About 20 years ago, a chimney service informed us that our chimney was in fairly bad shape and that an expensive rebuild was the best option. We decided to pass on that advice and installed a gas fireplace with the idea that that would minimize the chance of a chimney fire. We checked into a number of places and decided that MPG offered a reputable service at a competitive price. They arrived yesterday morning during intermittent rain storms, and estimated the cost of the repair using the latest, guaranteed double-walled stainless steel material. They specified a very nice, very durable copper chimney cap for the top as it goes well with our home’s color. They estimated it would take about 2 – 3 hours, which is exactly what it took. They even upgraded the piping to our gas water heater at no extra charge. Furthermore, they cleaned up every bit of cinder block dust and detritus generated by the installation. Not that it matters much in the basement, but it actually looks better than it did before! Mike & Larry worked up quite a sweat and watching Larry work on a slippery roof with the skill of the Wallendas was quite amazing. In short, if you need your chimney serviced, you can’t do any better in central NJ than these guys. We’re very pleased.
