Delicious food… superb Indian taste. Their Koorma sauce is the best I’ve ever tasted. I had Chicken Koorma, Vegetable Biryani & their perfect balance of crispy & soft, Naan! Highly recommended

Amazing food and amazing customer service. Hands down the best Indian restaurant in town. Their shrimp korma is the best around. Very warm and exceptional service provided. Definitely recommend. And the best part is they deliver all over LA I live in Northridge and I always get my deliveries on time. Just simply amazing

This is my go to spot for Indian in my neighborhood. Always good, and they usually deliver very quick. Only downside, it’s a little bit pricey compaired to some of their competators. However the food is so good you’ll be glad you paid for it.

Been going to GangaDin since the early 90s. The food is consistently wonderful. The service is always friendly and helpful. It’s a family operation and the family atmosphere extends to how they treat their customers. The past year has seen a couple of hipster joints on the same street rendering parking nearly impossible. Hipsters ruin everything, don’t they? But… Gangadin will outlast even the hippest of the hip! Love you guys!

Food was average. Sag Paneer was too salty but had good flavor and texture. Tikka Masala was a little bland. $ 75 was way too much for this food for a party of 4.

This review is about my delivery through eat24. I’ve ordered delivery from gangadin through eat24 previously. They weren’t prompt, but delivered within the time allotted. I have been to this restaurant and recommended them many times over the last 3 years. Due to no fault of eat24, my order did not arrive within the hour given. I called the restaurant to ask what’s going on and what sounded like a teenage boy, explained that their tandoor oven was cold because they were closed the day before, and had trouble heating up. I asked why I wasn’t notified and he said it’s been too hectic to tell customers. I work in a restaurant and we utilize delivery services. If your kitchen isn’t functioning, the first move is to temporarily stop offering delivery service and to notify customers waiting for delivery. Not only did I have to call, and find out my food hasn’t even gone out yet, 20 minutes after it should have arrived(at the latest), but the lack of urgency, communication and no apology, was incredibly unprofessional. I don’t even need an explanation, simply remedy the situation. After sitting silently on the phone, waiting for the guy to suggest some kind of solution, he unapologetically said he couldn’t call eat24, and give me 10% off if I wanted. I realized you’re probably stressed out, and thank God I work in the hospitality/service industry and can empathize. BUT where’s the hospitality in this situation? It’s nearing 2 hours later and my order still hasn’t arrived. I’ve met the owner and his son and I can’t imagine a measly 10% off would suffice such an inconvenience. If I hadn’t returned home from the holiday with an empty fridge and an empty stomach, I wouldn’t wait it out. Zero stars.

I would drive the seven hours from my house to Los Angeles just to come here. I brought my relatives from India. They said it would be hard to beat the food there, but Gangadin did.

Delicious food, and most of the staff is great. I am grateful for Unilocal giving customers a forum to review their experiences. I feel strongly about customer service. I value the reviews, and use them to make decisions on whether I support the establishment or not. As aforementioned, Gangadin is great – ALL except for the delivery guy. He ruined my full experience – to the point that I stopped ordering from there. He seems to hate his job. He delivers the food with a bad attitude – like he has a chip on his shoulder. There was one time when he questioned his tip – very crass of him. This particular day, I paid cash for my order, and didn’t have a «large tip» on me. I believe my tip to him was at least 15%, but he wanted more for his trouble… His exact words to me were, «is this all I get?»

Less than average food. Would not order again. Chicken tikka masala was just ok. In fact the Costco frozen tikka masala tasted better than this. The portions were very small and the price is on the high end for what this place has to offer. The chicken curry was watery and not very good at all. The garlic naan was undercooked. In general below average food, overpriced and a disappointing. Would not order from here for delivery.

