I have no idea why people LOVE this place. My husband and I visited almost two years ago and have not been back since. Service was ok, nothing to rave about. No one went above and beyond for us. We were the only two people inside and it took over ten minutes to receive our cold, bland food. The ONLY thing that saved our meals was the sauce that we ordered. Will not return.

I trusted the reviews and gave this a try. Good thing, The pulled pork and the country ham are both wonderful and the people there could not be nicer. Despite what people say here you can eat in there. It’s nothing fancy but they have some folding chairs at a long table and some stools to sit at the counter. I have found my bbq source in Suffolk now!

Checked out Rodman’s on a whim and got a couple of pounds of the chopped barbecue pork. The meat was cooked well, not dry or anything. The problems were with the lackluster flavor of the pork and sauce and also with the weird coleslaw. The pork and the sauce were both, in my opinion, completely underwhelming. The sauce(seemingly) primarily consisted of vinegar and water. There wasn’t much to it. Being from the south(Alabama south) I’m particular about my barbecue and this just didn’t do it for me. The coleslaw was orangish and really(to the point of cloying) sweet. It was chopped super fine, the mouth feel was just eww(Pulitzer material right there). My husband liked the meat and sampled their Brunswick stew which he said was delicious. The kids got chicken tenders and seemed to enjoy them. Check out Rodman’s and see if it’s for you, I know we all have different tastes and preferences.

Certainly does not meet my standards. It was extremely salty and what tiny bit of sauce you get is so vinegary it did not add to the flavor. I will be glad to get some real BBQ when I return to Texas.

Went here based on the reviews. It didn’t disappoint. Great BBQ for a good price. The combo I got was a sandwich, coleslaw, fries, peanuts and a drink for $ 7 after tax. The BBQ was tender, moist and prepared NC style with a side of vinegar. Delish, definitely worth the trip. Like others have said, there’s no seating… just take out. They also have fried chicken and pimento cheese, which I didn’t try.

Great hole in the wall spot. The guys working there were very nice. Service was fast, and most importantly the food was great. I got the chopped BBQ combo. The pork was tender and didn’t need any sauce. Although they do provide vinegar on the side and there’s hot sauce if you want. Slaw was very good as well. Better than Pierce’s in my opinion. Would definitely go back.

Great food from a long standing family business. Always willing to go the extra mile for customers. Barry and his staff do a great job of preparing and serving at functions I attend, thanks!

Great BBQ! I’m not usually a fan of baked beans(most are too sweet for me) but these ones are delish. I am also not a fan of slaw, and this one did not change my mind. We ordered the chopped pork for a NYE party and served it on sliders. Wonderful even hours later on warm in the crockpot!

Yes, this place IS open. No, you are not going to be pulled into the back and hacked into pieces(the building looks run down and a little Deliverance-type scary). The bbq here is awesome! Smoky, tender, juicy meat and eastern Carolina vinegar based sauce — super yummy! The slaw and potato salad are good too. This is not a sit down place; carry out only. They mostly do catering — and an excellent job at it. Prices are fair and food is great; what more can you ask for?

Not a restaurant but a take out haven. To set the scene you walk into a block building old & kinda dank. The menu is posted on an open door on yellowed by age paper there are a couple of old folding style tables, the 60’s fluorescent lights buzz and hum this is Carolina style bar b q heaven! They take tour order at the door to the kitchen inside there are 8 or so people doing various tasks to make the Bar B Q pulling saucing etc. Do not let appearances turn you off order a pound and sides from the guy and you will be experiencing true Bar B Q. This is not a sit down and be waited on place it is not fancy there is no bathroom that i know of and it is hard to find and for some it is far out but worth the trip.

I highly recommend these guys! I ordered enough bbq for 50 people for a party I hosted, and the food was amazing! Everyone commented on how they loved the Carolina vinegar based taste. They were very flexible and definitely made it very easy to place my order. Very fair pricing. Couldn’t have asked for better!
