Soft grassland for parking. Wear good walking shoes and check out all the external non-racing events here. I’ve been to quite a few and Angell Parkway has a great outside venue set up.

Dear Angell Park, even when I don’t know who’s behind the wheel any more it’s still pretty cool to see those guys drive the hell out of that clay track. Old school fun. Thanks for the nostalgia! You’re still cool. Xoxo Stephanie

I hope that a sinkhole opens under this nuisance. The lack of noise barriers and the racing of unregulated unmuffled cars makes this audible for miles around on Sundays in the summer. If this was in any other city it would have been closed long ago for noise and pollution inside city limits. Hopefully the new assistant living community right next door will complain enough that it gets shut down.

I haven’t seen any of the races here, but I took my son to the Fireman’s Park on the grounds of the Speedway. The playground is any kid’s playground fantasy come true. The ground looks like it is made of tanbark, but turns out to be recycled tires, making minor spills nothing to the kids. The park is split into two playgrounds: one for little kids with swings, a sandbox, and steps just the right size for kids around the age of 1 — 3. Then there’s a bigger playground for the older kids. A tire swing, huge slides, and a outdoor musical instruments were the highlights for my little guy. The only problem I had was that some of the kids had an attitude toward me or my son… but then again, that isn’t the playground’s fault, but the parents.
