Was out wandering around Southern Delaware county and lucked into this beautiful park only opened in 2002 and a new experience for this long time central buckeye. Part of Delaware county Preservation Parks and great place to visit no matter what age. Two easy 0.4 mile trails take you thru some very distinct features of the Hogback Ridge area. The small wildlife museum and the indoor(heated) bird/wildlife watching area, stocked with plenty of information and field glasses. From their guide:“This beautiful wooded park includes trails that wind through a ravine system with hardwood trees and planted pines, and a ravine crossing bridge that takes visitors close to the stream bed. White tail deer, wild turkeys and many other species of birds — including pileated woodpeckers — make their home in the park.“ 8 a.m. — Sunset, 365 days a year Leashed dogs are allowed in these trails, but you must clean up after them. Mutt-Mitts are available to assist in the clean-up. It’s great to see with the amount of growth in Delaware county, green spaces such as this are being saved before they are lost to developments. Kudos to Preservation Parks for the ambitious works done here and other parks in the works. Overall this would make a great place to visit on your own or with a family or group. Nice trails with very nice new facilities. During my trip I not only saw the Ospreys nesting on Alum Creek at Hogback Cliffs but also two pairs of pileated woodpeckers too, Spring flora and fauna abounded.
