Bought the ½ chicken with fried bananas and black beans as sides. Chicken was delicious and the fried bananas were done just right and were sweet. Were It not for the fact that it is on the other side of the Beltway, I’d visit this place regularly. Since this is pretty much a carry out place, I was impressed to see that the line to order and pickup stayed pretty constant during the lunchtime period. Patronage is also an indicator of the quality of the food.

So much food for a reasonable price. I love the chicken and shrimp fajita platter so that’s my go-to order. I don’t care for the location but I love the food.

I have this location on speed dial now! Absolutely one of the best carry out/fast food restaurants(and one of the healthiest options) in the area. Every thing is cooked to order except the Peruvian style char-broiled chicken, which is my go to.(Same as El Pollo Rico, Super Chicken, Marcela’s and others) Fave dishes: ¼ chicken + plantains & yuca Carnitas Entomotados + jalapeño Tip: Call ahead; wait time can easily surpass 10 minutes.

Great portions! Fresh salad and the chicken and shrimp fajitas is what I always get. I couldn’t tell you about the carne but I see a lot of hood rats ordering it so I’ll pass hahhah that’s was wrong! I’m used to typical Peruvian sauces(yellow and green) but they add a little something different and it works perfectly! I always ask for more salad because these crazy guys will fill your whole box up with rice if you let them. Starch portions should be the size of your fist not your face! Portion Control Kids… Portion control. I just got the«20% battery remaining» so I’m out kids!!!

It’s good considering that the area has nothing even comparable to offer. I recently moved into an apartment up the street to save for a home and sadly driving to Clarendon for some good peruvian chicken is too painful with traffic. I’m not sure which nationality this place aims for since there is a various menu selections. I hate the location itself. I have no patience for the other ignorant customers. I had a lady that had also been waiting cut me off with her«un-uh me first» attitude when I came back in from my car to check on the status of my order. Regardless, if my order was ready… my order was ready and I hate that I had to re-cut her off to ask the staff a question. I’m sure we ordered two totally different things. Most of the people in that small little space were like that with the same stupid mentality, so I continued to wait in my car. I guess the staff is so used to attitude that they ignore customers that have already been helped. I had genuine questions about other dishes, but brushed it off. I was beyond annoyed and ready for my food. The wait was decent considering they were having a rush hour rush. It was about 530 – 6. The chicken was surprisingly good. Not like my favorite place, but decent. Their«yellow» sauce is a watery combo of something not like any good rotisserie place. I was quite sad to have been teased like that. I ordered a steak fajita as backup up in case I didn’t like the chicken. If you’re going to offer fajitas, you have to offer sour cream, guacamole and fajita veggies, which they do not. So, I never touched it. My boyfriend picked through the meat and said it was OK. This place has so much potential and is missing the opportunity to really stand out. One young guy said that they might start doing empanadas based on my kind interest and suggestion.

I am not going to say anything that you have not already read about the food being good. I got a to go basket for lunch consisting of plantains, beans and rice, and of course their chicken. It was delicious. No compliant at all with service, price, or food. My only complaint and it is more of a warning that around lunch time parking is tight. It is located along with other business right on the corner and I am glad it is near the Suitland Federal Center so I can walk to it during lunch. A definite try if you are in the area.

This place was recommended to me by a good friend. I was skeptical of the place bc I didn’t see too many people inside. This place was a pleasant surprise. I notice that food was made to order and was made from scratch. I order the steak tacos. They were very good. I hope to try the chicken next time.

The food is really good! I usually only get the ¼ chicken, salad and yucca. The sauces are good but they charge extra for a couple more. All I can say is go try it and gather your own opinion…

*3.5 Stars* Sylvester’s has been a neighborhood favorite for quite some time. The location on Saint Barnabus Road stays congested much like the little shopping center that it resides in. Their menu is extensive. I’ve had several items such as the pollo a la brasa, fajita de pollo con camarones, tacos de pescado, and quesadillas. Everything was good. You can convert your meal into a platter where you choose rice and black beans or rice and salad for $ 2.95, which is a great value when you consider the amount of food, taste, and overall cost. During peak hours, I place my order at least 20 minutes in advance, they provide the order number, but it’s never ready when I arrive for pick up. The workers are nice enough, but I don’t think they’ve developed an effective system for managing the demand during the peak times. The restaurant is really small, some choose to eat inside while everyone else is forming lines to place orders and pick up. Confusing! I’m planning to try their pupusas to compare to my Salvadorian spots. Check Sylvester’s out if you’re in the area, but again, place your order in advance or you may wait 30 minutes. +Tip: They play good music while you wait

Really tasty choice for lunch. The Peruvian chicken is one of the best I’ve had, and, considering how low the prices are, the steak in the quesadillas is surprisingly well-cooked. Portions are also generous!

I was in the neighborhood after picking my car up down the street and popped into this place for lunch based on other Unilocal reviews. The chicken was tasty, the yuca and beans were good, and the dipping sauces were a great touch. Very friendly place.

This restaurant deserves all four stars! Here are a few things I learned and love about this spot. A. The chicken is good. B. price is good. C. This location unlike the other has tables to eat-in. D. You the liable to see the rainbow here, this place draws in people of all colors, sizes and occupations. E. On not days thanks to the business to the right I here you can often times get a free concert by boombox. lol F. This is the most important one… THERUMHONEYBUNCAKE. It’s off the chain. It’s moist, rum packaged and just the right amount of sweetness. I understand it’s also locally home-made. I will be back and sometimes just for this item… Because it’s that darn good.

This is a good alternative to the Silver Hill Road(Suitland) location. It’s a smaller establishment, but there’s never a line — and there’s plenty of risk-free parking available. You really can’t go wrong with this place. The chicken dishes are flavored to the bone. Literally. The Rotisserie Chicken Supper Sub is my go-to meal. Add fries and a drink, and you’ve got a good cheap meal with a(slight) chance for leftovers. Lately, the Tilapia Filet(fish tacos) have been my order. I’ve had the Chicken Fajita(Fajita de Pollo) once or twice and that’s pretty good, too. The Pollo Entero(Whole Chicken) is a sure-fire favorite for large crowds — with or without a side dish. If you’re invited to a pot luck, bring this. **Caution: Do NOT park in the Dentist’s office parking lot. They WILL tow your car… quick!
