My partner and I were very excited to go to this restaurant since it’s very close to home. From the outside, it does not look big but the inside was very nice and big. As we walked in, this young man took our last name down and seemed confused. He directed is to our seat but then ran off and came back and apologized he said it would be a few minutes. He then found us a table, and we were seated. We then were greeted by our waitress. She took down our drinks. We were looking through the menu and everything looked delicious. Because there were so many options, I wanted to look through it thoroughly before making my decision. Another waiter came around and he was very unprofessional. I asked what the soup of the day was and he said he would go and taste it to let me know if it would be good. I disregarded and decided to to try the chicken salad sandwich and my partner wanted fried shrimp. As we waited for our food I noticed another waiter also being unprofessional. I didn’t really care much as I was most excited to try the food. Turn around time was very fast. Our food arrived, I was happy about the portion size. As I took a bite the chicken salad was too dry and flavor less. I assume it was old or was sitting out for too long. My partners fried shrimp were too small, looked like Captain Ds. It is unfortunate. It is a beautiful restaurant. They need to hire better waiters and need to shorten their menu and provide quality food. It was very disappointing and extremely overpriced.

Not impressed. When we arrived we were told by the host to have a seat while he «figured out» where to put us. It was steady but didn’t seem like a rush. We were brought to a small table and asked for a booth. He was very nice about it and we were asked to sit up front until the table could be bussed. Our soon-to-be waiter ended up bussing the table we were sat at. No biggie. It happens. There were several tables that still needed to be cleaned off and no one taking care of it. As we walked to our table the space was tight. Not bad but only one person could walk at a time. A waitress stepped in front of us as we were walking and blocked us from going to our table so she could start taking a 4 person order. There was no other way around her. We attempted to excuse ourselves and move around her but it was too tight. She shot us a nasty look and stepped to the side for the 3 seconds we took to walk past. We sat down and asked for water while we looked over the menu. Our waiter was very nice. He got us our waters and took our order. The front case was lined with champagne glasses so I figured there would be a drink menu. There wasn’t one at the table or on the menu. Kind of a bummer. When he came back I ordered a standard mimosa and we each got a latte. The bad part was the food. It took almost 30 minutes to be brought out and the woman who brought it was scattered and rude. I had ordered grilled chicken which came with grits. I asked to pay extra for a side of shrimp to put on the grits. When she brought it she told me my hash browns(?) were cold so she put them back in. I asked her about my grits and shrimp and she said«You can’t have that.» Umm… Yes I can. I ordered it and was told I could. And my meal came with grits. Not hash browns. My husband then mentioned that neither of our meals came with hash browns as far as we knew. When she brought my grits the shrimp were buried under them. Not expected but it wasn’t a huge deal. She seemed very annoyed. The chicken was really small — smaller than my palm and ¼ thick. I also didn’t know it was going to be a sandwich. But the food tasted good. No complaints there. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Our meal was: A breakfast sandwich and a bagel A chicken breast sandwich with a half cup of grits. A side of shrimp A mimosa 2 lattes and a cup of coffee. Our bill was over $ 40. WAY overpriced and not worth what we were actually served. And, while our waiter was nice, the rest of the time I felt like we were bothering them.

Meh. Over-priced. Took forever to get served, cold food. «Tropical fruit parfait» consisted of a tiny amount of yogurt with frozen blueberries and 2 strawberries with granola that had raisins in it. Not impressed.

Alright so this is my second visit to the toast location in Summerville and it has improved drastically. The second we walked in we were greeted by an extremely friendly host Shavon. Once seated our server Chance immediately told us about the specials of which I ordered from. I then went on to order the sweet tea glazed fried chicken which was absolutely phenomenal. Extremely tender and flavorful. The portions are also quite large. Toast on this second time around was amazing. Honesty the only thing holding back five stars is my first visit. I will definitely be back and pray for the same hospitality.

I love the 5.99 daily lunch specials. My favorite is the Thursday Meatloaf. This place goes has a warm atmosphere, very friendly wait staff and they always go above and beyond to welcome and go out of their way for me and my Service dog. They always even without asking bring her a dog bowl of water. They are just so amazing. I love a service dog friendly place. They also have outdoor seating which I believe to be dog friendly for nonsensical dogs. I mean I’m not 100% positive but I’m pretty certain since they have dog bowls readily available.

I’ve actually been here a few times but most of the time it’s a disappointment. I once had the unfortunate experience with the chicken salad. Yeah how do you fu** up chicken salad. But the homemade chips were good when they were not a giant lumf of soggyness.

