Great patio, excellent menu options. Highly recommend the truffle burger with Brie and mushrooms. High quality food, although you definitely pay for it. Would go back.

Service was really bad, the waitress disappeared for over 30 minutes I had to ask the busboy for my check, the burgers undercooked, buns soaked in oil. Overpriced.

When thinking about it, it seems that bars can be categorized into either 1 of 2 types: a dive bar or a more ‘hip’ gastropup. There doesn’t seem to be much middle ground(sort of like the economic situation in LA! But I digress…). Stout is here to turn the stereotypes upside-down and created a niche in the middle with a vibe that is casual and welcoming like a neighborhood bar(please no «Cheers» references) but with a cool, gastropub look, as well. Stout’s Studio City location is located in a standalone brick building(I live in the area so watched the construction a couple years ago) that combines the look of Hollywood meets Seattle with neat lighting, exposed wood and cement fixtures, and loft elements. Yet, dress is casual and not at all stuffy or a «here to see and be seen» attitude. In fact, even on a Saturday night, one will see families with small children enjoying meals so it is sort of like a Chili’s or Applebee’s vibe. The only complaint? Stout is much smaller than it looks with only a small side seating/dining area and a bar which means it can become crowded if large crowds arrive. So, what does Stout serve? Naturally, this is mainly a burger and beer spot serving an alcohol list of lagers, sour beers, ales, Belgians, specialty ales, bottled, wines, and even gluten beer with a large selection of the beer on tap. Food wise, you can find: burgers with proteins of various types, salads, fries, onion rings, poutine fries, and deserts. We decided to go with the Tripel Belgian($ 9) and the Allagash Belgian while also ordering the Gourmet Preztel($ 10) which comes with your choice of three sauces — we went with Chipotle Ketchup, Chutney, and a tarter-type aioli mayo with a name I can’t remember. The beers were excellent and of quality. I’ve had Tripel before but Allagash was new to me. I definitely recommend both for Belgian lovers. The Tripel has a great head while the Allagash has a smooth taste but with a small bite. As for the pretzel, it was outstanding! I know, I know. You are probably thinking: how can a pretzel be that special? Trust me, it is. First of all, it is GIGANTIC. This is like Oktober Fest on steroids and can certainly feed 2 – 3 people. The dough is perfect with a soft, warm interior but with a exceptional outer-crust. It is a pretzel perfected. The sauces were also delicious with the chutney being exceptionally notable. We wanted to bottle that baby up and take it home. Service at Stout is also excellent and not stuck-up like in Hollywood spots or most gastropubs. The family atmosphere continues with all employees — from hostess, to management to bartenders– welcoming you, smiling at you upon eye contact, and saying good bye as you leave. Stout definitely has customer service down to a ‘T’. There must be some complaints though, right? The main one is that the glasses at Stout are tiny. I am not a drinker and drink once every 6 months(I go to bars with friends but don’t really drink myself). Not exaggerating. But even I was feeling jipped and like we were handed kiddie cups. Rip off. Parking can also be a bit difficult in this area with limited meters. However, there is under ground parking across the street for the plaza there(free). Small note: Stout offers a daily Happy Hour from 5−11pm. Want to order some of their food but eat at home? Stout offers take-out/pick up orders. Long story short, Stout is a great middle ground bar capturing elements of a neighborhood dive but with the appearance and quality of a gastropup. It is great for a family meal, a friendly beer, or a date. When seeking a great energy but in a more casual energy: Stout is definitely the place to go.

