I so wanted to love this place… I have been looking forward to coming here and trying the amazing coffee and atmosphere I have heard so much about since moving here, but… well I hope it was just an off day because honestly, I don’t know if I am willing to try it again after this visit. The shop wasn’t busy on a Saturday afternoon so one would think a warm welcome wouldn’t be too much to ask, apparently it was as the woman at the counter had her head hung down and was so concentrated on whatever she found so much more important then a new customer that she would not even barely give me eye contact. She was frazzled, rude and not welcoming. My husband told her this was our first time coming to CCR and she literally was unconcerned. We asked a question about the menu and she very rudely said«Give me a minute. just give me a minute without even looking up! So, we found a table, grabbed a few menus and watched for a minute at which time we witnessed this same woman be very rude to another person approaching the counter… we decided to leave. How sad… and not sure I am willing to go back… i am all about local business, but i am even more aware of what customer service should be and this ain’t it!

After recently moving from New Hampshire I had to find a good little coffee shop in town. This is it! The selection is great. There are many specialty blends available as well as traditional drinks. The food(what I’ve had) is also quite good. While I have not been there after noon, I’ve noticed that they also serve beer which I assume makes for a very good after work meeting place. The atmosphere is not what I would consider«southern». The people weren’t as warm and inviting as some other places I’ve been. I can definitely see how this could turn some local residents off. This didn’t deter me however and may have even added to the charm, making it feel more hipsteresque.

Just don’t get there when they’re rushing everyone out to host the local Republican Party meeting.

I LOVETHISPLACE!!! This is what a coffee house should be like. They have lots of local activities here and they have music from Thursday till Saturday. Thursday is open mic & Friday & Saturday is a live band. I highly recommend seeing the band BUSKER, they play monthly at Coastal Coffee Roasters

I’m new to Summerville. I searched for a great place to get coffee and just chill. This is great place to do this. The moment I walked in the door I felt welcome. The one who took my order was very knowledgeable about the products and allowed me to taste test a drink since I had never been. I will definitely go back!

I went to CCR for the first time yesterday. The staff was very friendly and professional. I’m still new to good coffee(i.e. not a cup from the gas station), and recently began buying beans to grind myself and brew. The guy that helped me out was very willing to explain to me the different types of coffee CCR had available, and to explain their process to me. The prices are also nice. I had a cup of the Ethiopian this morning, and it was fantastic.

So I was excited to come here since we’re new to the area and I’m always down to try a new coffee shop. I went in and it was very quiet– no big deal first thing in the morning. The Lady that rang me up must have been new which is fine– that’s how you learn. But the thing is I had a 10% off coupon and when she asked another employee how to apply it the guy acted annoyed about it which I thought was rude. On top of the unfriendliness of this guy the chai tea was nasty … I wish I had a better experience here as I was so stoked to try a new coffee place near our home. Maybe if there’s a next time the service will be friendlier and good luck to that poor new lady at the register.

I come from the land of coffee, okay, I’m a coffee snob. Any bad grounds can be overcome by amazing customer service. This place struggles. Seems more interested in having a conversation between employees than investing in the human connection with customers. Saturday evening, so mabye there’s some customer service fatigue… I get it. Competitive advantage in this business is the people connection. I’m hopeful all employees buy into the owner’s vision. Great potential… amazing potential, but it still takes work to get there.

I honestly want to give these guys 5 stars, I really do because they are great people and they have a very nice little setup there. I do love that they have beer and you can go and sit down or grab craft beer late night. However, coffee is another story. For one, their sexy seven blend they use for espresso is WAY too dark. These guys are modeling their beans after Starbucks instead of some good roasters like Intelligencia or Counter Culture. I bought the beans and they just smell burnt when you grind them, I couldn’t even pick up the flavor of the beans. I haven’t tried their single origin coffees but I was not impressed at all with that blend. Hopefully they take my advice and roast a medium espresso blend. Also baristas there do seem to lack some training. Again, if I’m not drinking coffee, I wouldn’t mind sitting there and having a beer listening to live music.

This place is the real deal! The owners, Brad and Jacki are very passionate about, and committed to what they do. They truly support the notion of shop local, featuring local art, bands, bakers and more. I love the homemade kumbucha and the coffee is roasted right on premises so you are sure to enjoy the freshest coffee possible! This place is constantly evolving — so if you haven’t checked them out in a while — you should. In the evenings you will find local talent performing(Thursday– Saturday), and you can enjoy a great selection of beer and wine. Be sure to talk to Brad about what’s coming — because there is always something going on!

I didn’t get a chance to go to the actual coffee shop, but I did get to buy some off their beans at the Mt. Pleasant Farmers Market. The girl working was super friendly, and I was tempted to get a pourover right then and there. But my new hobby is doing it myself. Unfortunately, I had just bought a full pound of expensive beans elsewhere. The girl was nice enough to sell me $ 2 worth of coffee to make a few pourovers. I’ve made 3 so far and have loved it. If you are looking for some good beans, check out their«Sexy» blend. So good!

