So this place was kind of a roller coaster of emotions lol I really had to think about how to rate it because my visit varied so much. So we walk in, sit, and I’d say it took a good 15 minutes to get noticed. There wasn’t any sign to wait to be seated and it was about 215 on Saturday, so people were around but it wasn’t packed. When we ordered I got a Coke, my husband got a Diet Coke. The waitress returned giving us each the wrong drinks, and in very dirty glasses. Like seriously gross glasses with stuff floating in it. So she apologized, got us both new drinks. I then went to the bathroom and not only was the sign on the women’s door missing so I couldn’t tell if I was in the right spot– but the bathroom was a wreck disgusting. The floor was covered in what I hope to be water. The toilet moved around like, I sat on it and the entire thing shifted back and forth. So I was kind of like okay I wish I had any other choice than to use this haha so then I noticed when I got back to my table that on the bar there’s like 30 – 40 dirty glasses there. It’s been here the entire time. We were there from 215 – 320 and it was there the entire time. I even took a photo because I was like uhhhh no wonder our glasses were dirty… So by now you’re like my god this place sounds awful, right? Okay but then the food came out and it was ONPOINT delicious. Like seriously an incredibly delicious meal. We both got the cowboy it was amazing. So then I was torn because the entire visit thus far had been awful but the food… Was so great. So here we are at 3 stars lol so THEN the waitress brought us the wrong check– not only did they bring us the wrong check but they charged us incorrectly, basing it off another check we were not given to begin with. Meaning, we got a check for $ 20, then when we got our receipt we were charged for someone else’s check of $ 66. So two stars it is lol Come here, shut your eyes at everything else and just enjoy

I am giving baron’s a 5 star review for the burgers and fries alone. I have tried almost all of the specialty burgers and haven’t had one I didn’t like. Best burgers I have ever had to date and authentic skin-on fries. Mmmm-mmmm! I also have had the pleasure of having various other dishes from here and would recommend them all(broiled scallops, tuna steak sandwich, fried pickles, she crab soup, etc etc). The only thing I was disappointed in the last time I stopped in were the nachos. I don’t know if someone was having a rough night or what but it was the most pitful looking plate of chips I have ever seen. Which is odd because usually they are pilled high and delicious! If you want your life changed for the better by a tasty burger, stop in and see for yourself. :)

Went with a couple of the falla’s from work for a customer meeting and landed here for our repast. Nice place although parking can be challenging. It’s a corner store, with on street or VERYLIMITED parking lot, at least as far as we could tell. Got inside, there want a crowd, and we were seated. Our waitress, albeit polite and very friendly, seemed new and wasn’t being walked with a trainer and being shown the ropes. The menu looks like a lot of good foods, and I settles on a burger loaded with jalapenos and pepperjack cheese. Very tasty burgers, and the fries were really good. Crispy outside, soft on the inside. I wont make a special trip back out here, but it definitely makes the list of places if I find myself out there for sure.

If I could give negative stars I would here. The little flies constantly buzzing around the table and our food were unacceptable. It took 15 minutes just to get seated even though the place had plenty of tables empty. Upon seating we sat another 7 or 8 minutes before we were asked for drink orders. The waitress wasn’t knowledgeable about the menu and couldn’t answer questions about the menu items. 25 minutes after our appetizers were put in the waitress came back and told me they were out of the item I wanted! I can’t believe it took that long before I was asked to choose something else! It was a full 35 minutes between when the 1st appetizer came out for one side of the table before the main course came out for the same side of the table. How is it possible to bring one side of our table both the appetizer and main course before the other side gets anything??? Then I got my main course before my appetizers. So the one person who ordered something that didn’t need cooking, a sandwich, waited almost an hour and didn’t get his sandwich until 30+ minutes after the rest of us. He was told that earlier they had a big rush! What would that have to do with now and a dish that doesn’t need cooking??? Now the baked potato and fried Oysters had to go back because they were cold. The stuffed mushrooms are burnt and had to go back too. The baked potato came back again so cold it couldn’t melt the cheese on top. So the other food sent back finally came back after everyone else was finished eating. So the manager came by in shorts and a tank top looking so unprofessional and chewing gum to boot. Instead of offering to take the offending meal off the bill she offered half off. Rule number one in customer service is you don’t start arguments with the customer. What ever happened to the customer is always right? This 2 hours has been a terrible restaurant experience that I will call my worst.