The food is great. pretzel starter is awesome! I personally thought the waitress wasn’t giving us all that much attention, but I’m not the needy type of patron so whatever. BUT, what really rubbed me the wrong way was… I asked for wheat bun on my burger and the waitress said«we can’t do that», so i said«do you guys carry wheat bun’s at all»?? she said«Yes, but it only comes with the veggie burger» hahaha WTF?! So apparently STOUT Refuses to give you wheat bun with you regular burger… THEYHAVEIT, THEYJUSTWON’T GIVEITTOYOU!!! Hmmm Interesting…

Come here every week, greeeeeeeat banter. Even better burgers and beers. The staff are awesome, and the atmosphere is great. Get the sweet potato fries and stout burger. Best burger I’ve had in LA without a doubt. #Where’s Whitney? #Worms. #extequila

I LOVE their Stout burger on a bed of lettuce(no bread)!! OMG, Travelling through the area, I ate there 3 times in one week during the middle of March 2016 along with my 21-year-old son because their burgers and beer selection are that good! I know others have posted about the service, but all three times we’ve been there, the service and food was fabulous. I also love their sweet potato fries and that you can taste different beers to be sure you’re choosing one you like. I love«pairing a beer» with the food as you would a wine. I can’t wait to go back! P. S. Check out their happy hours for reduced-price burgers!

Stout is a very cool indoor-outdoor bar and restaurant located on Ventura Blvd. Stout has various other locations throughout LA, but this review is for the one in Studio City. This restaurant is reasonably priced, and has a great, unique beer selection. Stout is a perfect place to go to unwind and relax at the end of a long day. The ambiance and atmosphere here is hard to beat. The bartenders are nice, service is quick, the environment is cool and has a laid-back feel to it, and the beers are good. The food here is above average, and the burgers are outstanding. Parking can be difficult, as this is located on a busy strip of Ventura Blvd, but meter parking is free after 8, and as a last resort, you can park across the street in the underground shopping center parking lot. I will definitely be back again to this location. This place is also the perfect place to go when waiting to get into Sugarfish. I recommend.

My first time at Stout was a few weeks ago at the Hollywood/Cahuenga location. A friend of mine and I had book marked it months in advance but hadn’t actually taken the plunge(mostly because I am a «one trick pony» that can get stuck on the same restaurants for months on and on.) So one Sunday night I decided to be spontaneous and said«Hey! You know Stout, that place with one of the most amazing veggie burgers according Four Square(yea, I know, I’m so adventurous), let’s give it a go! I was feeling a veggie burger that night an my friend is a hardcore carnivore, so that sealed the deal. We arrive and are promptly greeted by the host, whose is rather friendly and warm. She takes us to our table and quickly takes our drink orders, handing us some menus in the process. We start looking through them and I quickly jump to the«Veggie» section of the menu. «The Bollywood» and«Cali Fresh» are the options featured, both made with a black bean and quinoa base. Our waitress soon comes to our table and asks if we are ready to order. So here’s the thing about me which is kind of a given whenever I go to a restaurant, I will always ask the waiter/waitress what they like best. Some friends find this annoying, but to me its a fail proof system that usually leads towards complete satisfaction. I proceed to ask what options she likes best from the two veggie burgers, and to my shock, she recommended the more underrated of the two. Putting my faith in her suggestion, I ordered«The Cali Fresh». To describe this burger; divinity in your mouth. The black bean and quinoa patty is a proportional blend of both legumes, just the perfect blend, leaving no way for either to over power one’s taste buds. Then there’s the sauce used on the burger; thousand island dressing(come on, you can’t go wrong with thousand island on a burger), simple but the perfect touch. You have this along with some pepper jack cheese, avocado, a wheat bun that is soft and fresh, and voila; vegetarian perfection! I devoured this burger within minutes and was a happy, happy camper. My friend said I was missing out on the true experience, as he too devoured his pick, The Stout Burger, in a matter of minutes. But as a non-vegetarian who just LOVES his veggie burgers, I had to give the highly rated offerings at Stout a go. Needless to say, the burger lived up to its reputation. After this first time though, I got on to thinking«Hmm, if their veggie burgers at that freaking delicious, maybe I should try some of their beef options, what they’re ACTUALLY known for.» A week or so later, I say to my same friend«Hey, want to give Stout another go?» He ecstatically says yes and suggests we go to the bigger, seemingly busier location in Studio City. I agreed. This time around we arrived at a later hour than our first time and the crowd is beginning to mellow out. The host was up to par with that of the Hollywood/Cahuenga location; she is nice and fast. We get our menus, our drink orders taken, and we were given time to ingest the menus. The Stout Burger, The Goombah, The Shu Burger, The Morning After, The Imperialist, there are so many options for me to choose from! So, as previously mentioned, I resort to my known mechanism and ask the waiter«What option do you like best?» He answered The Stout Burger, to which I think«Yea dude, obviously you are going to suggest that, it’s like the most popular item on every social media site that mentions this place.» Conflicted between The Stout Burger or giving the Bollywood a try(I can be neurotic at times and this veggie option was beginning to resonate in my head), I stuck to my original plan and went with the signature, BEEF option Stout in known for. My friend also ordered this same burger(and he mocks me for being redundant, pfft!). Our burgers arrive and I brace myself. I am a bit thrown back because I could see the blood oozing out of the patty, something I have never been the biggest fan of because, well, I am just not the biggest fan of that. I take my first bite… and oh-my-God! It’s ummm, ummm, ummm! This burger! I took bite after bite followed by moan after moan. The bacon– crispy, savory, dripping in oil, and with the hints of rosemary which made it pop out in its distinct flavor, mixed together with the cheeses(blue, emu gruyère, the best.) The grilled onions were sweet and not too greasy, and the horse radish sauce gave it the finishing kick, and I hate anything horse radish. The bun was soft and help all the components together tightly. All in all, this is the best burger I have EVER consumed. To sum up this excessively long review, Stout is the great spot for a late night burger and hanging out with friends, even the Vegetarian/Vegan ones. A special shout out to the hosts, especially Alex who rotates between all three locations. Alex is friendly, efficient, and makes it a note to remember me and my friends, names included. Five stars to Stout all the way!

