse later was «your roots were long», which is the most unprofessional excuse by a salon owner I’ve ever heard. I don’t know if this was deliberate, or he messed up and just darkened it hide his mistake?
He charged me 25 $ MORE than the last time.
I called that night saying I was very unhappy and it needed to be fixed– they ignored my call.
I called back twice more. They offered to «fix it» for $ 50.00 MORE. No way.
I asked for a refund and they refused.
This seems like very underhanded bait and switch. For a salon owner to refuse to own up to his huge mistake is rude and to charge more, and then want even more money to «fix» his own deliberate bad work… that’s unethical.

I absolutely love my ombré-​d hair! Stephanie was awesome and I can’t wait to go back to go lighter.

STEPHANIE AND BERTA! Two best hair stylists on the planet! Ask for either of them!!! They are the sweetest girls too!
A few of the things I’m looking for in a hairstylist are:
1. Professional Knowledge
2. Non «Catty» Personalities
3. Reasonably Priced
I have to say this is the first time I have found all three qualities in a stylist. The last few stylists I had were great however I always felt some sort of cattiness within the salon. This has never been the case at Eddy James. I have been going here now for about a year and I don’t think I could ever go anywhere else.
Tip: Ladies, you must try «tape in hair extensions». Ask for Stephanie. She can do them and all sorts of colors (see picture) they are the most comfortable extensions to sleep in and they last for several weeks!
All in all a great place to visit regularly! You will fall in love with your hair and the stylists who work here!