Downtown Suffolk on Main Street is the place to eat. The old buildings and the feel is wonderful. Baron’s Pub has very good food! My favorite is their club sandwich. I get it with their potato salad. Their portions are great too! Also, their fries are very tasty! You have to try this place!!!

Stopped in late at night… was, made to feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome by some«regulars» at the bat … seriously. Really not cool. If I ever stop in again and douchebag regulars aren’t given precedenc3… maybe I will change this review…

Very good food especially for the area. The prices are very reasonable. Even the lunch crowd which consists of people who work at the court house seem to love the quality of the food not to mention the daily specials. Monday’s wing night like 0.40 a wing. Dollar taco’s on Tuesdays and baron burger Wednesday’s which is my favorite. Their burgers are the best in downtown Suffolk. Staff are very friendly and food comes out pretty quick even when they are busy. Oh I forgot to mention this place can be pretty packed during football season which is right around the corner. Only a few TV’s line the wall of the bar area so get there early to enjoy a few games. And usually during football season while the games are on they offer ½ off the appetizers which you can’t beat anywhere around here. Give this place a shot and you will be back guaranteed. The drinks are reasonably priced too. A very nice beer selection for the beer aficionado’s. Don’t know what else to say other than check them out pretty nice mellow crowd at night of all ages and backgrounds never had any problems here cool spot.

I work right down the street and barons never fails for a quick take out meal. Ive had a. ouple sandwiches and a salad with buffalo chicken but let me tell you. The Ruben is to DIE for. It is one of the best Rubens in town. It’s made with pastrami on your choice of bread and it goes so well with the home cut fries(which are always cooked perfectly) I highly recommend for anyone

Once upon a time, there was a woman who was too busy to notice a restaurant called Baron’s Pub(BP). It was located in the downtown section of Suffolk, right on the corner of Main Street and Market Street. It took over three years until, finally, the woman decided to walk through their door. When she looked around, she thought it was a bit dated, and BP could have used some renovations – not to mention the musty, old building odor. «I guess I was right not trying this place before,» she said to herself. However, she still wanted to give them a chance. While perusing their menu, she was impressed with their long list of burgers; the Peanut City Sticky Burger really caught her eye. «Peanut butter, bacon, on a burger? Say what?!» She was excited about such an interesting burger. Her salivary glands started to work at the idea of her upcoming meal. When the plate arrived, there was a large steak knife stabbed into the burger. «This place is serious,» she said. Slowly, she used both hands to bring that monstrous half-pound burger to her mouth. As she chewed thoughtfully, her tastebuds thanked her for coming to BP. Peanut butter, bacon, and beef should not work, but for some crazy reason, it does. After she finished her food, she looked at the bill that the server had brought her. She had to take another look because she couldn’t believe her eyes. Not only did BP have the best burgers in Suffolk, but their prices are phenomenal. A half-pound burger with hand-cut fries for $ 9?! It’s like a fairy tale. The woman left BP full, happy, and a bit ashamed that she hadn’t visited sooner. But she knew she would return, and she went home happily ever after. The End

Tuesday night they usually have music and oysters, shrimp and scallops for 65 cents each. Average menu. decent bar food and service. Great environment with parking on the street.

The Baron burger! Wow! visit on Wednesday for lunch and get this special. It is, undoubtedly, the best tasting burger in downtown Suffolk.

Went for Lunch/Early Dinner. Went on a Tuesday, where they had a Taco Special. It is not on the menu. There is Beef, Chicken, Fish & Buffalo Chicken. The chicken and buffalo chicken are nothing special. Beef is good, Fish is best of the bunch. Will try their homemade fried chicken special during lunch on New Years’. Waitress Amanda is amazing, and Hostess Gina is hospitable as well. Menu pricing is very good and reasonable. A father of four can feed his family without totally looking over his shoulder worrying about the bill. You get what you pay for here. Will Recommend!

