Jeffrey B Wood MD

Dr. Wood is a great doctor. He spends time with his patients, listens to them, and is quite knowledgeable. I would recommend anyone to him.

Dr. Jeffrey Wood, of Methodist Orthopaedics Specialists of Texas in Sugar Land, is one of my top 3 docs I currently use. He is very knowledgeable, and explains everything in terms you can understand, unlike some docs who use textbook explanations. He is caring, personable and yes, even humorous! He has been so very helpful in developing the best treatment plan for me. The office is run smoothly and efficiently, given the substantial amount of patients that come and go on a daily basis. This place is busy! There are approximately 16 –20 physicians, a physical therapy facility upstairs and aquatic therapy, also. So everything you need is all right there, in one place. I am not generous with 5 star reviews, but this man earns all five!!!

I have been going to Dr. Wood for 12 years. He’s an excellent back doctor and surgeon and I highly recommend him.
I have horrible disks (thanks, Dad!) and have had severe back problems since I was 22. I had a herniated disk and lumbar laminectomy by another doctor at age 22 and was happy with the outcome, but knew this wasn’t the end of my problems. That doctor retired and I had problems once again with the same herniated disk at age 28. Enter Dr. Wood. I had another surgery at 28 and then a spinal fusion at 33, both by Dr. Wood. Both surgeries were very successful. You may wonder why I would need repeat surgeries and if you saw my spine, you’d understand.
Both surgeries were done very well. Both times, Dr. Wood had wonderful bedside manner and was very receptive to me. Before the most recent surgery, I was scheduled for surgery but it was Christmas and the surgery was delayed because of the holiday. Something moved in my spine on Christmas Eve and I was a 100+ on the pain scale. I couldn’t move. Dr. Wood stopped what he was doing on Christmas Eve and got me some serious pain killers. These were the kind that you had to have the physical prescription for and could not be called in. So, my husband had to meet him on Christmas eve to get the paper prescription to get it filled. He cares.
I have seen him various times over the years because my L4-​L5 disk doesn’t look great (my fusion was L5-​S1). He always takes his time and moves through the most conservative steps first. He always takes time to ask questions and doesn’t rush me.
If you are looking for a highly skilled spine orthopedist, then Dr. Wood is the one.