It took a little while for this place to really get off the ground. But now that it has it is one of my favorite places in Sville to go to for brunch. I have yet to have a bad brunch meal there. The omelets, french toast, steak and eggs, cornbeef hash and eggs, surf and turf breakfast. There are way too many to count! But if I have to narrow it down — and its hard to do — try the surf and turf breakfast or the french toast. The shrimp and meat with eggs and a homemade biscuit, is too much to finish in one sitting but you will be trying to force yourself to because it is just sooo delicious! The mimosa carafe for $ 14 is a great deal as well. I have not had lunch there, but I have had dinner. And the fried chicken and the meatloaf dinner plates are a definite go to. She crab soup, the salmon when it is on the specials menu, all very delicious. All the staff there are friendly and nice, accomidating to almost any request. And if they cant, they definitely do their best to find an alternative solution. I really enjoy the bar area for a nice happy hour app and drink, they have weekly specials on both. There are about 4 – 6 tables outside, which is nice on a sunny day, although the view is of the parking lot, but all in all, its still nice to have the option if you want to be outside. If you are in Summerville, I highly recommend trying it out.

I ordered the shrimp and grits around 5pm, after the waitress took my breakfast menu and replaced it with a dinner menu. To my dismay, my grits were clearly from the brunch earlier in the afternoon. The cornbread was welcomed, but undercooked and old and I was disappointed with the sauce of my dish as well as the grits. Finally, our table had two holes which were not filled by staff with wood putty, but simply with bits of other patrons’ meals. I’ll not be back of my own accord.

Great breakfast find in Summerville. The food was great, particularly the biscuits, home fries, and chicken. The staff was overly nice and very efficient. Would definitely become a regular hangout if we lived around the area.

In the Summerville area for work & was looking for a good breakfast spot before I hit the road. Was not disappointed with Toast! I got the Eggs Meeting Street, which is a delicious eggs Benedict with a southern twist. It was a poached egg on top of a crab cake, on top of a fried green tomato & topped with a tasty hollandaise. The biscuit was huge & probably one of the best I’ve ever had. The potatoes were good too. I would definitely recommend this place for the food & the friendly service.

This was my first visit at Toast, my friend raved about how good the food was. I had the friend fried tomatoes and crab cakes. I had an issue with the cut of my crab cakes and the manager Hanna came and took care of it. All of the servers that we interacted with was a pleasure. The food was great and the atmosphere matched, I will definitely be back when I’m in town again. You won’t be disappointed.

Made reservations in advance for a party of six for valentines. Arrived on time. Our table was not ready and other people were sitting at it. The hostess said they would be leaving in 15 min. We decided to wait. 15 min later they were still eating. They wanted to split our party up on opposite sides of the restaurant, which defeated the purpose of our night out/reservation. A reservation is made, when you want to make sure a table will be waiting on you upon arrival. We left and dined at Taste Asian Bistro and the service was much better. We will not go back. Very poor service.

Went to Toast yesterday with my sister. It was a mistake from the start. Empty tables but a wait… seated, black particles in my water. Ordered fried green tomatoes and a half Caesar salad, it was fine heavy on the dressing. My sister ordered a burger medium with fried onions and French fries as a side. Burger comes with ice cold fries and no onions on the burger that was cooked well NOT medium. Waitress was very sweet brought more fries and the onions. New fries tasted cooked in over used oil and the worst part… A long curly black hair was in the fries! We pointed this out, a manger did not even come to the table and they took $ 5 off the bill. This is no way to get return customers or to treat a customer who is paying $ 9 for hairy burger not cooked to liking. I feel terrible for the wait staff as it seemed mostly to be a kitchen issue. Having waited tables myself I always feel for the messenger. I would not eat there again.

EGGSMEETINGSTREET: the best Stone ground grits, homemade biscuit, poached egg on a delicious mini crab cake, fried green tomato and topped with a low country remoulade sauce. Oh! And the service was very nice too.

The meeting st eggs were delicious. The home fries came out cold and weren’t that good. The French toast wasn’t anything special.

