I have found Dr. Kapsimalis and his staff to be fantastic. Dr. Kapsimalis is knowledgeable and my dentists have commented that his work is excellent. The office staff was also very easy to work with and I was truly appreciative of the fact that I did not recieve any surprises when it came to insurance coverage and cost. While I have had to have 2 root canals done and hope to never have another, I would not think twice about going back to Dr. K.

My first visit should have been a sign not to return(same as past review office not being very responsive) but since he was referred by my dentist and my husband I thought I would save myself the trouble of finding someone new. I went for a consultation but he was all set to do the root canal and when I said not today he looked surprised. So he charged me for a 10 minute chat. This is probably a suitable experience for men who don’t expect much. But for a more sensitive women who is looking for a warm and friendly atmosphere and someone who is going to take time and answer her questions, look elsewhere. So Big mistake for me! I went in today for a root canal, Dr. Kapsimalis was the same as before not really offering detailed information about the procedure. Thankfully I had done my own research on root canals and kinda knew what to expect but you never know for sure until you have one done. I wish I had read Unilocal!I brought my husband with me because I thought I would be completely out for the treatment but no such luck he just numbed the side he was working on which allowed me to witness the barbaric acts to follow meaning if you want your patient to relax then put them to sleep or give them an eye mask so that they don’t have to witness the drills and tools being used and feel the pounding in the mouth. Why do dentists ask repeatedly, Are you ok? When you have a clamp, dental dam, and a suction tube hanging out the side of your mouth pinching your lip and you can’t answer in any other way then just a grunt. Instead why not address the fact I know you are uncomfortable so what can I do to adjust it. I was not in any pain just unsettled with the situation and that I allowed myself to be back at this office which I felt didn’t care anything about me as tears continuously rolled down into my ears, just my payment. He took an X-ray after the treatment but never offered to show it me or discuss it he just said looks fine… ok I thought, I guess I have to take your word for that since I can’t see it here I will ask my dentist to show me. He says I left your care instructions at the front but could not take a minute to say the three lines of instructions to me. I strongly dislike the attitude of the front desk person who pretty much threw my receipt at me with a half smile and asks are you ok, no I answered and again no response from her either, whom looks like she is miserable with herself and her job. Dr. K is probably a nice person outside of the office but it definitely seems like he is in the perils of a dentistry rut.

Dr. Kapsimalis wasn’t very responsive at my last visit for a root canal. For example, after my dentist suggested that I «may» need a root canal, I went to see Dr. Kapsimalis(an endodontist) and I asked him whether I did, in fact, need one. He said, well your dentist told you that you did. I said, Well, not exactly… my dentist told me that I «may» need one. He never answered the question whether I needed a root canal or why and proceeded to numb me and perform it anyway. I also asked him what kind of medication or anesthesia he would be administering since I had to drive myself home that day. He told me that he’s tell me that AFTER I had the procedure. For me, that was kind of something to discuss up front since it was related to safety. Lastly, I asked him if the fact that my existing cap had fallen off caused a need for the root canal or else would the tooth have needed one in any event. He asked, What do YOU think? I thought, Huh? These are just 3 examples off the top of my head as to how unresponsive I found this doctor to my questions. I would not recommend him to others.

I visited Dr. Kapsilmalis only once — for a root canal — a procedure I hope to never experience again. The office was clean and his equipment was modern; he clearly explained everything he was doing and took great care to ensure I was comfortable. When my local dentist saw my x-rays afterward, he said it was the best root canal he’s ever seen.(Seriously!) If you need a root canal, go here.
