Their cole slaw is excellent. I drive up from The Bronx to get their cole slaw. It’s fresh and better than mom’s. (hope she doesn’t see this).

I love JR ! I have been shopping there for over 15 years and have never been disappointed. Their fish and meat is fresh and delicious. I have tried almost everything they sell and I have always been satisfied. Most important the service is impeccable they are a team of caring individuals! Love you guys!!!

Used to be our go to fish market in the area. Very disappointing. We won’t be back. Didn’t feel like taking our yearly trip down to Spikes, so thought we would relax and order seafood from local market. Some of our shrimp clearly not fresh had that iodine taste and different sizes. Think they gave us Caribbean lobster tails — clearly ordered Maine tails. Felt cheated and sad to see this market no longer the quality we had appreciated. Maybe too much competition from places like Fairway taking this mom and pop seafood market down. Sad

Olive Oil, Soy, sea salt, pepper — Get that Weber Grill to 700 Degrees and Sear the f*ck out of it for 30 seconds each side…
It would be impossible to be disappointed by this place!

Cool place, came in on my lunch to grab some fish for dinner. The guy was nice and made a suggestion based on what I was trying to do. Selection seems small but he had what I needed and a few other things I was interested in trying. Found this place online.

J&R is absolutely, positively the BEST fish market/​gourmet butcher in Rockland County. All of the fish and meat is superior quality. Gabe and his team run the store very efficiently, they are very friendly and will answer any questions you may have about how to cook something etc. I strongly recommend them to supply food for you to cook, or for them to cater your next BBQ, holiday party or any affair that calls for fish/​seafood apps or meals or high quality meats such as burgers, steaks, and veal. For all of you Fairway lovers… their prices are better than Fairway AND the quality is better then Fairways too.

JR’s is fantastic. Fish is always amazingly fresh. Top quality. More expensive then the supermarkets, but… the taste is worth every penny and more. A lot of wild caught fish options from US and Canada vs Thailand, China, etc. from the supermarkets.
Staff is very friendly and very helpful. Their pre-​cooked fish is also perfect. I love their shrimp cocktail. They also carry prime meats. Ordered a whole filet for New Year’s dinner. Steak house quality.

Love, love, love this fish market. You will get the best seafood and if you want delicious cooked meals. They are really the freshest seafood place around. My husband tried to trick me by buying fish from another store bc he got to JR too late. I knew by the first bite that the fish was not from JR. If you love fresh seafood this is the only place to buy fish. Also, they sell murrays chickens, quality chop meat and other meats. Since there aren’t any good butchers around I don’t think it is weird to buy meat from a fish store. All the guys behind the counter are helpful and really nice. Also in a pinch if you want something yummy for the kids to eat and need it quick but don’t want to go through some hideous drive thru get the tilapia fish sticks. They fry them up and your kids will love them. All fish, no filler.

I’ve shopped at many fish/​meat markets where they claim that theirs is the freshest and the selection is vast. However, none can top JR’s. The quantity/​weight and value of each selection whether it is fish, chicken or fillet Mignon cannot be beat. The highest in quality and freshness. If there is an item that I am looking for, they will order it for me. Any occasion, they will cater. They are reliable and consistent!