I’m a regular here. I’ve never had a bad experience! Fantastic burgers. Perfect medium cook every time, delicious juicy meat, and a sweet bun to soak it up. My personal favorites are the Truffle Shuffle, which is rich and luxurious, and the Imperialist, which is somehow very nostalgic for me… The tomato-mustard-relish combo tastes like a gourmet version of a McDouble ;) Honestly, the first time I tried it I think tears welled up in my eyes. The seasoned fries and sweet potato fries are both great, especially if you get the chipotle aioli for dipping. That stuff is like crack. The beer list is unmatched, and constantly changing. I’ve found some of my very favorite beers here! And they’re always fantastic about letting you try a few samples before you decide what draft to get :) Service is always friendly, and I love the casual atmosphere and open air seating.

Went with a group and had the morning after burger, fries and onion rings. The burger was fantastic… I only found it lacking a tiny hint of salt… The fries and onion rings were perfect. Our waitress Illiana was wonderful and extremely accommodating. Will definitely be back!

With 2 people I know giving this 5 stars I had my hopes up. Service– inattentive and snobby. Location– cool location on Ventura Blvd. with very limited indoor seating(I believe two small tables) with the majority of seating being outdoors. Unilocal lists their hours as one time however we arrived 2 hours before closing and they said they were closing soon. Huh? They let us eat. I said Unilocal should change the hours and they told me they close depending on business if it’s not busy. Umm so call ahead I guess? Food– fries were not good. At all. We got the special fries which were not special. They had a sauce on top to make the fries soggy. We got onion rings and it was not good either. I liked the tempura light batter but the grease was extreme. The burgers– my husband and I both got different burgers– mine was the Stout and his was the truffle burger. I thought the beer used in the burger was overpowering and not good. I think I was expecting the best burger I ever had, and it just was too hyped up. Our 2 friends with us loved the burgers and really were speaking highly of them. So I guess this place is for someone, just not me.