On our first visit, my fiancée and I were instantly ingratiated by this place which is a family owned Jain Indian restaurant. It was clear that there were regulars who had come for years as the owners chatted them up and walked them out to their cars. I felt like(if we stayed in CA) we might have been that older couple laughing and walking outside with the owners. It was a rare feeling for Los Angeles. Food is nothing short of amazing. I’d been told many times that Mayura in culver city was the best in the city. I had hoped, having been a regular there out of convenience that that wasn’t true. It was sort of hit or miss there. Not a chance that could be the best in this vast city. Nope. Now that we’ve tried literally every Indian restaurant in the valley, I can confidently say this is the best. Ambience is small, quiet and intimate. Great for small groups, not great for big groups(I imagine the acoustics would get loud). The décor is lovely and whisks you away to another time and place, and the staff(most of whom are related to the owners, some of them sons, I believe) are all attentive, great and at-the-ready for making suggestions as we began to bring in our friends(vegans, gluten-freegans –real ones with real consequences to gluten — and paleo-ites). This’s yet another gem and another reason that I love studio city so much. I’ve never seen a place around a city since where I grew up that has so many amazing little family-owned places that still stand, still serve the best food and who know their customers like the backs of their hands. The fiancé and I have got a big crush on Gangadin.

I am very surprised to see that this Indian restaurant has been rated 4 stars. It was one of the worst Indian restaurants I have been to and the irony was that they had reviews for them on back of their menu which read like«if you find a better Indian restaurant in LA then let me know» We ordered aloo papri chat & sheekh Kawab to begin with. God knows how they made those papri and for the sheekh Kawab was ok but the fried onions with it had no salt. For the main course both vegetarian & non vegetarian options we ordered were pretty okish. It was clearly showing up that they have just heated up a pre cooked curry and put it on the meat or paneer. I am only visiting LA for a day but I am sure there would be better Indian restaurant options than this. Please try to avoid this restaurant unless your taste buds are dead.

I’ve been eating here for over 25 years. Still the best Indian food around. Took a friend who is a vegan, and she said it was the best she has ever had. I of course, had the chicken tikka masala. Amazing. I hope to get another 25 years out of this.

LOVELOVELOVELOVE! I came here with my fiancé for the first time a couple of weeks ago and their food and service were fantastic. We ordered the garlic Naan, Chicken Tika Masala, lamb samosas, and saag paneer. Everything was delicious and so incredibly priced. We had such a great dinner here until we got back to the car and noticed a parking ticket. =( Make sure you put coins in before you leave your car. Love this place. Highly recommended.

i came here with an indian friend of mine and he can vouch for the food as well. each dish is served with a side of salad, yogurt, lentils, and rice. i got the lamb curry and loved all of it. i will say i ordered it spicy and it wasn’t very hot at all but the server said if we let them know next time they can up the spice level. i also had tea to drink, which was good. our server was knowledgable and helpful and friendly. the bill was totally affordable too.

Four of us had dinner at Gangadin last evening. We had plans to go bowling nearby and Gangadin had the best rating for Indian food in Studio City. Place was reasonably busy for 730PM on a Friday Evening. Was obvious this is a family run(father/son) establishment where they take great pride in their establishment, make sure their guests are well attended to. However, while the service was wonderful the food I ate had some real challenges. Dinner began with an appetizer of Onion Pakora. I expected classic Pakora. What we received was Onion Falafel. Really, not kidding here. It was not a very good rendition of this Indian classic as it lacked flavor and/or the right texture. Won’t be ordering this dish again. Next came the Mattar Paneer which was my choice for the table to share. The sauce part of the dish was tasty; however, the paneer(cheese squares) were chewy and not edible. I know precisely how Mattar Paneer should taste and this rendition was a disgrace. I should have sent it back. The Vegetable Biryani was the best item I tasted. It was a good rice dish with nice flavors. It was a 3.5 star dish. Everyone at the table raved about the Tandoori Chicken. I tried it and would say it was ok; however, was not good enough to get me to return. There was another chicken dish we shared with chicken in a red cream sauce. The chicken was a tad overdone and chewy for my taste. The Naan bread was fair. The bottle of Kung Fu Riesling was good; however, needed some ice as Riesling needs to be served ice cold. We had 2 star food with 4 star service. Sadly, this is an Indian restaurant for non Indian people. This is an Indian restaurant for those whom have never been to India. I doubt they have any patrons of Indian decent dining here. The folks running this establish are very nice, will go out of their way to take care of you. However, the food has its challenges.

