We’ve been going to Greystone Castle for years and can report that it’s incredibly predicable: Good food(considering it’s a bar), good service, better atmosphere than most bars in Door County. The ambianceis mostly why we come back. There are always friendly locals at the bar and the walls are filled with trophies(i.e. mammals, fish and fowl), lending an authentic northwoods feel that is classic and casual. Food: 3+ stars Service: 3+stars Atmosphere: 4 stars

Everytime I’m in Door County I stop for the prime rib sandwich. It’s a must-have. Everything else on their menu is great too.

Friendly service. Serves food later than other places(to my limited knowledge) near Bridgeport. Wonderful prime rib sandwich, tasty chicken sandwiches and fantastic fish on Friday. Thanks!

Great food in a northern Wisconsin bar setting. There is not denying the interior of this place is really going for the classic bar feel of the northwoods. And that is what makes it charming in its own way. It doesn’t have the fancy feel, which is sometimes great when you are coming off the water after a day of being in the sun and swimming in the bay. The family goes quite a bit, my parents are friendly with the staff and bartenders when we dine in. When I lived in the area for the summer I would get take out by myself as well. All good experiences. As many others have mentioned when it comes to the food… the prime rib sandwich is BOMB. and a value as well, I think it is around 10 dollars and oh my it is worth its weight in gold. Yum yum. I also am a sucker for any place that serves sweet potatoes and they do here so that is a major plus. All around a great place to stop in and eat, cost effective and satisfying.

My friend and I came here because this place was recommended to us by some locals. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst burgers I have ever had. I had the venison burger with fries. I love venison so I was super excited to see this option on the menu! The burger had a smell so unappetizing that i couldn’t finish more than ¼ of my burger. I’m hoping it was just an unlucky visit on my end. Our server was very kind and attentive, however!

Locals seem to love this place. Wife and I got a couple of burgers. Mushroom and swiss was good. Decent gravy; not to salty. Fries done right. Cheese curds maybe needed another minute. Good bar food. Nice clean place. Good value.

I saw a few previous reviews saying they were slow… I mildly agree… But when you’re on vacation and away from the big city, who cares, really. Outdoorsy atmosphere, nothing special as far as décor, but family room type comfort. A party of 20+ seated a few minutes before us. Both servers were very apologetic and explained the situation, which is more than other restaurants do(eh hmmm, read previous reviews of mine regarding other establishments in Door County). Talking to your customers and acknowledging them can cure a lot of frustration and upset. Our food arrived and the onion rings were HUGE! Like clown size… And really good! I had the mushroom Swiss burger, my partner had bacon cheese burger. They were also HUGE. We should have split a burger. Also, the burgers are all $ 6−7… Very reasonable and under priced in my opinion for what you get. Sides are separate, but need to also be split because the portions are so large. Great food for little cost, very friendly staff, great place for an afternoon lunch… And then a nap.

Agree with everyone, onion rings and burger were great. Their tiger sauce(horseradish and mayo) was awesome, and drinks were cheap. The bartenders/served were really nice, and the bar went from quiet Cheers style pub to clubby when a bar crawl rolled through. It works either way!

Service was friendly and prompt. Prime rib sandwich was spectacular and the prime rib soup phenomenal. Drinks were mixed perfectly and the wall décor won’t leave you bored. Absolutely love this place.

Truly the worst burger I’ve ever had in my life. The bun was cold and soggy. The meat was flavorless except for the taste of despair. It was like my tastebuds got in a bar fight and lost badly. The poor waitress had to serve the entire restaurant so the added indignity of waiting forever for horrible food was only a bonus. Gordon Ramsey himself couldn’t save this place. Do yourself a huge favor and skip it.

I was traveling for work and we asked the hostess at the hotel were some good food places in town where. She said for burgers try the greystone. The place looks really cool because its designed as an old castle. Inside there were quite a few dead and stuffed things on the walls, actually way to many. Service was slow only one person working the entire room and the bartender. Ordered some burgers and beers and watched the football game that was on. The burgers were extremely greasy and not much meat it got lost in the bun. Not much flavor either, I had to put lots of mustard and ketchup on mine. Nothing amazing, slow service, creepy inside, not going back.

