The Bar Method

I had my first bar method class with Caroline, and it was such an amazing experience! She counts you through all the steps, suggests modifications for easier/​harder positions, and walks around the room to make sure you are using the best form possible. It sounded like she knows many of the class members by name, and she calls out encouragements and modifications for each person throughout the class — such an attentive and awesome instructor!
The class gets pretty full, but there was enough room by the mirrors/​bars and on the floor. Class members are diverse — beginners to advanced, and a wide age range as well. The locker rooms, classroom, and equipment are all super clean. The exercise room is lightly air conditioned, lights dimmed during cool down, and the instructor turn on upbeat pop music during the class.
Single classes are $ 25 and new customers get a special monthly deal. I’m definitely coming back and bringing all my girlfriends. Thanks Caroline!

Not only an amazingly detailed full body workout, but this particular studio houses outstanding instructors, all distinctive in their own styles, but who share the same attention to detail in posture and form so that you truly maximize the benefit of each exercise. Kudos to owners, Alysia and Kat, for fostering such a great venue.

I am a Bar Method addict… and the the Studio City staff are all outstanding! Words to describe each instructor is encouraging, happy, energetic, challenging and you can tell they definitely love what they do!!! I always feel super-​good and strong after a work out and even after nearly 4 years of doing BM (wherever I’m traveling… Bernardsville NJ, Houston TX, Plano TX, Costa Mesa CA, San Francisco, CA, or St. Louis MO), I’m still addicted!!! Alysia, Kate, Alison, Courtney, and Caroline… keep up your outstanding work!

I had given up on barre classes. My hips just got tighter and I didn’t feel like the changes were positive… more like I was getting slowly injured. *Cough Pop Physique* I decided to try Bar Method, walking distance from my place and they offered an into month deal of $ 75. Can’t beat that… even if I’m not a fan I won’t be losing too much money.
I honesty love the classes and it feels so much better on my hips/​joints. Carpet flooring, risers and soft mats for your hips. Kat, Courtney and Caroline are great instructors and they make great adjustments, so you don’t hurt yourself. It’s an intense class, but I’m seeing results without any side issues. Hooray! They might not be as affordable as other studios, but you see why; Bar Method doesn’t scrimp on their facilities/​employees. They actually make the effort to make it a safe and kick ass workout. I’m definitely going to commit to this place!

My son was born at the end of January. The Bar Method has been perfect in helping me start to get back in shape and start to shed some of the baby weight. I feel so much stronger and toned than I did when I first started 6 weeks ago. Before the Bar Method, I hadn’t worked out in over a year since I’d had such a tough pregnancy and was very sick through most of it. Needless to say, when I started the Bar my muscles were pretty much mush. I had no ab strength at all and zero flexibility. Now just 6 weeks later, I can hold a plank in multiple positions, my arms/​legs/​butt/​abs feel stronger and tighter, and my flexibility has improved to the point where I can almost do the splits!
Alysia and Kat, the co-​owners are amazing and very encouraging instructors. Their workouts are always super challenging yet still fun (yes even through the pain… you learn to love the burn, Lol). I always feel so strong and energized after a workout. I’m totally hooked on the Bar Method! The studio is clean, with all the amenities you could possibly need and FREE parking. Need I say more?

This is a great place to get focused and fit. My friend dragged me to my first class in December and I’ve been a total addict ever since. Always a night owl, I am now an early riser because I gotta get my bar on at 8:30 AM. The instructors are so amazing. They will help you make micro-​adjustments that really let you get the most out of your workout. All the instructors are great, but I get an extra charge out of Kat. Any instructor who can make you laugh while you workout is da bomb!

I became a Bar Method student in 2010 at the West Hollywood location, which I loved. I moved to the valley in 2013 and was so sad that I couldn’t continue doing Bar. In 2014, this Studio City location opened and changed my life! It’s a beautiful and clean studio run by two of the very best, Alysia and Kat! That being said, ALL of the instructors (Alison, Caroline and Courtney) are amazing, you never have to worry about who is teaching because you know it will be a great class! The community is also great, everyone is devoted and encouraging. And the icing on the cake? They have the best retail section of any studio! Alysia has even special ordered items for me because I am so obsessed with work out clothes. I travel a lot for work, and I visit other studios because I love Bar Method, but I am always happiest when I am at my home studio, Bar Method Studio City. Thanks gals!!!

I took a short break from Bar Method recently due to some traveling. I started to contemplate cancelling my account because it was getting difficult to make time for the classes with everything going on. However, before I made any decisions, I went back for one more class. Just like that, I was hooked. AGAIN! I’ve been taking Bar Method classes for about 4 years and it’s been the only fitness routine that I’ve been doing consistently. I finally found a workout that I loved and was committed to maintaining and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to give it up.
The Studio City location is absolutely great! The staff is very friendly. The instructors are amazing and really motivate you to push harder. The studio itself is very clean and welcoming. I love this place. It’s my escape from the day’s worries and stress. It’s a place where I can focus on me and no one else.

Everything about this place is wonderful. Most importantly to me, the instructors are just the absolute sweetest, funniest, most inspiring people. Alysia and Kat, who own the studio, are not only some of the best fitness instructors around, but are also some of the best people around. The workout is killer and it really leans your body out. This place helped me lose 40 pounds for my wedding and I was thrilled with the way I looked. Finally, the community is pretty great, too. There are a lot of really sweet women here and it’s a very welcoming environment.

Love this place! Besides being the best workout, the ample parking, beautiful facilities, the accommodating owners and staff always make you feel welcomed and glad you came to class. All the teachers are great, doesn’t matter who is teaching, I always feel like I get a great workout in! Thanks Studio City!

