Im sure that the grumpy trolls in which gave a sub 5 star review are more the Costco wine /sprit buying experience types. This way they can buy 128 pairs of tube socks while enjoying a mini hot dog sample. Peter has a passion, it comes out when he shares his knowledge with you from spirits to wines. It keeps me coming back each time to try new and exciting things. His curated bourbon selection is hands down one of the best in SoCal. Find another shop with as many bespoke casks of bourbon as he has. Every choice he has guided me on has exceeded my expectations. You can’t go wrong here. I had peter ship a bunch of spirits to me while i was in NYC for the holidays. It came overnight and unharmed. Great service.

I’ve been coming to this store for 50 years and have only seen it change owners once. From Marty and Chuck with the adept aid of their brother in law, Ray to the firm leadership of Peter. A wide array of product featuring wines, cognacs, bourbon

I stop in here on occasion because I like Peter’s suggestions about wine, we seem to be in sync, and I believe in supporting small businesses. Yes, I still buy wine at Gelsons and a few bigger independent shops, but I always seek out Flask when I’m looking for something special. Sat. Peter suggested a wonderful Napa Cab from Rocca for a special dinner party and it was perfect. So perfect in fact our guests refused to leave until every drop was drained from every bottle. Great service, depth of knowledge and approachable.

Peter and his crew are knowledgeable and very helpful to customers who are looking for those«hard to find» beers or wines. They’ve got an amazing selection of Rosés. They carry Eastern European(New) wine. There’s a tasting bar. There’s a wild selection of microbrews! Ultimately? Super nice people with a passion for what they do.

What a great place to buy booze. The prices are fair and the owners are quite knowledgeable about what they are selling. As opposed to a «regular» liquor store, Flask has more intimate lighting and a great atmosphere but, most importantly, they stock interesting and unusual choices. If you are looking for a good wine or spirits buying experience, try this place.

I’m not a big drinker but I have recently been getting into wine. This store has an unbelievable selection and Peter and Grant display the best customer service or any adult beverage operation that I have ever seen. They will answer any and all questions that anybody has regardless of how much or little you know about a certain product.

Love this place. Their service and booze/wine/beer recommendations are fantastic. And their wine tasting evenings are a blast.

I’m torn for four or five stars… And I’m writing about a wine tasting on Saturday Night(and apparently also on Thursday Nights). I’m a fan, and it was as good as it’s ever been, but as embarrassing as this is to write, this was one of my FIRST wine tastings… So, maybe you being all experienced, won’t have the same experience. I went with a friend, we found Peter and Grant super friendly, super helpful… Patient… Willing to go at our speed… Offering advice and knowledge when we called upon it. And the people sharing the bar with us were also very friendly. I believe my friend and I were there for 3 hours trying various wines, and while I’m not at all a connoisseur of wine… But in the process of learning more and more about different grapes & regions, I feel like I learned a bunch of new information tonight. I will say that the next time we’ll bring some crackers & cheese or something to nibble on between wine selections. Looking forward to the next time I go there for another tasting.

i’ve been a fan for decades, and old owners or new, their offering of single malts isn’t matched anywhere else.(their wines are lovely, but i’m a sulfite-sensitive type, so prefer rums and scotch.) i’m just sincerely relieved that after the development uproar along this slice of ventura boulevard these past thirty years that this gem has survived … thank you so much for your exceptional service.

I came by to pick up a bottle of wine and the guys here are«wine nerds» as they told me, and will help you find a special bottle for your budget. They told me that 95% of what they carry are small producers and family owned. I usually like to buy«best value» wines and they directed me towards a bottle of Cotes du Rhone, which was the last bottle they had in stock. Highly recommended if you want to pick up something special or unique for yourself, as a gift or for a dinner party. They also have a small selection of craft beer, stock shared with their sister company, Valley Beverage Company in Sherman Oaks. Flask also has a monthly craft beer share(bring a bottle to share with others) and also a wine tasting on Thursdays and Saturdays. Call them for details on these events or follow them on Instagram. Parking in the back or street parking at the meters.

Fantastic Staff. Peter and Grant are experts and can give you suggestions for any budget. Great Selections of wine and spirits. I come here often for gifts or to pick something up for the house. Also come for the wine tastings, they are fun and informative. A geat way to experience new wines.

This place is the best. The staff is incredible. I’ve shopped here for decades, and had occasion to place several special orders with them over the years. They never fail to effortlessly accommodate my every need and acquire/obtain/locate the items I’ve requested no matter how unique or unusual they may be. A few years ago, I needed one bottle of a hard-to-find wine; years before that, I would special order weekly deliveries of cases of Voss water; today, I needed to schedule the weekly delivery of case of beer so crappy they don’t even distribute it in Los Angeles. Peter assisted me today – he spoke to me at length about my beer order(despite how little profit the store would derive from it) – and, as always, made me feel like accommodation my request was no problem. Always an absolute pleasure dealing with the folks at the Flask. Thanks again Peter!

Really you couldn’t ask for a better selection or better people. The owner, Peter is kind, unpretentious & extremely knowledgable. We love going to the wine tastings on Saturday & learning about new wines. The Flask is absolutely our favorite Valley gem for wine & spirits.