YUMMY !!! We are both gluten free and mentioned that upon arrival and we were looked after so well ! The suggestions were excellent, the food was amazing, the service was excellent and I loved the family atmosphere. Manmeet ji, the owner, came to check on us several times as did Sangmeet, his son. We are already planning our return dinner — excited to try everything on the menu ! Already planning on catering from here :)

I am very sad to change my previous review, but after my last two visits to this restaurant, it is necessary. The bottom line is if the patriarch and owner of the restaurant isn’t there, the experience can be extremely different — and bad. The last two times I went to Gangadin, after being a devoted customer for the last 3 years, were bad to awful. The food is still good, but the service is terrible. My visit with my wife last night was the last straw. We were greeted and seated quickly and our order was taken quickly by one of the owner’s sons. The son informed us that his dad just left and he was glad. He took our order, which included nan, an appetizer of Sag aloo and pickled vegetables and 2 main courses. The pickled vegetables(an extremely tiny portion) arrived quickly but was inedible due to how salty it was. Then, the waiting began. After 30 minutes of sitting there waiting with no one visiting our table, I went over to ask what was going on and if they could bring some of our food. The person I spoke to apologized and said he would tell our server. 5 minutes later, another server brought our Nan, but instead it was some type of hard, cracker/flat bread. At this point, I went over to speak with our original server who is the son and manager on duty. He said he was sorry for the delay and they were having problems with the Tandoor. This was the first I heard of any reason for the delay and I wasn’t sure why they couldn’t have brought us our other appetizers. Given the terrible service and our hunger, my wife and I left to go find food elsewhere. Needless to say, this was an aggravating experience and was far from our hope for our date night dinner at Gangadin. If we ever decide to go again, I will call ahead to make sure the owner is on site.

Had a really wonderful family dinner here. The service was beyond wonderful. And the owner even gave me a special poster to take home. I have some food allergies(gluten and dairy,) but everything was clearly labeled on the menu… amazing!(And when I had questions, our server was delighted to answer them.) The food was super good, I had the Lamb Vindaloo, and we had a wonderful meal :)

This is a fantastic restaurant! We came here for my father’s birthday and had an amazing experience. One of the things I loved about the restaurant is that they are a family operation. Manmeet is the owner and he has been running the place for 30 years! He greeted every table when they arrived and welcomed them to his place. Many visitors already knew him from before and now I know why. These days Manmeet has his two sons working with him at the restaurant. You really gotta love a family shop that works well together! Let’s talk about the food, because it was GOOOOOD! We ordered the Gangadin Green Chili Lamb, Lamb Biryani, Okra, kabobs, and Garlic Naan. A great thing to note is that all their lamb is ground in the shop and the lamb kabobs we got for an appetizer tasted great! The Gangadin Green Chili Lamb came nice and spicy just like I ordered it. The meat was very tender and had plenty of sauce for amazing flavor. The Lamb Biryanio came out great too. It had plenty of flavor and wasn’t dry which is great for a rice dish. Everyone in our group really enjoyed their food. So the thing that really made our evening is the personal attention that the owner gives to every table at his restaurant. Manmeet had a great casual conversation with us about the restaurant, both of our families, the food, and living in our respective countries. It felt super comfortable to just hang out for a little bit a meet a nice guy. At the end of our visit Manmeet wished my father a happy birthday and gave him a really nice card hand written in 3 different languages. It was a fantastic evening. Bottom line: This place has great food and a great atmosphere. You have to check it out!
