Rating is for the latte I had this morning. Excellent. This is a modern, very nice restaurant which currently only operates as a Espresso stand in the morning, essentially to serve the commuters and travelers that use the Sounder commuter rail at Sumner Station. The restaurant is right on the edge of the bus ramp and train loading and unloading track #2. So, the coffee was excellent. The hours are morning only, so what is shown on this site is not correct — I think the owner opens from 5 – 9 am only. The restaurant is actually FORSALE right now by the owner and not operating as a restaurant. Drop in for coffee and say hi to Kristi, the owner/operator.

7am and my ride dropped me off at the train station early so I could finally get a morning coffee at the Midtown. I’m in a dress so I was looking forward to the hot brew warming me up. Doors are locked, place is pitch black dark. My ride has already left. Their hours show 5am. Did someone decide to sleep in and not open the doors or is the website’s hours wrong?

I grab my morning coffee here before I commute to Seattle via the train. I also often stop here on the way home to chat with the staff and have a relaxing glad of wine before I head home. the appetizers are really good and there is often a special like taco Tuesday. there are several big screen TVs and a couch for relaxing.

I will never go here again! Worst customer service. The short blonde lady not sure if she is the owner was so rude! She looked at us like we were bothering her for coming into her empty restaurant. We asked for happy hour menu and specials since the signs all over Sumner were advertised for GREATHAPPYHOUR. They had basically nothing… Like 1 $ off drinks and bacon wrapped prawns that tasted microwaved. The lady completely ignored us then gave us attitude when we wanted to order. Then these older folks came in and she was singing a different tune to them and was telling them about some spaghetti special and was so gracious and kind to them. I couldn’t believe she didn’t tell us the spaghetti special that night or anything. She treated us like we were drunk teenagers at dennys. Really disappointing and they have signs all over Sumner trying to get people in with staff like that I cant imagine they will make it. I wont be coming back and I will be sure to warn others.

We stopped by because we go by on the train all the time and decided to come visit. Glad we did! Excellent food, good coffee and a tasty happy hour gin & tonic — yay! Good service, too. We’ll be back

I like to support my local small businesses but I have to pass on this one in the future. The first time I tried to eat here I went in at about 2:30 defiantly not a rush hour. The place was pretty empty. I ordered a sandwich to go. I asked for no mayo and explained that I was allergic to eggs. When I took my order out to my car I opened it up just to check and it indeed had mayo on it. I went back in and explained my order was wrong. Not only was the girl not friendly she just blamed the back end staff. I again tried to eat here while on a walk last week… the girl working was less than friendly. No smile or even eye contact. I ordered ½ a salad not even meat on it and a bottled water. My order came 19 minutes later. They were not busy. I overheard the staff person tell another customer that came in after me that she could not tell him how long his order would take because they were short staffed with only her and one other person. Within the next 5 minutes 3 other staff members came in and were behind the bar. This customers order took so long he finally asked for it to go and the staff member seemed annoyed. I will not be going back. Its a bummer because there is not a ton of places in Sumner. P. S No hello when you walk in and no goodbye when you walk out. Both ways the staff member was right there!

I think this place was just remodeled and might be under new management. Anyways, we stopped in here for a late lunch the other day with some friends. The employees were very friendly, but seemed a little disorganized. They had a sign out with specials on it, and the server said they were fabulous, but then the cook came out and said the specials were not available for another few hours. The food all came out separately, like each dish 5 minutes apart, so we all started and finished eating at different times. It tasted great though, so that was a plus! I would give it another try if we were in the area.

The Bleu Cheeseburger was excellent as well as the loaded baked potatoe soup! Jennifer, our server, was outstanding.

Weekend breakfast is pretty good here, and obviously a much different atmosphere than when the other reviewers were here. Omelets are done well(even egg-white and egg-beater ones), with the veggies sauteed nicely, hashbrowns are good about half the time(the other half of the time they’re dry), toast is good when it’s toasted(they have a tendency to just bring out warm bread, which isn’t «toast» by definition). Coffee’s good too — one of the few restaurants that doesn’t serve Folgers/Hills Brothers-type coffee. Wait staff is pretty good(I think it’s Kristin that served us quite a few times), but kind of «relaxed», so you might have to wait a bit to get your check, etc.

My hubby and I have been here a few times for the great happy hour. Most of the appetizers are half off and all the beer and wine is. i think. We really like their breaded prawns and the artichoke dip is good too. They have decent burgers and sandwiches. It’s average food. Nothing fancy you get what you pay for.

I like to support my local businesses, but I really dislike this place. The morning cashier is such a grump, I only come here on my way to the train when I’m desperate for a coffee in the morning, and that isn’t very often! In this case, I’ll happily hand over the extra dollar or two it costs to get a friendly, polite face at Starbucks, heck even McDonalds would offer a more pleasant experience than Midtown Station!

This is the email I sent them while I was stuck in there because I wanted a real cup rather than paper: I’m not coming back here again. Soap operas blasting on the TV in the middle of the day, and I bet you wonder why no one is in here. I wish I’d realized what was on TV while I was ordering. I would have walked right back out. It’s a shame too, because that couch looked really inviting, and the latte wasn’t half bad either.(I’m basing this on comparison with other local shops. It’s actually just an average latte. –Ed) By they way. When someone asks for a(insert drink here) for here, that means they don’t want paper. Except I wish I had gotten a to go cup, because then I wouldn’t have been stuck here with the soaps. I’m actually in here right now. Maybe you see me. I’m the only other person here, so it won’t be hard. I’m sorry if you missed me though, because I wont be coming back.
