My favorite news stand in LA. We’ve been shopping here for more than 10 years. You can find rare magazines, industry ones, earlier than they show up in bookstores. If you’re looking for something and they don’t have it here, that means that what you’re looking for it’s not on the market anymore. The owners know their business very well, they can answer your questions, order special things for you, they’re nice and knowledgeable. I park behind the CVS. Hope it’ll stay in business, we need places like it!

Great little shop to find rare magazines. Staff is always friendly and helpful. They called me 3 weeks after I left my phone number to let me know the Aussie mag I was looking for had come in — they are top notch!!!

This place is a piece of history. Really it has been here forever. With an incredible selection and easy access and helpful people — Wow! Just come check it out while you can and while the printed word still exists. I suspect that we may be in the the last generation of printed goods!

What a wonderful news stand. They have a huge selection. If you can’t find what you’re looking for here, then you won’t find it anywhere in LA ’cause Laurel Canyon News definitely has the largest selection of newspapers and magazines in town! It’s open 24 hours a day and always has helpful and knowledgable staff manning the stand. I stop there quite a bit… What first attracted me to it was how it’s so very reminiscent of a New York City news kiosk. I highly recommend this spot!

When it comes to magazines this is my first stop. Not only do they have the hard to find issues but generally have issues that other stands don’t even carry. Their selection can’t be beat and sometimes even keep older issues in stock just in case you miss one from a previous week. I’ve turned a lot of people on to them and highly recommend!

I love this magazine stand! Depending on where I am in LA, I generally go to different newsstands, but the Laurel Canyon Newsstand by far is the best one. I normally go there during on weekdays for work and the person working is very knowledgeable & helpful. I’ve also met the owners & they seem down to earth & nice. This is where you can hang out, do some reading and then decide what you’d like to buy. The location is awesome! You’ll meet the locals and get the gossip here!

LOVEIT! LOVEIT! LOVEIT! Whenever I come to LA for work I have to make a stop here! Usually on my way to Burbank Airport. I am a magazine-aholic and this place suits me just fine. So many interesting magazines you don’t find anywhere else. Also, they seem to get the magazines earlier than other places. The owner is very nice and always remembers me. Worth the trip!

This newsstand always seems to have the magazines I need, and on the shelves before the others. The weekly gossip rags are usually on the shelves by Wednesday evening, while the supermarkets usually have them by Friday. Good selection, from fitness, beauty, fashion, international, parenting, regional, etc. I think they can also special order a particular magazine if you need it.

I’m really into magazines. Really, really into magazines.(See my website.) Even though there are two newsstands much closer to me, I still make a pilgrimage to Laurel Canyon about once a week. I love this place for several reasons: they never seem to close; they carry all sorts of trade journals and foreign magazines that I never see elsewhere; and they’ll often put out new magazines before they’re supposed to be on sale, so I get to take home Vogue before it’s officially been released.(Yes, I know, I need a life.) I have only one complaint. There are so many magazines available here that the racks are stacked several feet high, and I can’t reach them. Next time I desperately need a stash of magazines at midnight, this is where I’ll be headed!

Does the term sensory overload mean anything to you? If not, then spend 15 minutes here and it will. WOW! They have it all here and for all of you magazine lovers out there, this is like a literary and cool pictARS in bound form wonderland! It’s also a pretty cool spot to check out locals and um, like cute guys that know how to read. The only better place for that is a few stores West on Ventura at the Bookstar. For some reason, cute people flock to that news rack and well, yeaaah! Another reason that LC News gets 5 stars from me is because they always have a brand spankin’ new copy of Synthesis Magazine which houses a most excellent column called«THECALL ‘EM» by that really great and funny writer Stephy Von Tramp. She’s really cool, so go here and buy the magazine along with a ton of other great page turners :) Also if I’m not mistaken, it’s 24 hours. At least they always seem to be open when I am trolling home at the super wee hours of the AM.