I was traveling for work a few months this year in door county and I have got to say this place has the burgers in all of door county. The food was always phenomenal and the service too. I couldn’t think of a single bad thing to say.

This is a bar with really good food. The décor is an outdoorsy motif complete with bears, deer and fish mounted on the walls. Beyond that, there are some casino games, TV, and darts. Now to the food. The burgers come in Elk, Venison, Bison or Beef and are very good. There is also chicken on the menu and fish on Friday. The sides are all a la cart and include fries, cheese curds, onion rings, and mushrooms. You will pay a little more than at some other restaurants, but we keep returning because the food is very good. The décor and price is why I went with 3 stars.

My hubby & I were visiting the area for a mini-winter getaway. We stayed at the Bridgeport Resort & were stoked to find this place was in walking distance. Before we booked our trip, we asked our friends/family that are familiar with the area of the best bars & restaurants to visit — every single one recommended Greystone, and after eating there I know why! The first night of our trip we went there & got dinner. The jalapeño poppers appetizer(with your choice of cream cheese, cheddar, or a mixture of both — we opted for the mix) were awesome! Very clearly freshly made to order. I got the Prime Rib Sandwich. It was phenomenal! The meat was so tender, the bread was fresh & the perfect compliment to the prime rib. The pickle added super yummy tang & I was tempted to drink the jus on it’s own — & I’m not usually a jus person; I hate the idea of soggy bread, but in this instance it was so so so good! We went back the next day for a late lunch & we both got burgers. There’s some kind of cheap special, though I can’t remember what it is. Best burger I’ve had that I can think of. OH! I almost forgot — the breaded mushrooms! Get them. Get them, & then bring me some. The service was great; super friendly & very familiar(love my Wisconsin peeps). And they serve until 10 or 11pm, which was great for us — it was a Sunday night & we knew we were going to want to grab a late bite after having some drinks, before going back to the hotel. If you’re visiting Sturgeon Bay, definitely make a point to stop at Greystone Castle!

I met friends here for lunch. I was late to arrive and the waitress was expecting me. She took my order and got it in immediately. I ordered the fish sandwich I wasn’t impressed with the canned soda. You’d think a sport bar would have a fountain soda. I didn’t like all the animals mounted on the wall stareing at me while I ate their relatives. The fish sandwich was 3 deep fried perch fillets served on a large bun with lettuce and tartar sauce on the side. It was a mediocre sandwich, but it was rather inexpensive. Given the ambiance and the food quality, I won’t go out of my way to come back unless meeting friends who insist on it.

Great find! Don’t be fooled by the outside of this corner bar and the let’s say northern electic indoor décor. They are experts at prime rib and the porterhouse was very tender and tasty, both Sat night specials! Started with the combo basket, we thought what the heck didn’t eat much all day. It was Paul Bunyon size mushrooms, onion rings, and curds. All perfectly breaded not greasy at all. We had to take half of the basket home(kids are going to love). It was so refreshing to have such great quick and friendly service, our server Steven was fantastic! Door County your proving to us there are some great places to eat in WI!

Not a favorite. The burgers are good but greasy. The curds were dripping in grease and flavorless. The beer is pedestrian American macrobrews; Leinies is the best they have. The décor is an attempt at «rustic», but is just a bunch of old dead animal mounts on the walls. It still smells like stale smoke from before the smoking ban. On the upside, prices are very reasonable.

After reading all these great reviews on here we picked here to eat dinner our first night in town. You sit down whenever a table opens up. They took over a hour to get out an appitizer, and then it was some of the worst food I’ve ever ate. The oil they used had to have been over a month old and it was burnt on top of it. The fish was just nasty! For places that are right there on a beautiful lake, we should be eatting fresh fish caught that day. Save your money and your tummy and find another place to eat that cares about what they are serving out!

Prime Rib sandwich! Yes please! Thankfully our bartender recommended this! After a long drive from Minneapolis, this really hit the spot! Tasty Prime Rib on grilled french bread, served with a side of au jus.
