I really wanted to LOVE this place because it seems Christian based, however the employees are not very Christian like. One in particular, who seems to be the manager or lead… is NOT friendly whatsoever. I was kind anyway, and still she was short and cold. Maybe she’s having a bad day, but she seemed fine with other people. It is very organized and there is a lot to choose from! Im not sure if Id frequent this place, but it was a nice change of thrift shops.

Dirty, but has some hidden treasures. In a very sketchy area, but at least they have their own lot in the back. Found some cool things here the 2 times I’ve visited.

Came here once before and I enjoyed it. They had some good deals and lots of furniture in the back. This place is probably best for furniture and items rather than clothes, but I’ll have to make a stop back here again sometime! Located on Sunland.

I’ve been here before but this is from the San Fernando Blvd trip, this is stop #4, the final one! I entered the store, didn’t find anything up front, so I walked around and found this bag of toys, and saw this awesome donald toy inside, but if I wanted it I’d have to buy the whole bag which was 3 $ and they only take card on purchases over 10 $ and I had absolutely no cash on me, except like 85 cents in my pocket. I kept looking around and found nothing. BUTTHEN! I found a fairly oddparent waste basket-basketball net! It was so cool! But they wanted 3 bucks for it, which was seriously not worth it, it was more of a 1 $ item. I continued to look around. Found cranium again, moldy ass clay again. Kept looking and I found a pocahontas cup for 69 cents, best fairly priced thing I found in the store. I told myself I was totally walking out with this, looked around and found the vinyl section, all really really bad vinyls, just barbara streisand and beethoven. I kept on going though, I knew I was gonna find a hidden treasure in here somewhere and I found a record/cd/tape player for 20 $ I checked it out and the audio cables were cut, the needle was missing, the cover was unhinged and broken. Not worth 20 $ more of a 5 – 10 $ type of product. I gave it one more go, I looked through the shirts and nothing, alot of duplicates, like alot of duplicate shirts, it really irritated me to see the same shirt over and over again, I was so dissapointed, I left with my pocahontas cup and that’s the end of it. I’ll probably give this place another chance, but not as of right now

GETTINGTHERE The store is located on the south east corner of the intersection of San Fernando Rd. and Sunland Blvd.(aka Vineland Ave. the street actually changes from Vineland to Sunland at this intersection). There is a fairly large parking lot behind the store, which is enclosed by an impressive fence. Do not let the secure appearance of the lot fool you — LOCK your car and don’t leave anything valuable in plain sight. BUSINESSMODEL Charity. The store is operated as a fundraising component of the homeless outreach center, to which it is directly attached. That direct proximity to the location at which the beneficiaries of your donations are helped, in my mind sets this store above almost all of the rest because you can see those whom you are helping. Like the Salvation Army, these guys give basic necessities to those that are in desperate need… things like food and showers. Do yourself a favor and shop here often. Remember, No good deed, no matter how small, is ever wasted. STOREPOLICIES Like most other thrift stores — all sales are final. They accept cash and cards may be used for purchases over $ 10. Almost all items are tagged and prices are non-negotiable, but generally fair. MERCHANDISE/MERCHANDISING Clothing items dominate the floor in all three rooms. Upon entering you will find yourself in room #1 which has the men’s and children’s clothes racks, along with a decent selection of books along the wall to your right. The back and left wall are dedicated to toys, plush toys(stuffed animals) are in abundance here with prices ranging from $ 1 — $ 20(70% are under $ 5!). The second room has women’s clothes and shoes, I have found a perfect condition London Fog trench coat here for $ 7 and a pair of Doc Martins for $ 10. The third room is the most intriguing as it has an assortment of electronics, furniture and pajamas. It is definitely a worthwhile stop if you are in the area!

One of the few thrift stores in the area that are actually very thrifty! You can really find some deals here. A good organization too. I suggest visiting their new Granada Hills location, too(info on Hope of the Valley’s website) it has a great variety and i’ve found quite a bit of cozy sweaters on my last trip.

The thrift store is doing great at its location. It is organized well and like all thrift store will have that hidden gem you are looking for. If you are there to donate the entrance in the back is where you drop off donations. The volunteers are really about helping and not just there to be there. They work and are invested in what’s going on with upkeep, donations and still have the customer service. Wednesday has the 25% off from opening till about 2 I believe. The prices are real low anyway. If you have any clothes toys or furniture please consider donation instead of selling or trashing it when you replace them. Some people could really use what you don’t need.

UPDATEJUNE2014: THISSTOREISASSOCIATEDWITH A CHARITYTHATPROVIDES A SMALLSHELTERFORTHEHOMELESS, A SHOWERTRUCKFORTHEHOMELESS, and MANYMEALS and their warehouse has burned down effecting all these services and the thrift store. THEYNEEDDONATIONSTOREBUILD. This is a relatively new Thrift Store with a charity behind it, a charity that aims to provide shelter, food, and clothing, to the local Sun Valley homeless, which is a good thing. Its the Hope of the Valley Mission — a Christian Mission. They have been feeding people for some time and have a small overnight shelter operating within the thrift store building. They have a small amount of furniture and electronics — but no delivery. They have a huge kids clothing and toys area — very well priced. There is, I should say of course, no dressing rooms. The prices are very good overall, and the e-bay resellers crowd isn’t lurking. They have Wednesday morning as Senior discount day. Stop in when you’re in Sun Valley!