We stopped here to get iced coffee to sit out in the park and relax. I got the iced latte, my daughter the iced chai and son-in law iced coffee. The place itself is open and nice but seems to have very few seats. The coffee shops I frequent at home are cozier and have more seating like sofas, coffee tables etc. I think something along that line would be nice here with a southern touch. The coffee itself is good and strong and the chai was tasty and had a strong spice flavor. The counter help was very pleasant and accommodating. My reason for 3 stars is based on what appears to be a pretty limited menu offering of coffee choices. The coffee was very good but more varieties would be great that+ a homey setting inside.

This place is a gem. Great coffee, great owner, and a fantastic place to get together for events. They are not your typical barista-caffeine-fueled coffeehouse that makes frappes for the youngster/cutsie coffee types. Think more of a warehouse that roasts, with a new(now open), rustic/modern café attached. If you want coffee, and I mean the stuff that is made from the roasting, grinding, and brewing of a fruit-like plant, go here. They specialize in roasting coffee beans! Originally, I believe they started out as just a roaster with some brewed coffee to buy on the side, and have now expanded to what they are today. CCR does have espresso based drinks on the menu here, and will gladly make you one, but by all means, don’t come here on the basis of trying to get a venti whatever with 8 lbs of foam on top. The staff here love good coffee, and will be glad to talk to you about the types and how they roast. If this was a 4-star before, it should be a 5-star with the new café.

Went in to enjoy a mocha with my husband mocha was simply regular coffee with chocolate syrup in it. Not good at all. There were cupcakes in the display case, looked amazing. Bought one for my daughter, it was good but not for the price of it. Since it is a coffee roaster, I suppose I will give it one more try just for regular coffee but I am not impressed so far.

Went back for the second time, because I wanted to give them a fair chance. It’s a local business, so I’m all about helping them out… if they are good. It was a lot less busy this time, great atmosphere, lots of cool stuff around the shop to look at. We both ordered mochas and got a cupcake for our 3 yr old daughter. The cupcake was a bit expensive, $ 3 for a smaller sized one, but she loved it, and I grabbed a bite. It was pretty good. Had a nice creamy frosting on top, the cake itself was dense. The mocha was another story. I only critique it so much, because I was a barista at a tiny coffee house for a few years, went through several weeks of training for it, so I’d like to think I have at least a general idea of what a specialty drink should be. Basically, the mocha was the house coffee, with Hershey’s syrup, and frothed milk. No use of the espresso machine, with the exception of frothing the milk. Even then, the bubbles of the froth were too big and airy, not dense and tight, like I was taught and see at small coffee houses everywhere I go. The taste was kind of bland until I got you the bottom, then you could taste the chocolate. I love the concept of this place and the potential of it is exponential. What I’m getting when I go, is nothing that will bring me back. Others may have better experiences and may enjoy it, for which I say, to each their own. Keep going if you like it.

I LOVE this place. Every time that I have been there, there has been live music. Couches, artistic tables, friendly employees, delicious coffee. It’s great coffee by itself, no need for tons of syrups, etc. The owner is awesome and gave us a fantastic tour. On Saturdays, they have a farmers market. Pretty great. Check it out.

My husband and happened to stumble upon this little coffee shop one rainy Friday night and decided to stop by for some coffee. It was 7pm and a musician was just setting up to being playing. Live music, coffee, wine, beer, baked goods, and sandwiches. What more could you ask for? The best part is that they are all local. Their coffee is amazing as well! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good cup of coffee and a relaxed and down to earth atmosphere. We are already planning our next visit on there open mic night.

Finally got a chance to try this place! Such a cozy atmosphere– this is yet another local gem in Summerville. Of course one would come here for coffee, but a pleasant surprise when we checked out the menu was that they serve beer! Husband and I will definitely going back sometime for a beer. We also enjoyed the soundtrack — good music choices. Also, an added bonus is that they sell King of Pops popsicles. This is definitely a place you will end up spending time in versus the Starbucks where you get your coffee and get the heck out of dodge.

This place cares about coffee and community. You can grab a cup of freshly roasted coffee, locally prepared cakes and cookies, and sit comfortably in a shop full of locally created treasures. It’s quirky and full of character, about as far removed from the typical corporate coffee culture as you can get. Drop by, but don’t be in a hurry. You’ll want to spend some time.

I have visited family in Summerville for years and love its nice downtown. It has great local shops and few neat pubs, but it was always missing something! Now this fantastic local roaster. Great coffee. They now also have a good selection of about seven local drafts. Each time I go it gives me the feel of Asheville NC. Fantastic place. Just go.
