Captain Markus was awesome and offered a true local view of the backside via kayak. We saw a shark, lion fish, lots of tropical fish, jellyfish and birds. We were beginners and were fine by the end of a 3 hour tour. Our tour was so much fun that we rented kayaks a few days later too!

Cpt. Markus is awsome! My two sisters and I booked a three hour tour with Capt Markus and absolutely loved it! His knowledge of the Keys, both the nature and the hotspots, was unmatched by anyone else we came across on our trip. Our three hour tour ended up being a six hour tour because we were all having so much fun! We saw sharks, live sponges and coral, and birds galore! We went through mangrove tunnels, visited an island for a picnic lunch, it was fantastic, cannot wait to go back for more! The best part was Cpt Markus was taking pictures of us the entire trip and now we have a recors of all the great things we saw and did. I highly recommend Florida Keys Kayaks to anyone who loves to be out on the water!

What an awesome experience! Captain Markus is so great — he is incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining! We went out for a kayak eco tour and thoroughly enjoyed learning about the ecosystems and various species of wildlife. He went out his way on a few occasions to «stir up» different sharks and rays to get them to swim past us. I cannot believe how much wildlife we saw! We had so much fun and look forward to coming back again in a couple of months!

Captain Markus is awesome! He went out if his way to make our trip perfect and the price was competitive. Dropped us off to avoid the windy day. Will definitely visit again!

Captain Markus is the Dude! Great guy! He really has a passion for this place and it shows with his honest enthusiasm. What we liked the most was all the little things he showed us on the kayak trip. You’ll have to go if you want to see what I am talking about. One thing I’ll give away is that he takes you through a mangrove island where you can hang out and watch some real nature. You can tell he really knows his stuff when he is analyzing tides, currents, and wind conditions in order to make your trip the best it can be. Vicki runs the counter there and you will not find a sweeter lady in all the keys! She is equally enthusiastic about the area and will sit and chat with you for hours!

We all know that the great outdoors here in Florida is limited. Most land is occupied. So when we were able to find Captain Markus and his little business down in the Keys we were very excited. $ 70 for the first day of a canoe rental, $ 35 for each additional day and a map. The experience was great, ourselves, a canoe and of course our dog. Captain Markus explained everything to us in a wonderful laid back Keys manner. He reminded me of The Dude in the Keys. He is a huge local eco-enthusiast and wants the traveler to experience the Keys to their maximum potential. So we didn’t get to see sharks and rays feeding at night in the shallows but we were graced by a pod of dolphins playing beside us in our canoe. They returned the next day while we were in the water, so screw the sharks, I was 10 feet from 2 dolphins! We launched off of Blimp Road in Cudjoe Key, around Mile Marker 25. We paddled 1 hour west to Tarpon Belly Key. It’s a favorite local island that allows boats to anchor and locals to spend the day drinkin in the sun. We were told that there may be or may not be a space for us to set up a tent. That’s the risk but we scored a site, behind a small grove of pines. Tent, hammock, fire and sunset. The bugs were scarce as there was a great breeze. We spent the day reading and sleeping in the breeze of the pines. There was an attempt to paddle to another island but the wind was strong and the dog was extremely unwilling. If Captain Markus isn’t up your alley, there are other guides: you can also check out Captain Bill but I don’t know his number. Captain Markus is more than happy to supply you with his digits though. The Captain is well informed of all the local wild life and wants you to enjoy and appreciate it as much as possible. I highly recommend Captain Markus, he’s down to earth and will help your little adventure be memorable!
