Not too familiar with Studio City as I had ventured into the area to see a great play currently running at the Two Roads Theater around the corner. We were looking for a decent spot to enjoy a quick appetizer and drink before play with other 2 friends and we decided to stop in here. Intial impression was that the décor was lovely, music cool and it was clean and polished. Final impression was that the ambience was lovely, service good, owner friendly and very personable and food good as well. We only had appetizers which consisted of sweet potato fries, sauted edamame, calamari(aoli was delish — a tad bit spicy which I loved!), and the cocunut shrimp the best overall! Prices were right, flavors nice and overall experience a really good one. While it may very well be a spot trying to find it’s niche and transition into a more specific menu and/or market appeal I think that’s natural for a restaurant and the variety of options allows something for everyone while not detracting from the most important things such as good food and good service. Will be going back to try breakfast.

Girls night out, four of us, decided to try Nick’s, a restaurant you drive past but never go into. The outside has a huge sign that says Nick’s Grill and you think American diner. The interior is gorgeous and Asian, with a giant Buddha statue as you walk in the door. Hmmmm… so what is the menu like? Asian or American? It’s a pot porri, including seafood and pasta, Yes it was good and not too expensive. Problem was, there was no-one there! Would i recommend this for a night out? Based soley on our experience, its great for lovers and romantics, otherwise no fun to be had. My kids had lunch there and said the food was REALLY greasy. I think the restaurant needs to reconcile its misleading exterior with its beautiful interior and better define their identity, then things might buck up.

GREAT interesting beer list. Excellent food. This is a comfortable, friendly local joint with the perfect atmosphere when you want to go someplace nice without being pretentious.

I’ve driven by here many times so today I said lets give it a try. Since I never been here before I did. When you walk in it’s a beautiful place of Asian décor and with a nice clean look. The brunch selection was did not have a nice selection just some basics. I had something from the lunch menu a Philly cheese steak which looked good but small for the $$$. Also the fries were not plentiful. I asked the server so I could look at the dinner menu. I feel that they don’t know what cuisine they are going for the name feels Americana, the décor Asian and the menu, American, Asian, Mexican, and Italian. I feel that they need to narrow it down to who they want to be. I will give dinner a try to see how that is.

Just had a Saturday late breakfast at Nicks. The ambience was intimate and relaxing — soft music, a large Buddha inside, beautiful wood table booths… Matthew waited on us with a great smile and sense of humor. The breakfast was yummy — I created my own whipped egg dish and my girlfriend ordered the fritatta. I will definitely go back in the evening — quite a good cocktail/martini list($ 8 a drink), and you can sit outdoors or in. Free parking in the back — very convenient. A nice place for real conversation, fresh food and relaxation.

My girl and I visited Nick’s Grill this morning for the first time, for breakfast. We immediately liked the décor and the vibe of the place and were seated promptly by our waiter Matt. The breakfast menu was small, but intriguing, and had unique choices. What struck me the most is that a most of it was healthy’ish and has some varied asian influences here and there. I decided on ordering their Petite Grilled Tenderloin & Eggs and my girl ordered the Garden-healthy Frittata. The tenderloin was a fantastic medium rare and the sauce had a nice balance of taste. The Frittata was neither too big nor too small and looked crazy tasty. My girl assured me this was the case :) The breakfast portions were just the right size so that we left a satisfied full, rather than an «oh god I’m gonna die full.» Perfect. The coffee was good, the fruit was good, the overall experience was good and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back here for breakfast. We’re also looking forward to checking out their dinner fare.

I was there on a Friday and everything went well. I was greeted and seated by Nick upon arrival. I chose to sit outside as the weather was nice, and they have a nice patio dining area. The waitress(Bianca) arrived to take my order quickly and was very courteous and knowledgeable. I started with a Lemondrop, which was pretty good. Bianca brought a dish of grilled bread cubes mixed with fresh basil, diced tomato and Parmesan cheese, and I thought it was a nice touch. I ordered the stir fry with shrimp. It was tasty, served over curry rice. I thought it could use another shrimp(it came with 4 medium sized shrimp) and some color in the veggies(all green) but it was enough for a light dinner and that is what I came for. The prices are reasonable, the food and service were good, and I liked the personal attention from Nick.

I’ve been to Nick’s like 3 times because it is close by. However, I think that this last time was the final one and I won’t be going back. The place has a weird, snobby vibe. The last time I was there, we came in and stood at the seating area to wait for a table. The maitre d(tan, blond guy) walked right by and looked at us but did not acknowledge anything. Then we stand there for like 15 minutes twiddling our thumbs. Finally he comes back and says it would be an hour wait. Thanks. Also, when it first opened, I read a review that said the tuna was ropy. That was a disgusting mental image that I have never been able to get out of my head.

The goat cheese and mango wontons are really good. So that’s why I go here. This place is pretty nice inside, however… something is just a bit«off«. I cant really put my finger on it, but I feel like this is one of those places that Gordon Ramsey would hit up and pull apart. The Menu is a little weird. Lost of sandwiches and burgers, a few entrees and salads. Not much for the Veggie eaters except a garden burger which I’m all set with cause I’m pretty sure that’s the frozen kind. There is an Asian«accent» to some of the dishes, which is great cause it matches the décor, but not the rest of the menu items. Its just kind of a mish-mash of foods. On the + side, its decently priced and they have a decent wine & beer menu… cause in the end… that’s all that really matters. Right?

Just had dinner here last night and really loved it. The décor inside is homey with warm brown woods, lots of windows and comfy booths, and low lighting and little candles. There’s also a nice outside patio with pretty lights. I agree with the original reviewer that it is indeed beautiful on the inside; if it were a house instead of a restaurant I’d want to live in it. Zen buddha, twinkling lights and all. And Nick greeted and seated us himself and checked on us to make sure everything was alright. We had the mango goat cheese wontons as an appetizer and YUM! I love goat cheese, mango and wontons separately, and this combo of all three was a culinary delight. Also had the parmesan crusted chicken which came over linguini with butter garlic sauce and sun dried tomatoes. Loved that too, although the chicken was more breaded and pan fried than parmesan encrusted, but still good. My husband had the bacon cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and said it was damn tasty also. And a tasty glass or two of cabernet made both our meals that much more fantabulous! Yes, that’s right, FANTABULOUS! We just moved here and Nick’s Grill had me thinking we should find a place to live nearby so we can easily come back often to sample the rest of the menu.

Nick’s Grill, formerly Zenchi, has a warm ambience. It’s very tasetfully decorated and, frankly, beautiful on the inside… That being said, it might be the only thing working against it because as a «grill,» it still looks more like Zenchi, with its Budha-filled, Asian theme. But past that, it’s really awesome and I hope it gains enough patronage to be around for a long time. Nick was there to greet us at the door, was so friendly and nice, and our server was extraordinarily kind. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. They also have a late-night menu, open til midnight, which I am looking forward to utilizing some Saturday night when I’m snacky after drinking!(DOUBLE Mojito! $ 6.95!) I’m able to walk there but they have plenty of parking near and around it and they have a valet. Try it. You’ll like it.
