Little known gem! I’m so glad we found them! I just moved to Sudbury and had my almost 3 year old enrolled in daycare that I was really happy with. When moving to Sudbury, it took awhile to find the right fit for him. I wanted to enroll him full time and I looked at the following: Sudbury Children’s Learning Center: Keri, the director here is amazing! She gave me the warm and fuzzy feeling that I was looking for. The outdoor space is nice. They have some new climbing structures and then some older toys that have seen better days, but isn’t that what childhood is about? I spent a lot of time here before enrolling my son. The children here actually have fun and learn. It’s an easy commute from home. Some of the other places in Sudbury are on Route 20, including Next Generation Children’s Center, and it can be painful during the morning and evening commute. I also felt like some of the other places felt too corporate. Being NAEYC accredited was very important to me and only SCLC and Bright Horizons met that requirement. My son has been here more than 2 months and I am so happy with my decision! LEAP School: The Director had a very thorough presentation and she was very pleasant to meet with. I was impressed with their facilities, especially the outdoor spaces. It seemed like the Harvard of preschool options, but it looked like it was more for the parents than the kids I also didn’t like the options they had available for schedule — 2 day, 3 day, 5 day, full-time or part-time. If I had my son in full time, they would switch him from one room to another room with part time kids. Bright Horizons: I thought the staff was nice and I thought the facilities were clean. However, I thought the outdoor play space was small. Next Generation Children’s Center: I wanted to love NGCC because I have heard so many good things about them from others in town. They have a wonderful menu of food they serve and the facility is clean and safe. My biggest problem was staff turnover. It seemed like they might be growing a little too quickly. The two teachers that would have been in my son’s room were almost brand new. I also thought the outdoor space was a bit stark. The staff did a great job of making sure the kids didn’t get hurt, but the environment seemed stifled and the children didn’t seem to have fun! Orchard Hill Children’s Center: The Director here is excellent! It’s very clean and they seem like a well run facility. I really respect the kindness the staff has toward the children. It’s not as institutional as NGCC or Bright Horizons. I just prefer the location, outdoor space, and additional programs(gymnastics, science program, swim) offered by Sudbury Children’s Learning Center.