Who puts«fine wine» in a «flask»? Don’t worry, the fun evening tastings at Flask aren’t served in a flask. 20-some years ago, I used to wander in here during my lunch break from my nearby office. I never bought anything because I was horrified that they were putting upright bottles of their most expensive Montrachet in the storefront window. The space has been completely remodeled and they stopped this terrible act of exposing their best bottles to sun and heat. It was now safe to revisit. The store is mainly to provide tastings and help people dropping in to pick-up a quick bottle, but not a place for restocking the wine cellar. The tastings are a great way to find a bottle that clicks with the palate prior to buying. With a seven wine flight for $ 20 along with pages of wine offered by two to three ounce pours for mostly $ 3 to $ 4, there is a wide selection of really good wines to try. Typical of a small store, the pricing was steep, but wines sold with the tasting are priced lower.

My favorite wine store ! I was shopping on Ventura and I saw«Wine Tasting Thursday & Saturday». That was the end of shopping for me. I went in and sat at the bar. They have extensive tasting list. I love it! Grant and Peter were so nice and knowledgeable. I don’t know why people were complaining about no one is here or quiet place. You can get all their attention! I do go to lots of wine tasting for work/hobby and they still have a lot of wines that I haven’t heard or tried. It is always fun to taste and talk about wines with someone who knows a lot about wine. I brought my friends when I came back the second time and they all loved it, too. We brought in cheese and meat and we were there for a long time. So much fun. It is hard to buy wines if you haven’t tried it, specially if you are paying for good amount of $$. I really recommend to go to the tasting, so you can find your new favorite wines.

New owner. I was there before when the previous owner had it. Lots of regulars at the wine tasting then. When I went recently, I was alone. And it was set price for the tasting. But no palate cleansers.

Wine is more than just a beverage: it is an experience. Evoking feelings of warmth, family, laughter, and grapes hanging on vines; it is nothing short of classy and inviting. One would hope that these feelings are similarly aroused when shopping for these glorious, liquid gold bottles. Unfortunately, that is NOT the case with Flask Fine Wines. I must be living in an alternate dimension as Flask’s Unilocal listing is filled with 5-star reviews and my experience was completely on the opposite end of the spectrum(although it should be noted that the high reviews are over 2 years old). Perhaps it was an «off day» at Flask but I am deterred from ever even returning to test that hypothesis. Now granted, we arrived about 15 minutes before closing on a Sunday so perhaps that explains my following experience. However, there is no excuse for poor customer service regardless of the day or time. My boyfriend and I arrived at Flask Fine Wines after a trip to Bev Mo(which is across the street from Flask), only to find an empty store. Literally. There were no other customers, no employees, and dead silence. To the point where I called out, «Hello? Anyone here?» and made a joke to take the wine and run. Finally, a younger(early 30s) male came in from the back door. No apology, no explanation, nothing. We instantly felt unwelcome. I tried to strike up a conversation but the associate had no personality, grace, and obviously either didn’t want to be there or personally didn’t like us. Who knows. He DID answer some of our questions but the responses were short and monotone and we could barely get anything out of him. Terrible. So what does Flask offer besides poor customer service? We noticed a bar and thus asked about tastings which occur on Thursdays at 5pm. Instead of a flat rate, these are by the glass with an extensive menu(with new offerings offered each week). My boyfriend asked about palate cleansers and the associate said they serve some cheese with the wine. I can’t comment on the tastings as we were obviously not there for one(and I am not enticed to return). The store itself had a large selection of wine including Italian, Spanish, California, and champagnes(sadly, I couldn’t find any Argentinian Malbec). There were some refrigerated wines and spirits available, as well. However, Flask had a lot of empty space, dusty bottles, and out of stock selections. I simply was not impressed. On the other hand, prices were acceptable and well-marked for their offerings. Need some wine-related gift items? Flask offers some specialty items(glasses, bottle openers, etc) but this was limited as well. Long story, short: I find more offerings and have a better experience at Bev Mo. Heck, I’ve had a better time at some convenience stores! A positive of Flask? They offer custom-made gift baskets and work with your budget and theme. No, this isn’t something that the non-caring associate mentioned– I discovered this per my own internet research. Overall, Flask is a dud. Poor service, limited selection, and turning wine into a negative experience; it is not worth a visit. Again, I realize that I am an oddball per these reviews; but it is what it is and I will not hide my bad experience. I’ll just stick to Bev Mo across the street.

Ask for Peter. Trust me. I was cavorting around Los Angeles(Studio City to be exact) with a few galpals and after a rather exhausting afternoon of shopping and more shopping…(tough life, I know), we had a hankering for some of the grape stuff and our local livin’ friend immediately suggested Flask Fine Wines. So. We moseyed on it and less than 7 minutes later, we moseyed on out with an incredibly delicious bottle in our price range that exceeded our expectations. Peter knows his wine. This spot offers up a fantastic selection that varies from super affordable affordable bottles to high-end vintages. Such a charming experience! TIP: Check in on Unilocal because the offer deals and promotions!

Great experience! I attended a wine tasting session over the weekend and it was nothing short from being great. A very friendly and mellow atmosphere accompanied with a great selection of wines and cheeses and people that know more about wines than for their own good. I walked in with the intention of simply having a glass or two, but stumbled out with a few bottles — that’s how good it was! If you want to spend a good evening in the Valley, surrounded with intellects ranging from connoisseurs to bar hoppers, this is the place to go.
