Mangrove Mama’s Restaurant

Food was a little over priced for the amount and quality. Husband and son had the lobster Ruben. Lobster was a little rubbery, so it was either over cooked or frozen rather than fresh. The sea food quesadilla was pretty good though. I would recommend that dish.

The food is great and the drinks are good. The best part of my experience, however, was the service. We had great service throughout or time, and the staff went the extra mile trying to find a shirt that would fit my father in law on his birthday. They are the reason I was inspired to create an account and we’ll definitely be coming back!

We were staying in Key West exploring the area when we came across this gem. On Sunday mornings there’s live music and a buffet only until 1pm. Afterwards they have their full menu.
The buffet consisted of eggs benedict, french toast, bacon, scrambled eggs, shrimp, mahi mahi, key lime pie, and more. It’s $ 12.99 for the buffet, which is more than reasonable in the keys.

Wow! Driving into Key West decided to grab some food late. Great choice, had the coconut shrimp with vegetables and yellow rice. Shrimp cooked just right as were the veggies which still had a crunch. The kids had a Stromboli, it was large and again fantastic. Would highly recommend this place to anyone coming this way. Also had the key lime pie, kind of a must have, perfect blend of sweet and tart. The service was on par as well!

Went to breakfast buffet this morning, everything was cooked great with lots of flavor. 12.99 adults 6.99 children

Very nice and convenient stop on the way to Key West! Fantastic breakfast sandwiches, fresh fruit and home fries! Great service! Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but a great atmosphere on the inside… Extensive drink menu for lunch and dinner! Worth the stop!

Breakfast was huge and looked pretty. Good bacon and potatoes. My question is why have a gigantic pancake if you can’t get it done all the way through? I see too many places do this. Yuck.
Mimosa softened the disappointment. Lol.

The fritters here are excellent. The service is fast and friendly. There is always plenty of seating. I will return for sure

Food is forgettable. I had the lobster Reuben, it was pretty tasty but usually unhealthy things are. The onion rings are over breaded. Not a good bang for your buck.

Hmmm, 8 lunch meals of which all were mediocre. Snapper, grouper, chicken all chewy. Fries– cold and tasteless– shame when any resturant can’t provide hot piping fries minimum. Friend recommended for the key lime pie.
. Let’s see how that goes… Key lime pie was flavourful and delicious.

The breakfast was tasty, but the waitstaff seemed to be off their game today. It was pretty bad. No one greeted us when my family came in, they just stared at us for a bit while I stood next to the sign that said «Please wait to be seated.» The staff did not seem happy and interacted with us in a way that made me feel like I was annoying them. It took forever to order coffee, forever to get our coffee, and forevvvvvvver to get a refill. I didn’t bother waiting for a 2^nd refill. I had to go to the counter and stand when no one brought our check and they didn’t come by to check on us. Even if servers where understaffed today, they still could have been friendlier. At a minimum, I’m glad the hash browns, scrambled eggs, and omelet were good.

My family stopped here for breakfast on Easter Sunday on our way to Key West. They had a very overpriced breakfast buffet that the manager (or possibly owner) sold us on by reading the buffet menu and all that is included on it, including the key lime pie desert! Well we got the buffet and the food was sub par. Tasted like Gordan Food Service. We could have cooked better at home. Disappointed with the $ 22.99 each subpar buffet we shrugged and said oh well hopefully this key lime pie makes it worth it. That’s when the manager informs us that the pie was additional and included on the buffet menu as just a suggestion. That is not how he spoke about it nor how the menu reads! Take a look at the photo! I do not recommend coming here unless you want to be ripped off and disappointed with ur meal. Oh and to top it off service was slow and terrible. We had already gotten halfway through our meal before a waitress came over to get our drink order and proceeded to bring us a dirty coffee mug. No Bueno.

I think they could improve a little bit more on customer service. the prices are a little bit too much for me but I will go back there.

Every time we go to the Keys we stop at Mangrove Mama’s. We have been coming here since 1998.
Last time there I had their Fried Conch Sandwich. The server explained that it might be chewy and it was which I knew before I ordered. My wife had their Lobster bites, yummy. My son in law had their coconut shrimp platter and it was huge. Daughter had a big salad with grilled Mahi on it. She loved it.

Great drinks, entrée options and PIE!
Patty at the bar will give you a good history of the place while making a mean margarita. So fresh and with real mix… no syrupy crap.
We had excellent blackened tuna bites, coconut encrusted hogfish, grilled grouper… I’d order them again in a heartbeat. We had the key lime pie to go and I wish we ordered two. They make it in house and know what they’re doing.
A good stop for lunch or dinner!

Wow, our server Gabby is amazing with her hospitality & kindness There menu is endless with all kinds of authentic dishes with there indoor/​outdoor Key dinning as I’m totally comfortable and casual wear. Soft LIVE entertainment to boot!

We were camping next door so it was a visit of convenience. The place was hoppin’ which I thought was a good sign. The bar area looked awesome and full of energetic people. Since there was no room, however, we sat in the restaurant area. Service was just OK and the food was not great. I had the seafood quesadilla and split the key lime pie (meh on both accounts). I definitely wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re in the bar.

Don’t hesitate to stop into this gem either on the way to or out of Key West. Great breakfast staples, cooked to perfection. Key Lime Pie is top notch.

If you go fishing in the Keys, you have to take your catch to Mangrove Mama’s so they can cook it for you. We had a ton of fish cooked and it was $ 15 per person with the group’s choice of 2 sides which were also awesome. They certainly know their fish and prepared everything amazingly. The presentation was terrific. You should definitely try them ESPECIALLY if you catch your own fish! We took them some mackerel (not the smoking kind), grouper, snapper, and porgie. They cooked them all differently according to what they thought was best for that particular fish.
The service was great. The manager was awesome. I had the lobster reuben which was a bit bland, but really large with great tasting fries.

Wir haben bei Mangrove Mama’s eine Pizza und Key Lime Pie zum Mitnehmen bestellt. Für uns sollte es italienische Salami werden. Die Pizza kam erst nach 45 Minuten. Andere Gerichte gingen deutlich schneller aus der Küche raus. In unserer Unterkunft angekommen, haben wir dann die Pizza gegessen. Die Salami war sehr grob geschnitten und nur als Fleischballen zu erkennen. Da gingen unsere Erwartungen auch in eine andere Richtung. Der Key Lime Pie war lecker.
Von mir gibt es Punktabzug für die lange Wartezeit und den nicht identifizierbaren Salamibelag.

It’s a Monday. It’s dead so maybe that’s why the service is fantastic? Conch sandwich, blacken blue Mahi sandwich is awesome. Chicken Parmesan is very good.
Drinks tasty. We will return.