Three things:
1. My first «thing» is actually two: Kat and Alysia. You won’t meet two more wonderful owners than these stellar ladies. They truly make Bar Method Studio City feel like a family; from day one they knew my name and ever since have made me feel like a welcome member of this (sweaty) community. As teachers they are beyond outstanding, and the tone they set for the studio as a whole is one of warmth and inspiration.
2. The comfort of the studio environment is beyond fantastic. Everything is pristine — the clean locker room, the bright workout space, the spa-​esque lobby. So many exercise establishments feel daunting, impersonal, or snobbish; Bar Method Studio City is anything but. (It makes it ALMOST a pleasure to walk in for class… until you think about push ups.)
3. And speaking of push ups, the workouts are orchestrated with a precision and care that makes you keep coming back to these amazing instructors time and time again. Kat, Alysia, Caroline… they navigate you through the hour with a graceful pace that pushes and challenges you in all the right ways. They are obsessive (in a GOOD way!) about perfecting your form, and they truly transform an insanely difficult experience into something that I am SO proud to have accomplished at the end of every session I attend. They are the epitome of motivation, and I’m so lucky to be part of the world at Bar Method Studio City!

My friend got me addicted to Bar Method last year, and now I’ve found a great home in the Studio City location! Bar Method is so satisfying, physically — you really feel great for the rest of the day because of the work you did in class.
I was always shy about taking exercise classes, but Bar Method is perfect because everyone focuses so hard on their form and themselves, that you don’t have any time to feel self-​conscious. Although, why would you — you look like a ballerina!

Bar Method Studio City is everything I want in an exercise régime. The classes work my core, strength & posture. The owners Alysia & Kat run a fabulous business. They are warm and friendly with a positive outlook. All their instructors are really great and have their own personalities so taking any class is a treat. The studio is clean, well stocked with all the amenities you would want. They have cute workout clothes for purchase and they get new stuff regularly. One of my favorite things about this location is their fun month long challenges. This month is bar bingo. These challenges help me to stay on track and stay motivated to go to class. They have lots of classes throughout the day so there are lots of opportunities to make it to class. Bar Method Studio City is truly a gem in a city of many choices. I highly recommend Bar Method Studio City. Come join the fun.

Absolutely love the Bar Method workout. The location is very good with plenty of parking. The studio itself is bright and Spotless!!! And the girls, they are the best, all of them. Great positive attitude, energetic, very motivating, you get personal attention. They know your name!!! Love love love it. They have a $ 75 special for May. What a great deal. Highly recommend.

I’ve done a lot of different types of exercise. crossfit, spin, boxing, trx, etc and nothing has changed my body like Bar Method with such low impact! My knees, wrists, and ankles thank me.
Amazing teachers who remember your name and make sure you have proper form during your workout!
The only downside is the better you get at all the moves/​exercises the harder the classes become because you realize which muscles to focus on. ;)

I have been coming for about a month and a half now 3 days a week. I would come more if my schedule allowed it. I am already starting to see results. Results make me happy. The classes are challenging and challenge me to bring my best me to class. I feel great after class. I love that all the instructors make a point to learn your name. It’s a small thing that makes a big difference in keeping me motivated, but also feeling valued as a paying customer. I work hard to earn my money and it is important to me to spend it at a studio that welcomes and values me.

I can’t recommend this studio highly enough. I had never done anything like this before and was a bit apprehensive about starting something that I felt could be quite intimidating. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
The instructors made me feel so welcome from my very first class and emphasized how it didn’t matter what level of fitness I was. They remember everyone’s names and are always careful to make sure you are doing the moves right, offering alternatives for all levels. The classes are full of encouragement and enthusiasm and I have to say this is the first time in a long time that I actually want to exercise. My flexibility and strength have improved hugely in the two months that I have been going.
The studio is in a great location with free parking. I would definitely recommend signing up for the first month unlimited special offer. You will be hooked!

I love love love The Bar Method! Over the past few years, I’d lost my motivation to consistently work out and I have an extra 20 pounds to show for it. Seeing how bummed I’d felt about being out of shape, my boyfriend signed me up for the 30 days unlimited as Christmas gift. Little did he know that after one class I would be hooked and his «gift» would turn into a monthly membership!
I used to dance as a child so I was pretty familiar with most of the moves in class, and although they look easy, they definitely don’t feel easy! The Bar Method mostly consists of repetition of moves and focuses on form which is how you will end up seeing results. I’ve gone consistently since mid-​January and although I haven’t weighed myself, I’ve seen a small difference in my physique and my clothes fit a little looser. I expect to see a significant difference in another 3 months or so.
I love the instructors here, too. I usually take classes from Caroline and Kat — they are super funny and always remember my name and my progress. I love how they offer corrections during class to make sure you’re always in perfect form.
Also, free parking is a plus! My biggest pet peeve is to pay for parking and the shopping center where the studio is located has plenty of it!
Don’t hesitate to take a class here. You will become addicted to how empowered you feel afterwards!

It’s been more than a year, and yes, I’m still hooked. (I guess that’s what an addiction entails.) They have now expanded their awesomeness to Sarah who kicks ass at making my legs sore and quiver, even after a year of this.
So a year later, I can actually almost do the splits now, which was considered an impossibility in my uncoordinated life, and I have made quite a dent in my beer gut where there might actually be abs coming in place.
With classes all throughout the day and night, free parking, kickass teachers — there’s no excuses to miss a workout. Second year, here I come.
