Sundial Powder Coatings

I have used Sundial now for a few years, and I have to say that if you have ever dealt with powder coaters direct… you will know that you have found a real gem in Los Angeles…
Their quality and pricing were both great and fair, the service and options is what really puts them over the top. I highly recommend them for any refurbishing, or new products.

Just to make a point of how good the staff at Sundial are, I drive from Long Beach, CA all the way to Sun Valley, CA every time I need to have a part or parts powder coated. Not only are they efficient with their work, they have an artistic point of view when hearing out their customers along with keeping a straight forward and logical frame of thought per the requirements and possibilities when professionally powder coating a specific material. Overall I enjoy working with them and do not mind the commute whatsoever solely based on how they treat their customers.

I would not choose to work with this company ever again. Their pricing system seems completely random and I have had the same item priced at Sundial three times over a two month period and was given three completely different prices ranging from $ 400 — $ 1,200. One time when I explained they already coated the exact item a month earlier for $ 400 they then lowered their $ 1,200 quote to $ 600. Aside from the random and high pricing issue the work quality is all over the place. Ranging from good to completing unusable. They obviously do not inspect their work which is often extremely flawed or even the wrong color. They will offer to redo their defective quality work but this takes too much more of my time, requires me to travel back and forth and the items will never be the same quality as if the job was done correctly the first time. Also if the job is time sensitive forget it. Aside from the random and high pricing, the unreliable and often poor quality work, the waste of time needing to redo coating, they are incredibly rude and primitive. Laura is especially crude, primitive and nasty. Avoid her. The owner of Sundial is Naseem Khan who is unfriendly and unhelpful. Only Marcos there is nice, intelligent and always helpful. AVOID THIS PLACE as Los Angeles has so many better cheaper and more reliable powder coaters with much more friendly helpful staff and ownership.

I’ve used Sundial for a few basic jobs now. They’re not bad for really easy items like 1-​piece wheels. I always felt like they were testing me when it came to pricing.
They used to have a pricing system on their website which was pretty reasonable. In person however, the pricing spikes dramatically. Every in-​person quote was incredibly overpriced and unreasonable.
I always get quoted a ridiculously high price to powdercoat my parts, until I threaten to leave. Then all of a sudden, the price drops significantly. This always made me feel like my parts were going to get sub-​par treatment — kinda like when you send food back at a restaurant. You’re almost certain the server is going to spit in your food.
So far, the results haven’t been bad on the wheels that I have brought them. My last job was a complete hack job! I brought in a box of small aluminum parts and what I got back was a complete disaster.
When I dropped the parts off, the owner and I went over which holes would need to be masked off for threaded and press-​fit hardware. None of those critical holes were masked and other sections that I wanted covered, were «masked» by shoving wads of newspaper inside. They didn’t even bother taking the paper out after. When I took the paper out later, the surrounding powdercoat just peeled right off with it!
I’ve heard since from multiple sources, that they have stopped using this place for similar reasons.

I spent a day, starting in Valencia and heading South along the 5 fwy, looking for a powdercoating place to finish some lighting fixtures. I must have gone to 12 places. These guys did the job for the best price in the least amount of time. And they did a great job! Can’t reccomend them more highly.