I am late on this update, however I am only addressing food and service NOT entertainment(still open mic hit or miss). I have been here numerous times for business lunches that I have taken colleagues and visitors. A group of ten of us each ordering different dishes, from the quesadillas, the she crab soup, blackened tuna salad, reuben sandwich and burger. We sat ourselves so no wait. This is the place to go for lunch, a steady lunch crowd of downtown workers. The service was great, not perfect but the waitress was pleasant, put up with one of our group’s PITA(you always get one that wants«this, but not that,» «can you explain this» etc.”) the waitress was way more patient than I was considering the PITA could have RTFM. Anyhow, she did a stellar job considering it was lunch hour. I had the reuben, coleslaw and fries and tea all for about $ 12 w/tax! The reubens here are made with pastrami(versus the cornbeef that Tony’s Famous Grill uses– also delicious) with thousand island on the side and a spear of dill(my least fav part-the pickles they use have a weird taste). The sandwich was huge and tasted like everything you want in a reuben, perfect toasted rye-no soggy spots, meat piled high, just perfect. I’m not a fry person, but these were the bomb, natural cut, crispy, not a grease pile, if I want fries again, this is where I’ll go. The coleslaw was great, shredded not too small, not soupy, not too sweet, just the right sweet and and sour. I sampled the quesadilla, again big and yummy, the she crab soup, OMG again! HUGE chunks of crab meat so good I have gone back and ordered. The tuna salad was beautiful and I’ve ordered it more than once, always beautifully sliced and presented. I didn’t try the burger but my co-worker was in love. Needless to say my visitors were impressed and I got credit for picking the spot :-). My sandwich was so great that one of the guys in the group bought one to take back to DC! The prices are MORE than fair, the food was terrific, and the service was fast. It’s convenient, right on the corner downtown.

I really enjoyed stumbling upon barons pub when my husband and I first moved to suffolk. He’s a pilot so it was fitting. :) each time we’ve been the food was great! Juicy burgers with yummy toppings. Delicious soups! Nice to have live music when you have a beer. A place we will go back to. *not 5 stars because it’s great but it wasn’t the BEST ever in one particular area. A very nice place in downtown suffolk!

There are few eateries in Suffolk that have stood out over the last few years. Barons is one of those places. The year they won the Best Burger in Hampton Roads is when we first noticed them Today we went were burger special. We were seated immediately. Our waitress took order for ice water with lemon and 1 draft veer. Water came quickly. Draft beer took more than 10 minutes. Not sure if beer sat on bar or if order not promptly. Table behind us was seated after us but the received 3 beers before us. We placed order for food. Burger and fries arrived late. Table beside us was seated after our placed and the asked for to go box before our food arrived. Not supprisingly the burger fries and onion rings were almost cold. Made me think 5 Guys & Fries would be a much better choice. Burger was cooked medium as ordered and had good firmness and taste. Fries were cold and greasy. It is a shame the good quality food in kitchen is being served so substandard. Don’t expect to best Burger award to be served here with current operation. Management needs to walk around and see through customers eyes. Burger

Saturday, November 2nd… late, post dinner, pre getting our drink on… We were stunned by the amazing singing duo set up in the corner of the bar area! Amazing! What? Where are we? A M A Z I N G talent in a pub in downtown sleepy Suffolk, VA??? Toto? A little help please! I’m tripping down a rabbit hole and landing on a yellow brick road of kick A$$ singing duo folksy heaven… seriously, people… check out the live talent at Barons and you can thank me later. As for the pub, it was fine. The beer was plentiful and cold. They have a too-enormous large beer and a too-small small beer, which is oddly comical. Either you drink too fast to try and kill the large before it goes warm, or you end up paying too much by buying multiple small doses. The service was awesome. The food was mediocre. The mile high nachos were only a mile high because of the chunks of iceberg lettuce they mounded on top of the plate. Order sans lettuce and see what happens. My guess is that they might be pretty tasty! Come here to enjoy the company, the music, and the beer.
