The past few months I have been searching for a decent gym in the Sugar Land area and have been very disappointed to say the least. Given that I have discounted membership directly with my health insurance to most participating gyms that usually I do not have to deal with membership and cancellations fees. The key word is USUALLY! I walk into this gym and did not receive a greeting or warm welcome and when I do explain that I was here to use the gym as a PRIME member they were so confused that I was told they did not participate in the program. Well to make the story short, I waited over an hour for them to finally realize that they did indeed participate in the program – while they were arguing with me otherwise. Well I decided to stay and workout to have an overall impression of the fitness equipment, members, and upkeep of facility thus, all in all this will do for the price especially since LifeTime fitness is so EXPENSIVE. In the end, we get what we pay for peeps!

DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!!!
They will tell you it’s $ 10 a month but lie and charge your account what they want and make up lame excuses like we tried processing your payment and it didn’t go thru (my account has never had less than $ 100 for years) or some new comer fee that was never discussed!!!
ALL LIES!!! I cancelled and am still getting charges on my card!!!

The gym is great. The process for cancelling the membership is horrible. In September, my husband passed away and it took me three months to cancel his gym membership and as a result have had to continue to pay for the membership despite that fact. Finally I got someone today who knew how to do this, and I went online and cancelled, and guess what? They have a 30 day cancellation policy. You can bet your A** I’m cancelling my own as well and heading over to 24 Hour Fitness even though it’s a bit further of a drive.

God forbid you need to cancel your membership. My experience was great up until I moved and the locations weren’t going to work for me anymore. Continuously was given the run around on cancelling. Ridiculous for a no contract membership.

Sales people are really pushy and underhanded told the guy I was looking. for a 25 hour gym told me it was come to find out its closed on Friday and Saturday night. They didn’t honor the coupon to that location they sent me in the mail, and the charges for that gym where 195 due for the first month and 9.95 after that

Staff is super rude, my husband cancelled on August 3^rd and they refused to refund us any money. Ok whatever, keep the 10 dollars. Sept 1^st rolls around and another charge. We call back and the rude lady informed that because it takes 30 days to cancel that we are also responsible for Septembers payment. My husband was mad that he wasn’t told this originally and expressed that and the lady hung up on him. I don’t care if the membership was 1.00/month, with rude staff you will never have my business. Don’t do it people, they will just keep charging you for services you aren’t receiving.

$ 10.77 a month? Don’t mind if I do. The gym is fairly smaller than L. A and Lifetime, but it gets the job done. Like every gym it gets packed around rush hour time, so I wouldn’t advice going at that time. Overall clean gym, in the women’s center they’re starting to put new machines. P. s. Sauna is pretty small too

Don’t be fooled by the low monthly rate, because they heap on tons of ridiculous fees that make this gym not worth the price. Scam artists. We got a $ 60 «cleaning fee» bill only two months after starting our membership here.

I returned! Its like a magnet-​that $ 9.95 a month. I cancelled my high priced membership at a different club in Sugar Land and came back to FC.
Things I love: The movie theater gym, the kids area is literally unbelievable and unbeatable (game consoles, toys, movie theater?!!), the HUGE array of equipment, giant changing area, the hours, the people watching (creep life)
Things that are bleh: The modernness of SOME of the equipment like the super outdated stair masters upstairs, the parking lot, the having to pay for the Insanity classes.
But for the price, the value, IMO is phenomenal. If you live in this area, save your paper and go to this gym.

As you can see by my previous review, I’ve been a member of this gym for a LONG time. Initially, I loved it and loved everything about it. My thoughts and feelings toward it have definitely changed.
Something they don’t tell you when you open an account is the fact that there will be a ‘yearly’ fee that goes along with your $ 10/​month. Apparently this happens every July so beware. I never complained because I enjoyed coming to the gym, etc.
What made me not want to come to this gym anymore is the fact that it has gotten SO crowded through the years. I guess it’s because they keep offering promotions (no $ down, just $ 10/​month, etc.) and it has gotten REALLY packed because of it. I think it’s awesome that more people are coming to the gym now, but it kind of sucks when you want to get on a treadmill but can’t because half the people are walking on 2mph and texting on their cell phones with a full face of makeup… lol. Sad but true.
The bathrooms have also gotten gross through the years. I don’t know what it is, but I guess women suddenly don’t know how to flush when they get to the gym. So gross.
In my initial review, I mentioned the fact that from 5−7pm parking was an issue, and that’s still the case. However, you’ll have issues parking ANYWHERE in that complex. Even if you try parking all the day down by the pizza place. It gets so packed that there have been times where I just haven’t gotten parking ANYWHERE.
I ended up terminating my membership. I was nervous about it after reading all the crazy reviews about how people had an issue. If you google it, their site says you need to have a written letter mailed to some P.O. box. I called them to verify, and a wonderful employee directed me to a website that made the cancellation easier. The thing that made me laugh (and also irritated me a bit) is if you were canceling because you were moving, you had to sent them proof. WHAT? How is that their business? They also say that the online cancellation is basically a 30 day notice… which sucks for me since I did it late in June so I’m going to get that annual July charge. Ugh! Wish I knew about it sooner! Now you do, so if you choose to cancel, be smarter than me:)
In summary, this gym isn’t bad, but there are hidden costs and it’s sometimes impossible to find parking/​a machine and in the end, it just wasn’t worth it to me.