This is more of a record of last night’s experience for the management and staff of Toast… We stopped by Toast last night(11÷10÷15) to get some dessert. There was no one there(literally, only staff), but they had a case full of desserts. We asked the waiter what was better out of a few options, but he told us he had only been there a few days and had not tried them all. So, we picked a slice of coconut cake and turtle cheesecake. About 2 minutes after the waiter went to the back to put them in to go containers, we changed our mind and wanted a slice of chocolate cake. I poked my head back to tell the waiter and saw the coconut cake in a box and a plate with about ¾″ of the cake still on the plate. He wasn’t enthusiastic about switching our order, but he did it anyway. He brought out our cakes and we paid…$ 13, which would have been high even if the cakes didn’t taste like they were 5 days old. On the way home, I told my wife about what I saw and I called and talked to the manager and told her about the experience. She didn’t seem overly concerned and asked for my name and offered 2 free desserts. I waited tables in college… here’s where I call BS on Toast. The possibilities are(in order of most likely): 1) The waiter WAS new, as he mentioned, and Toast teaches the staff to trim down the cakes.(They are HUGE slices in the display, but tiny when you get them) 2) The waiter was new, Toast doesn’t teach the staff to trim down the cakes, and he was just brave enough and wanted some cake to himself. 3) The waiter wasn’t new and just lied about it. Who knows… Even if the manager(Hannah) did write down my name and phone number for a free dessert, we would rather a refund. I don’t know that we would return for $ 6 slices of cake anyway. It wouldn’t surprise me if they had all just finished up a slice of our cake right before I called. To management of Toast: If it were up to me, and I had such an aggressive campaign urging patrons to write reviews on Unilocal and TripAdvisor, I would put more emphasis on product quality and customer service. Quality of reviews is better than quantity of reviews. As for now and the forseeable future, we are done with Toast.

Toast is the place to be if you wake up feeling like you are hungry and want to be happy. After my first visit it quickly got cycled into my favorite breakfast spots that I frequent. There are flavor combinations and options that are bound to make almost anyone happy. The Eggs Meeting Street and the Lowcountry Eye Opener are must haves if you like to dabble in a little seafood with breakfast. One features poached eggs in fried green tomatoes and crab cakes, and the other is like a delicious breakfast gumbo with grits, shrimp, crawfish, and a tasty spice blend. The home fries are cooked and seasoned just right, and the biscuits are big and fluffy. If you prefer the sweeter side there is deluxe French toast which features different fruits stuffed inside depending on the special at the time. It is an incredibly filling guilty pleasure breakfast item. There are always plenty of mimosas flowing and even MANmosas which consist of Schofferhoffer grapefruit beer and orange juice if you need some alcohol to wash your yummy breakfast down with. While this a great place to be for breakfast the same can’t be said for dinner. I broke the routine of breakfast visits and tempted fate with a dinner visit. I got fish which was way overpriced and under seasoned. I paid an upcharge to get grilled asparagus as my side, and I received four of the skinniest pieces of asparagus I had ever seen. My wife’s order was just as bland and unexciting. We left paying way more than we felt we should have and disappointed in one of our favorite places. Sadly I cannot recommend Toast for all meals of the day, but I can whole-heartedly recommend it for the most important one.

I had the Eggs Meeting Street. The eggs were drowning in «remoulade» sauce. I felt like I had a mouth full of mayonnaise. Aside from the sauce, the eggs paired well with the crab and tomato, the home fries looked as if they were cooked in day old oil and the biscuit, although not as flaky as you’d expect from a good ol’ southern biscuit, was good nonetheless. The service is hit or miss depending on who you interact with. The hostess must have left her smile at home that day while our waitress was very friendly. Final Thoughts: «Meh» would be the most appropriate word to describe the food.

Pretty delicious with extensive brunch menu that makes it very hard to choose. All dishes prepared with fresh ingredients. The biscuits are big, fluffy and delicious. I know my biscuits too so… go for it. I had a play off a Benedict that was a small fried green tomato, topped with a fried breaded crab cake, topped with poached egg, topped with remoulade. A little spice… the breading on fried stuff was sweet and crispy. Well done. My only negative was that the double fried bottom layers made it hard to experience the crab and tomato. Good though. Grits are perfectly prepared and creamy. I’d go back because there were about 12 things I wanted.

I ordered a deluxe French toast and an order of eggs meeting street. I was very disappointed with the French toast. It came to me burned. Why would a business serve someone burned food is beyond me. The toast was so burned that I didn’t even recognize what it was when it came out. I was starving and I can’t believe I even took a bite out of it. The eggs meeting street was not burned. However, I did not like the flavor of the sauce. Tasted like a bunch of mayonnaise was splattered on it. Disappointing. On the bright side, the waitress took excellent care of me. I wanted a vanilla latte and they were out. So she made me a white chocolate caramel latte herself and it tasted great. If it weren’t for her, I would have left extremely disappointed.
