As I write this I’ve reviewed 67VA wineries, done several updated reviews, but this is the first place I’ve given two consecutive 5-star ratings. That’s how much I love this place. Dog friendly & family friendly. Lots of locals were constantly dropping by, and all seemed to be on a first-name basis with the staff. Rogers Ford has a ‘make yourself at home’ vibe to it, AND it makes great wine. My favorite continues to be the Petit Verdot, which has an incredible nose and is my favorite Petit in all Virginia. This time around I learned the previous wine maker(OK — the owner’s dad) was the first Virginia grower to make a 100% Petit Verdot back in 2002, after he realized it grew well enough here that he didn’t need to blend it with anything. I found two new wines since my last time, and had a new vintage of the port-style. The new white wine is a Vidal Blanc which was fairly sweet, and seemed to be a hit with a lot of customers. The new red was a 2014 Cab Sav. I found the Sav surprisingly peppery; it was newly bottled so some time would help it, but it was already drinkable. The Chardonnay was still good — all steel, no malolactic fermentation. The Rose was too sweet for me, but I still enjoy the Sherry-style Brandy Station Dulce a lot. The Sangiovese is gone!(Cue tears). The ‘most improved’ was the 2014 «Snake Castle» port-style(also made with Petit Verdot). I liked this MUCH better than the 2012 vintage; in fact, it could eventually displace the Petit Verdot as my favorite.

Wine was good, but service was just okay. There was a wine festival going on when we visited, so the top servers were probably at the festival. It showed when we came in. Pours were really short, and the woman couldn’t really answer some of our questions. There were a lot of errors on the wine list(like 50% of the descriptions she verbally corrected), which made it hard to follow. I wouldn’t make a special trip to go back.

A lovely quiet spot that has plenty of space, is dog friendly, and the wine was enjoyable, too! Go when the weather is nice and you can sit on the side patio or front porch with a picnic you have brought and a lovely glass of wine. If the weather is not so nice, the adjacent room to where they do the tasting is also quite pleasant(not sure if they would allow a dog inside there or not, though). Tastings are $ 8 with a complimentary wine glass. Bottles are moderately priced.

This is a wonderful, quaint and friendly winery! The wine was delicious and we enjoyed it on the little deck overlooking the vineyard while muching on the cheese plate. We purchased several bottles and are still saving the last few for a special occassion. If you get the chance to find this hidden gem, stop in!

Penny is the best PR agent! The moment I saw her I was in love. Much appreciated, too, was the owner — very patient and helpful. I wish I could partake in the tasting, but I was driving. I hope to return — lovely area, and lovely people(and priceless Daxie!).

Rogers Ford shows exactly why good wines, wonderful people, and a great story makes a winery… NOT dramatic architecture and event rooms. So many delicious wines including an amazing bubbly and a cinnamon-y Chardonnay. Do not pass up the Chloe wine chocolates… they are fantastic!

My husband and I visited the winery on a beautiful, sunny Saturday afternoon. Based on user reviews we expected it to be quiet and empty, but there were a bunch of visitors to the winery(which we took as a good sign). We enjoyed our tasting and hope to go back again soon to see the river and have a picnic with some of their delicious wine. I must admit, the two free tastings for mentioning Unilocal was definitely a factor for us going there, and now that we’ve gone we will certainly be going back. Don’t forget to ask about their dog Penny — she is highlighted in the book that features winery dogs. She came out to visit us and she was such a doll! The owners are thoughtful and take the time to go through the wines with you. Reasonably priced and a very nice location!

SO adorable here! We went because we saw the Unilocal recommendation and free tasting and couldn’t resist. The owner was delightful and knowledgeable and willing to explain anything we needed. We got a desert wine and it was superb. There was also a delcious Rose. Reasonably priced, very cute, a farm feel.

This is a farm winery gem. When what turned out to be the owner drove up on a tractor we weren’t sure what to expect — a good lesson in not judging a book by it’s cover! Don’t expect a crowd(we had the place almost to ourselves for most of the experience), and leave any budding wine snobbery at home as the tasting room is pretty much an old farm house that more than a few families probably outgrew over the last 50−70(?) years; but, rest assured that what’s being crafted here is agro-evidence that skillful wine making is happening. This isn’t an apple and berry bottler making wine coolers out of unsold fruit from the farmer’s market. The owner’s knowledge was expansive, he was personable and friendly & at the same time down to earth and a real gentleman. We both thought all of the wines were quite good… some of the reds even excellent. Looking forward to our next visit!

A wonderful little winery tucked away near a nature preserve in Sumerduck, VA(between Culpeper and Warrenton). Their wines are excellent. Their tasting room is tiny and there are only a few tables outside, but this place rarely gets busy – this is not Barboursville or Horton. And I suspect that’s the way the owners like it. There is a lot of land to «stretch out» here. I always buy a bottle of their chard here and they have a terrific Petit Verdot that comes in an unusual bottle. The Rappahannock runs near the property.
