Up until about four years ago, my wife and I would eat here regularly, and it was pretty good. So, being in the area, I thought I’d try it again. Big mistake. $ 18.95 for the buffet. Fried shrimp was greasy and cold. Catfish greasy and cold. Frog legs the same. Chicken gumbo was decent. Waitress was very nice. The waitress and the gumbo earned the second star. Otherwise it’s a low one and a waste of money. Maybe ordering off the menu would be better but I’ll never know. I won’t be back. It reminded me of a very high priced, after hours, truck stop buffet.

Looking for a decent Cajun diner near the Louisiana-Texas border? Hollier’s is a good choice! A local favorite a little away from I-10, Hollier is a home-style diner that serves not only seafood that is commonly associated with the Cajun cuisine but also other goods as well. In addition to the normal menu service, Hollier has a small buffet service that varies everyday of the week. I went on a Thursday lunch and the star of the day was pork chop; I wasn’t interested so I went for the menu service. Both the buffet and most of the menu items are about the same price of about $ 10 so you may get a better deal if the current buffet is to your preference and you have a big appetite. My choice of the fried gulf shrimp entrée includes the access of the salad bar buffet, which is pretty nice and ironically even has small shrimps as salad add-ons. Although the fried shrimp were a bit smaller than I had hoped, they tasted pretty decent — Definitely a solid Cajun fried seafood plate! It wasn’t the best but hey, it’s Cajun fried seafood so I don’t think you can get that much better. Anyway, the price is reasonable and the service is a great example of southern hospitality. The restaurant also has a small counter store if you want to pick up some meat or whatever. The bottom line is that Hollier is a good meal stop for your I-10 road trip! — tl;dr version: 1) Decent Cajun diner for meal stop 2) Buffet and menu services offered simultaneously

I would say its ok at best. Fair priced bland normal food. Its what you generally find in these types of restaurants. Big meat Wednesday is what they are know for which is bar b que style meats. They really need to remove a table or two its tight inside. Not much to pick from on the buffet. Still its ok for a lunch.

Give this place a miss. It’s a local dive with a low-rent buffet and unappetizing food. I had the fried oysters, and there was lots of breading and almost no oyster.

My family and I dined here while visiting for the Little League World Series for a late lunch. My son loved the corn dogs. The oyster dinner was great and came with a choice of potatoes, hush puppies, and a trip to the salad bar. My husband enjoyed his shrimp dinner as well. The seafood gumbo was excellent!!! I just placed a to-go order for more oysters and gumbo for dinner. We will certainly be back here.

This restaurant has some delicious seafood! The buffet is what we had for about $ 18 a person. Everything really tasty, just not much selection. Service was prompt and friendly. Definitely some older Cajun hospitality here;) Be aware that when using your apple maps that it does lead u to the correct place, the road is a diff name.

What a disappointment. Stopped there on our way to Lake Charles and had the $ 22.95 crawfish buffet. Mistake. Hardly anything on the buffet except the boiled crawfish which is really what we wanted. After our first bite we knew we were in the wrong place. Absolutely no taste. They must have run out of seasoning and salt. Thank goodness they had tartar, cocktail and other dipping sauces to give some taste. I mean major bland When we were getting ready to leave they put some fried shrimp and catfish out. That’s where the salt went. They ran out of deserts and when I asked about them they said they weren’t putting anymore out. I thought the price of the buffer included desert. Price of buffet and drinks for two $ 55.00. Never again.

Yuck! «Brisket» tastes like it came out of a plastic grocery store tub. Buffet was mediocre.

Hollier’s is one of the best restaurants in the area. The seafood buffet on Friday and Saturday evenings is wonderful and well worth the price. At this time of year, it’s hard to choose between the boiled crawfish and the buffet. The seafood gumbo is excellent, but the serving is huge! Fortunately they have a small version. The dining room is not fancy, but the service is excellent and the food authentically Cajun. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but the pistoleros are especially good.

Driving between Baton Rouge and Houston? Stop here! Thank goodness the ubiquity of wretched eateries along 1 – 10 has been broken. Hollier’s is not fancy by any means. But the staff is friendly and the food just darned good. The buffet on the evening I stopped in was irresistible, featuring fried catfish, shrimp creole, red beans and rice with sausage, and fried chicken. I didn’t have the chicken, but everything else was spot on. I especially commend the catfish fillets, which were plump and cooked to perfection. The salad bar is nothing to brag on. But, to their credit, they have one! The coleslaw is recommended as a side item with the catfish. Good price for the meal. Hollier’s clientele includes the operators of the nearby industrial plants along with their families(lots of children!) and I-10 passersby. The restaurant’s casual environment, food offerings, and prices are tailor made to satisfy.

I agree that the salad bar is not huge, but this is a meat market and they have the basics. The 8 – 10 items on the buffet line are the best 8 – 10 things I’ve put in my mouth, since my Memaw passed. This food reminds me of her awesome cooking. I LOVEYOU Hollier’s Thank you ‚ Ben

If you eat at a buffet you kinda get what you deserve. I unfortunately do this from time to time to remind myself of that I guess. The buffet wasn’t that great at all but the meat market looked great! If I were staying here for a while I can guarantee it would be the death of me and my wallet!

Smallest buffet I’ve ever seen. There were maybe 8 to 10 hot items. Nothing to brag about. The salad bar was skimpy. Although I did like their jalapeño ranch dressing. That was the best thing about the place. I didn’t find it anywhere worth the $ 16 price.

Love this little place. Love love love their boudain. Mr. Hollier is a great man and the staff there are really nice and welcoming. I will recommend this place to others.

Stopped here late, just before they were closing. They were very courteous about letting us in at the last minute, and we didn’t feel rushed. They made sure we didn’t need anything from the buffet as they got ready to clean it up. The décor is super casual and comfortable. We shared the seafood platter, which included frog legs, shrimp, catfish, oysters, a crab cake and fries or a baked potato… I may be forgetting an item or two. We also had a cup of gumbo. It was PLENTY of food for the two of us. The gumbo was especially good, and we really liked the crab cake, sweet and satisfying. All the fried items were not overly greasy. They offer a number of sauces for dipping, like cocktail, tartar sauce and another house-made mix. They also have meat processing here.(Deer and such.)
