The Taco Guy

Today, I finally experienced the much talked about Taco Guy in Summit. Thanks to Jose «Chuy» Hernandez, I was introduced to this garage cooking taqueria. We arrived at 10 AM, and to my surprise, it was standing room only. The two tables located inside the garage were occupied. The carne asada is cooked on an outside grill and is kept warm along with the carne al pastor on a stove top grill inside the garage. Most of the customers are regulars with the occasional visitor, as I was today. The tacos of your choosing are generously filled on warm double corn tortillas. Menudo is another popular item on their menu. This eatery offers all the condiments generally found at Mexican restaurants. The soft drinks (Coke and Pepsi products) and beer (Modelo and Corona) can be found in the refrigerator and cooler. The manner in which you pay is on an «honor system.» Delicious food at a reasonable price. Location: 7212 West 59^th Street in Summit (garage and back yard).