Came in at 745 AM and asked if I could use the facilities and the front desk worker informed me that guest could not come in until 8am. I asked if I could at least have a tour or look around but the gentleman instead, after informing me, decided to turn around and leave the conversation at that. Rather than just letting me at least just get a tour or take a look around, I stood awkwardly for five minutes alone in the front waiting until exactly 8 AM and realized how ridiculous I felt. I no longer wanted to come back or even work out there.
Thanks for interesting experience, but normally, if its customers you’re trying to retain, you treat them with kindness and respect. I felt none of that and I think I’d rather just pay more to go to another gym that actually cares about how their guest feel rather than let me stand around for ten minutes staring at the front desk uncomfortably.

Great value! They have everything you’ll find anywhere else and then some. Not many interactions with the staff. When I go, I do my routine and leave, so I can’t really judge their personnel. Actually, when I fist signed up a few years ago, the guy who signed me up was a bit arrogant and demeaning; suffice to say, he no longer works there. Aside from that, I haven’t had any blaring issues with their customer service.
Now to the gym. It’s clean, there’s a lot of machines and a lot of space to move around. They have two racketball courts, a full court basketball court, a bike room, aerobics room/​classes, a movie theater with workout equipment, a kid’s center with multiple video game consoles, toys, a TV and a movie theater, and they also have a separate women’s gym; which is pretty cool for women trying to get away from unwanted attention.
Coming from New York where even the nicer gyms are quaint, this gym is like a cathedral. For $ 10 a month and being open 24h a day, there’s not much I can complain about. No, the service isn’t amazing, but honestly it isn’t bad either. If they’re having their $ 10 a month deal, jump on it! No regrets on my end.

The main reason why I like Fitness Connection: $ 11 per month (with tax and everything). The down payment can start at $ 10, if you sign up at a certain time. They also charge an annual fee around $ 30.
Fitness Connection also offers fitness classes in the morning, as well as cycling classes in the evening. They have a cardio room where they play different movies each day and an upstairs cardio area. There’s a women only work out area, but they don’t really have EVERYTHING you need. Peak times start around 4pm-​9pm. I like to go in the morning, so I usually don’t have to wait for equipment!
Overall, you pretty much get what you pay for, but as a broke college student, this gym is more than enough for me.

the gym is nice and cool. they got enough in the lifting section for the manly men and enough in the leg section to encourage more of those manly men to work on their leg. over all pretty balanced. cycling upstairs along with running and all the other cardios.
they sometimes do the 10 dollar starting fee and 10 dollar a month but then I found out they charge you 40 or 45 dollar annual fee in July and they only do that deal in May… in a way I feel like I got ripped off. but 10 dollar a month. I really can’t complain. for a broke college student home only for summer yep this is my gym to go!

I have never had any consistency with Fitness Connection and their policies on their charges.
I had my membership autodrafted from my credit card, so when I had to change my credit card, I was told I actually have to come in to the store to change the card. This sucks if you’re not in the area near the gym, but they say it’s for security. I’ve had different people say they will take your new credit card over the phone, and I’ve also had different people tell me different amounts of time you have before they charge you a late fee for not paying on time.
So, after this had happened, they charged me a late fee of $ 10, and the next month’s gym membership of $ 10. They charged me the $ 20 TWICE, so I got the bank involved, and I got my money back.
About two months later, after normally being charged $ 10/​mo again, I was called and first told that I owed that $ 20, and then told since I asked for my money back, that my membership was cancelled. Reasoning is that since I «asked for my money back», that they considered it my notice that I didn’t want to be a member. I explained that that couldn’t have made any sense because I was charged double! She didn’t seem to understand.
After many arguments with managers over not having anything in writing, I said GOOD RIDDANCE and am wiping my hands clean with this SCAM of a place.
The gym is nice for $ 10/​mo, but it’s not worth the hassle. Customer service is HORRID! This place is a SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM!!! Buyer beware.

