We went as a group. Mixed reviews from everyone in the party. The blackened chicken ceased salad was not very good. The chicken was rubbery. However, the oyster po’ boy was very good. The most amazing thing was their«dirty balls». So many puns to go with this, but trust me their dirty balls won’t disappoint and are absolutely worth trying.

This place has a good atmosphere and attentive wait staff. Once you find that thing on the menu that you love, you’ll crave it. For me it’s the grilled wedge salad. It’s a must! It has a smoky flavor with nice grill marks and unbeatable blue cheese and bacon on top. The place is typically clean, has a full bar, and outdoor seating. If you don’t like cigarette smoke, you probably shouldn’t sit outside. Among the things I’ve tried(besides the salad) include the dirty balls, shrimp creole, shrimp grits, and fish tacos. Of those the best was the fish tacos but I recommend ordering them without cheese. Overall, a great place to go if you enjoy the down town atmosphere.

I’ve eaten here many times. Great food and usually good service. The service sucked today! I shouldn’t have to eat my meal with nothing to drink and I shouldn’t have to walk up to my server with my debit card(who was sitting at the bar with her face in her phone) when I’m already late getting back to work. There were 4 other people in the restaurant. No excuses, and no tip.

So excited we found Bayou Jacks! And can’t wait to come back. Loved the Natchitoches meat pies. If I can’t make it there, I know where to come get them now. Service was great. Everyone was very happy with their food. Be back very soon!!!

At first I feared for the worst, our waiter was preoccupied with a cute girl who was also dining and we waited a long time for our drinks. He also forgot we ordered appetizers, never got the famed Dirty Balls. Once our food got to us all was redeemed. Great flavor. Food was as close to the real thing you can get in Texas. The pecan pie with bourbon sauce is to die for and it was given to us on the house for the appetizer oversight. We will definitely be back.

Nice swanky place, we are out of Townes so we used Unilocal to find it and was delighted with the location. We loved the food it was very tasty and our service was good. We even bought a t-shirt. I had shrimp meat pies one was covered in red sauce and one was covered in some kind of strange cheese sauce that was delicious. and my husband had a trio which was red beans and rice that were just okay and seafood gumbo which was very good and crawfish étouffée which was also very good. I’d go back if it didn’t take three hours to get there but maybe next time to Texas.

I have heard great things about this restaurant and finally made it, even though it is only around 25 miles from my house(BTW in Texas, that’s not far). I was very happy to see that they had boiled crawfish, which is probably my favorite food of all time. Now for those who don’t know, I am born and raised coonass from New Iberia, Louisiana, so I know my cajun food. So when I try a new place I like to test them with the coonass standards. Things like gumbo, red beans and rice, shrimp poboy, and of course, when in season, boiled crawfish. I tried all that except the red beans and rice(I can only eat so much in one sitting). The crawfish came out first and they were excellent. We had two options to choose from, regular or «Voodoo». I wasn’t sure if «Voodoo» was like going to transport me to another dimension or posses my body, but I assumed that meant spicy, so that’s what I went with. They were indeed spicy. I used to love my crawfish so spicy that it made my lips turn purple, my forehead sweat, and my nose run. Nowadays I tend to go for a more complex flavor and less spice. This was a little of both. I want to go back and try the non-Voodoo, and hopefully it has the same seasoning without all the heat. But I still loved them. It’s nice to have that burning sensation once in a while. But unlike many other places that just give you the heat, Bayou Jacks had a really good flavor. The other thing to look for in good crawfish boils is juicy heads to suck and meat the pulls out of the tail with ease. They have it down. I was impressed. Next came out the Poboy and gumbo. The Poboy was well balanced with a good amount of shrimp, lettuce, tomato and remoulade sauce, on a nice piece of french bread that was soft in the middle and crispy on the outside, just like it’s supposed to be. My mouth was a little numb from the seasoning of the crawfish, so I may not have the best judgement of seasoning, but I felt like it could have been a little more seasoned. But add a little salt or hotsauce or whatever you like, and you should be happy. Really, that’s probably the way it should be, in order to keep everyone happy. I paid the upcharge to have gumbo instead of fries and it was a cup of shrimp, chicken, sausage and okra gumbo. Again, this is the real deal. Real cajun gumbo, not the creole stuff you get in New Orleans. Nice dark roux, smoked cajun sausage, rice. I am not a fan of okra in my gumbo, but it’s supposed to be there, so deal with it, like I did. Everything was so good that I had to try the dessert. And if you are a truly great cajun restaurant, you have to serve a good bread pudding. They do, but unfortunately, they didn’t have the whiskey sauce ready yet. I tried it anyway, and just like everything else, it was great. Moist, lots of flavor, not soggy. The fried that I was with had an oyster poboy with fries, and pecan pie. He said everything he had was great too. They are located on the downtown square in Sulphur Springs which is a very nice part of town. Plenty of parking all around the square. The inside of the restaurant is very clean with lots of authentic looking Louisiana décor, and good cajun music softly playing in the background. The staff was very friendly. I highly recommend this place and plan on going very often, especially during crawfish season.

Service was super attentive the entire time we were there. They were very efficient and My husband had the Creole Monica, a new creation debuting that very day. He loved it and I got to taste it as well — amazing sauce and flavor. I went for the jambalaya and it was just hot enough to be interesting, but not to be painful… just the way I like it. We started with hush-puppies as an appetizer with some dipping sauce — very good. The décor was Cajun and cute and I loved the Zydeco music playing in the background made the experience complete. Then, of course, there is the fun of using the public glass toilets just across the street to cap off a novel experience.

We were looking forward to sampling some Cajun food only to be disappointed when we learned that their food deliverer had strayed and took their supplies to another location so that they were out of most popular menu items. No catfish. No hush puppies. No cornbread. No this. No that. Only two ‘dirty balls’ left but they were very good. I ended up with shrimp creole and I must say that it was very good. We also enjoyed our bread pudding. What we had was good which shows promise for other menu items. However, it is clear that a lot of the cooking must be done elsewhere(how hard is it to whip up a batch of hush puppies?)

Solid 3.5 stars. Couldn’t give them 3 stars on the posting. They are better than that. I have eaten here 3 times in the past 5 weeks while in town. Food is pretty darn good. I like blackend seafod most and they will cook it how you want it whether it is on the menu or not. Really like their blackened redfish and shrimp. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Bayou Jacks will not knock your socks off but you will be happy you came here.

Visiting family in local area, met here for lunch, we had the Dirty Balls, Shrimp and Grits and fried Shrimp basket, the high point of the meal was the Rahr beers, everything else appeared to be OUTOF A BOX. The service was okay, that about says it all.

Traveling through Sulphur Springs with the family and stopped here last night for dinner. Hannah, our server, was very nice and helpful. The food was great! I had the catfish and crab special with grilled veggies. Catfish was fresh, local caught. My kids had the grilled shrimp and kids fried catfish. My husband had a shrimp and catfish dish. They have an outside seating area which faces the town square. We sat inside where the football game played on flat screens tvs.
