First, I want to start off by saying that I have used this location at least 2 times. Obviously bad experiences outweigh the good or decent. I am always skeptical of using Uhaul trucks because it is crap shoot if you will get a 20 year old truck or a newer one. I personally prefer Penske but their locations are not as plentiful as Uhaul. So I rolled the dice on this one and I lost. The truck was sooooo old. It had a tape deck so I am going to guess 15 – 20 years old. I wanted to run but it was crunch time(EOM) with no room for error. I cautiously accepted the truck with a prayer to just make it from point A to B and back again. And I eventually did… It took a good 2 minutes just to get up to 30 mph. The air vents were tapes down with bright green tape… The vehicle would not start after the truck was loaded. I had to call roadside rescue. Wait an hour for them and another 45 minutes to look the truck over and pay my movers for an additional 2 hours. Now that I am driving the vehicle in the dark, I realize that the left turning signal does not work because the headlights are on??? How unsafe is that to be turning left in this big truck and no one know which way you are going? Oh and the headlights were so dim they might as well have been off. So no accident and I go to put gas in the truck and use the fuel estimator they give you, put the required amount in and the needle doesn’t move… I get nervous that there is yet another problem and decide to add more gas to cover myself. Add more gas and it is still in the same spot(insert the blinking emoticon). I get my receipts from the cashier for proof and I’m off. Minutes later the needle finally creeps up. Sighs. At this point I am upset and exhausted but relieved that this day is ending. I call Uhaul this morning and speak to Manny who offers excuses and a monotone apology adding that in order for Uhaul to keep their prices low they have to keep vehicles for a long time because if they had to constantly keep buying new vehicles they would have to raise their prices. Obviously at the expense of the customer and their experience. You would think that a TRUCKRENTALCOMPANYWOULDKNOWTHATBUYINGNEWTRUCKSARE A COSTOFDOINGBUSINESS. But what would I know. I expected satisfaction and I did not get it. I think even a sincere apology as opposed to a rehearsed standard one would have helped. Uhaul is dead to me.