This gym is a bit further than I would like to drive but what it offers compared to the gym on Westheimer is definitely worth the drive. This gym is much more spacious and the equipment is very well taken cared of from what I saw. They also offer classes here as well but they seem to fill up fast so you would want to arrive a bit ahead of time. I definitely enjoyed my first workout here. Parking is not an issue since the gym is in a shopping center styled lot.

I signed up for this place before the facility was built and recently canceled because I just wasn’t using it. Like most, I chose it for the price.
The place is almost always packed and it’s open nearly around the clock all week. There’s a lot of machines and they’re all in fairly good shape. They offer a modest amount of classes.
I can’t knock the place; it’s exactly what they presented it to be: a large, low priced gym. I just came to realize that a gym isn’t where I belong. I need to be outside on a bike going somewhere to stick with my workout. I get bored in a gym and immediately start asking myself how much longer I have to stay on this treadmill before I can leave. That’s not their fault. It just took several years of me paying for a gym membership and only going a handful of times to discover that there is no gym that’s going to make me want to go and I need to find other ways to get fit.
If going to work out is your thing, you’ll probably find something you like here as long as you can handle the musty aroma of sweat that hits you over the head when you enter.
Canceling wasn’t hard. Ask nicely up front and they will give you a website where you can give your 30 day notice. The charges stop after your 30 day notice is up.

GREAT gym. Clean. Big. 2-​stories (workout machines below, cardio machines up top). There’s a basketball court, a few rooms for racketball, and a cinema room with a variety of different cardio machines inside. If you’re interested, there’s a calendar posted up outside of the room with a movie schedule for each day.
There’s also a group-​workout room for classes such as: step/​tone, kickboxing, pilates, yoga, etc. and a separate room for the bicyclists workout.
The restroom/​locker-​room is spacious. There’s a sauna in there, and you have to make sure to bring your own personal lock in order to use the locker.
Oh, and I almost forgot, there’s also a room for women only; so, that’s cool if you were looking for that feature. They have cardio/​workout machines in there, and some dumbbell weights. Also, for those of you with children, there’s a daycare/​play area up front.
What it doesn’t have is a pool and a steam room. But for just $ 10/​month, I don’t mind it at all. I love this gym!

This is a great deal for a gym membership. $ 10/​month, with an annual $ 30 fee (total = $ 150/​year). I was able to sign up during a promotion with only a $ 10 initiation/​enrollment fee.
PROS:
+ One of the most affordable gyms (possibly the most affordable?) in the Sugar Land/​Missouri City area
+ Clean and relatively new facilities & equipment
+ Huge ceiling fans to help keep you cool
+ MOVIE/​THEATER ROOM! with a big movie screen and lots of cardio machines (treadmills, ellipticals…)
+ Even the kids’/daycare area has a movie room — not sure if that’s a pro or con — depends on your point of view on kids and TV time
+ There’s a smaller, women-​only workout room
+ 3 different Zumba teachers. One tends to go high intensity (very popular/​packed room, super duper sweaty), one is medium intensity, and one is low intensity (the least crowded). Something for everyone.
CONS:
— Tends to get crowded — both the machines and the classes — especially the Zumba classes
— No paper towels in the bathrooms. Only available in the workout areas.
— I find the yoga classes to be unsatisfying… I guess because they gear it toward beginners, and I’m used to more of an all-​levels/​intermediate flow/​vinyasa yoga style. I don’t know what to call the yoga style that they teach here.
— No pool (maybe that’s part of why it’s only $ 10/​month)

On my third time here, I did have a chance to meet with a manager, take a tour of the facilities, and given a break down of the programs available to me. I was fortunate that the sales manager I met with who first showed me around did not try to oversell me and seemed to have a connection with most of the people we came in contact with as he showed me around. When I told him that I needed to think about the promotion given ($ 10 initiation fee and 20 $/​mo — estimate), he was alright with that. He then provided me with an option of being a guest for a few days. As every gym I have considered, I was a little disappointed that they could not tell me more about the personal trainer cost. Oh well, that’s part of the game.
Most of the time that I go here, they tend to be packed to at least 80% capacity. Looks like everyone knows a good deal when they see one. I am thinking that if one comes here, they need to make sure they speak with a manager who knows their stuff because that seems to be at the root of the poor reviews I have seen on here. Even I gave them a bad review before revising it… now. Then again, I am not a member yet. I do plan to become a member this week, but I will make sure I ask the sales associate the right questions because I do not want any hidden fees or $ 200 charges mysteriously ending up on my account with a collections agency coming at me.