Pure deliciousness!!! So good I came back the next day and I’m glad that I did because I was able to try two new menu items before they debut on the menu! Although I enjoyed every favoring moment, I’m giving it 4 stars because of their no additive rule. Can’t really get mad at it because it’s on the menu, and being in the industry it makes it easier for workers. However, as a customer, I like to add avocado to every and with that not being an option it breaks my spirit. I’d also like to see them have a better selection of wine, for those of us who don’t drink beer. It’s also on the pricy side since everything is al carte so don’t forget to bring your wallet! First day: Pretzel– it’s on a secret menu, you just ask for it and choose the sauces you’d like for dipping. Chipotle is smoky. I ordered an extra truffle aioli, that comes with the truffle burger and used it as my dipping! If you can’t decided on which burgers to get, pick two and split them with a friend like I did. Day 2: I have no idea what they are calling the new fries, but you MUST get them! They have porshito, green onions and an Alfredo type sauce. The burger I had also had this sauce, coleslaw, tomatoes and bacon. I’m not a fan of coleslaw or tomatoes, but the tastes just blended together so nicely that I forgot. Lol. Bread pudding– freshly made, so you want to keep that in mind when ordering it’ll take 15 mins, chocolate chips and butterscotch topped with vanilla ice cream!

Saw a thing on IG today about how all LA Stout locations were donating 20% of their proceeds to AdoptTogether, which I guess is an organization that helps raise money for families that want to adopt but can’t really afford all the fees. It was a good excuse to go against the budget that bae has me on and eat a burger… in the name of the children of course. They’re doing it the last Wednesday of each month until April so that’s at least 3 more $ 11 burgers in my calendar(In the name of the children, remember?) I’ve been meaning to try this thang for awhile and used DoorDash tonight to have it delivered to my cave. I slithered to the door in my lazy glory and had the«Morning After Burger» which is basically a bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg on it and some kind of sauce that was BBQ’ish(If the chef reads this he’ll be writhing from my culinary ignorance LMAO). Verdict: EXTREMELYDELICIOUS. I’ll have to dine-IN next time so I can properly Unilocal with my amazing iPhone 5S fossil photography skills. To be continued as I will rate service next time.

The Stout burger is the best burger I’ve had in LA. It was cooked perfectly, super juicy, bomb diggity horseradish cream. I don’t usually like blue cheese but it was great on dis burger with the gruyère. Oh my gawd so gooood. They have a good beer and wine selection too if you wanna get a little buzz goin while you’re eating dat tasty burger. I’d recommend it. Surprised to see the reviews noting bad service. Service was good for us.

I had a very average experience at Stout. Valet parking is $ 5, beer is tap(and a large selection at that), and burgers are decent. I got the Stout burger, but wasn’t able to fully savor the flavor. Every single bite I took was only the overpowering taste of the horseradish they used. After I was half done with my burger, I started getting a very sweet(sugary) aftertaste. The beer selection is very good. I got the lightest beer that complimented my burger the best. Unfortunately I can’t remember the name of the beer. It won’t be my first choice of lunch, but I’ll go back someday.

While waiting to get seated at Jinya(Saturday evening, long waits). What better way to fill the time than grabbing a quick beer? Came with two of my closest friends from high school. It was actually our Alma mater’s homecoming that evening. So nostalgia quickly ensued as the beers were handed to us. Talking about homecoming, prom dates, & football games. Stout had to be the most perfect place to simply walk across to. Loved their bar. Wooden floored & designed. The bar circulated and curved which made the seating more comfortable. Good beer choices on tap, I mean it’s Stout. They have a whole menu on Ales, Wheats, Belgians. Go with the beer your heart desires & be merry. Bartender was cool, staff’s funny. They couldn’t help but photobomb a picture. Nothing beats the kind of restaurant staff/workers who can joke around with their customers, all in good manner. Overall, no question. Would go again. Easy.
