Couldn’t have asked for a better experience in becoming PADI open water certified. I signed up for the PDI open water class which took place over 2 consecutive weekends. The first weekend was the course in the morning and pool dives in the afternoons. The second weekend was 2 lake dives each day. Everyone at the shop, those who taught us and didn’t teach us, were extremely friendly and seemed very knowledgeable and experience in diving. This dive shop really focuses on their students and makes sure they understand the content. As they told us, there is no set pace, the course will go as fast or as slow as they need to go to make sure all participants learn the material and are COMFORTABLE. They do an amazing job with getting everyone comfortable in the gear and being underwater. Not to mention they have fun while teaching you and enjoy being in the water. Our lake dives were in November with cold weather(45 on the surface for our dive on Sunday). The instructors, Phil, Jimmy, and Kendal all were happy to be out there and didn’t hurry along because it was cold. They were thorough and made sure we understood everything. If we were cold then they got us out of the water and made sure we got warm, all were very considerate and knowledgeable. I cannot recommend this dive shop enough. We drove from Galleria for the course and would do it again in a heartbeat. If you’re not sure about getting certified or have always wanted to this dive shop will teach you all the knowledge and get you very comfortable. THANKYOUEVERYONEATTHEDIVESHOPWHOHELPEDUS!!! We enjoyed every minute we spent with you!

My husband and I have been diving for 17 years so we’ve seen a lot of dive operators. Both of my kids got certified thru SLDC at the age of 10(my son just completed his today) and I highly recommend this dive school. All of the instructors have been great… friendly, knowledgeable, patient and accommodating. If you’re looking to get certified, I highly recommend Sugar Land Dive Center.

Just finished my PADI open water certification. I have so many nice things to say about this location. It isn’t the closest to my home — but the others that we visited didn’t seem very friendly or interested in helping me get certified. They seemed like they didn’t care one way or the other. Sugar Land Dive Center was just the opposite. After visiting a couple of other stores on a Saturday afternoon, we finally ended up in Sugar Land extremely close to their closing time. That didn’t matter to them at all — one of the owners was there and she was super helpful(I’m terrible with names but I believe her name is Chris). Her husband is one of the instructors and she spent over half an hour answering our questions and giving us the grand tour of their facility — including their pool. I had some reservations on going through with this because I had only completed one discovery dive and had some issues with ear equalization. Naturally i was a little apprehensive. The people here are super patient and very very knowledgeable. The classroom sessions were great as well. Our instructor was funny, and helpful and again, he really knew his stuff. He made it all make perfect sense. Phil(owner) was the instructor in the pool. He’s awesome. He was super nice, very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. Personality goes a very long way with this kind of setting because if you get stuck with a d-bag, you’re not going to be comfortable. This guy was GREAT. The 2nd weekend of diving was at the 288 Lake — our instructor was Montse, along with dive masters Russel, Keith and Alex. All of them had a fantastic chemistry and worked very well together with our group of six students. They were very attentive, and put everyone at ease. Day two was not as fun because we had different dive masters ‘helping’ out — I wasn’t super impressed with Roger, but that’s not the fault of Sugar Land Dive Center. We just clashed because I tend to not like obnoxious people. Other than that one minor flaw, everything else was perfect. They even let me come in one night after work to have some one on one time with Lisa — another dive master/instructor. She was also amazing and very kind and really helped me get past my nerves enough to feel comfortable enough to dive at the lake. Five stars for this place. If you want to get certified, do yourself a favor and use this facility. Even if it isn’t close to you — it’s worth the drive time. I could have easily gone to the Galleria or Heights area, but I chose this place for a reason. Gut instinct — and i was right on target. Thank you SLDC for helping me get certified. You are the best.

Husband and I just got Padi certified through this location. The entire experience was great! Instructor, dives, etc =) We can’t wait for our Hawaii trip and use this new found knowledge! I know we’re more than ready for it, with the help of Don and Montse.
