This place is crap. I know someone who used to work with the owner and they buy expired and the cheapest ingredients and food they can find, and resell it for more. I know many people who have gotten poisoning from this place including myself. If you want to save urself from a night of painful stomach ache dont buy ANY cooked food here and always read expiration dates on labels to make certain its not expired, and return everything that is. That is the only way they will learn!

First time visiting this market/deli. Lots of Russian patrons around so it seems like a locals place. lots of Russian groceries but i am here to sample the hot food section. roughly twenty hot food items and twenty cold food items(various salads, smoked fish, pickled veg, stuffed grape leaves)…everything was 6.99/# or 5.99/# after 8 p. m…tried some beef and pepper stew over some cracked wheat and very fresh halibut with a lemony dill mushroom sauce(not sure if that was what i was supposed to do as sauces are separate from the mains but it seemed natural). Also had some potato dumplings with butter and caramelized onions and sour cream, lamb dumplings, and pickled mushrooms. All were very tasty and fresh. they also had 2 or 3 soups to choose from. they also have an assortment of pastries that you can purchase by weight. Counter help was friendly. A positive first foray into Russian food for this Unilocaler.

This is was my first time coming to a Russian market!!! First thing I noticed was the amazing smell upon walking in it was a mix of savory and hearty scents mixed with a sugary deli bakery smell… It was a quite bizarre and unique smell that somehow worked together in perfect harmony of aromas LOL I pretty much just walked around and saw that they had they had amazing rows full of jams soups dry food such as pastas huge rows of chips and crackers and a massive wall of chocolates and candy imported from Russia… In the middle of the store they had what was similar to a take by weight deli I didn’t notice anything in there that I had seen before lol it was bizarre! I couldn’t even put my head together to decide what could be in some of those dishes and the labels were written in Russian. Although I could’ve asked to simply find out as maybe there would’ve been something I wanted to try however none of them seemed appetizing to me. The was a hot section as well as the cold section and I stared into for a while lol In the back of the store there was the meat section and on the opposite side was the bakery. I did get some pastries although I don’t recall what they were called. They were covered in sugar and they reminded me of Mexican pastries when I ate them which I was expecting a sugar donut but it was more of a dinner roll over in sugar. Lol my friend hated them I found them so so. I also bought a Russian soda which was an interesting mix between cola and club soda. Yum! I also bought some loose gunpowder green tea. Lastly, I found it pretty amazing that all of the employees were wearing traditional Russian clothes. It was a really cool experience and I’m glad to I ventured in!

Great place for a quick stoop to find some imported eastern European produce/products. They have an amazing open buffet which serves a large variety of all sorts of food, fresh, hot/cold and delicious pastries. They have a small deli in the back with a great meet/cheese selection and delicious cakes in the front. They had my favorite desert, oreshki(nuts),(cookie type sweet dough on the outside, cracked in half with a condensed milk paste inside). Let’s just say that after I left, they«sold out» of them. The staff was proper and respectful not as the typical«Russianized» service you would find in other small deli’s/grocery shops. They were all they helpful when I Wes looking for particular products. They also have a much larger selection then I have seen before in smaller cities like Charlotte and Seattle. My friends took me there for lunch and I loved it so much I went back a few days later and packed on a ton of stuff for my road trip back home. There are two other shops in the same parking lot — shopping strip — that also carry European goods. One with dry /canned goods and the other with souvenirs suck as Matryoshkas(nesting dolls), Russian books and more… So when I could not find something there, they were nice to let me know about the two other shops that I visited and sure enough bought some Matryoshki gifts for my loved ones. Can’t wait to go visit again and have lunch there. Felt like I was 5 – 10 years old again eating in my mother’s kitchen but with dozens of more options!

I have been looking at reviews of places online for Slavic/Russian food and I chose this place because of the good reviews. I am so glad I gave it a chance! The food is delicious. Makes me miss my grandmother’s cooking so much. They have a great selection of Eastern European foods, chocolate, seafood, canned goods, and produce. The deli has all kinds of meats and cheeses. There is a freezer with different cakes. I recently bought one of their Pigeon’s Milk cakes which I LOVE and recommend it. So light, and tasty. I love the open buffet and it’s hard to choose which food items to have for lunch or dinner :) Always a generous selection. The salads are wonderful and I’m never disappointed when trying something new there. The soups are delicious. Their borscht soup is AMAZING. I usually make borscht myself, but this was my first time trying it in a market/deli/café and I will definitely be back for more. It is SO worth a try. The staff are Russian speaking, but they can speak some English too. just don’t expect long explanations or anything too detailed, lol. They try to be helpful when asked questions. You will get the Russian treatment, which I mean in and of itself. Don’t expect smiles or fake attitudes, trying to sell you something. They are just there to do their job. I’m a happy customer and will be returning. :)

I’m Russian and have cravings for my home food. But man am I tired of tossing the crab salads and Olivie aka potato salad it doesn’t taste fresh. Every time I go it’s just icky. I do stock up on their kefir and dairy but Hallandale international market is cheaper.

The merchandise is either old, improperly transported or a lab experiment. I got a mouth full of mold when I realized my dessert was in fact a Petri dish of hairy turquoise custard. The bakery is decent. The cold service and«da fuq u want me to do about it. I’m not giving you a refund» attitude when I politely pulled a clerk aside to show him the rotten merchandise and fix my problem without letting other customers see the disgusting crap they peddle was just absurd. Not the only one apparently. Tons of people have this issue here… How do you get away with that?

We went to this deli to take a bite on something different. We were a bit skeptical because we didn’t read up on it etc. To our surprise it was delicious, and I mean delicious! This is a Russian Deli that you weigh your food and the price is $ 6.99 per lbs before 8pm. We were not use to this kind of concept so it was a bit odd. We tried the red peppers stuffed with ground beef and pork.(Delicious and moist) Lamb meatballs(lovely with a hint of citrus) Rice with vegetables and beef(To rave about) Chicken stuffed with mushrooms, Onions, Tomatoes and smothered with cheese(Wow, will have my wife attempt to duplicate this — simply terrific) This was a take a chance without any prior knowledge of this restaurant and we do not regret this at all. Lovely quaint place with nice people and very very helpful . An absolute revisit will be mapped out very soon.

We love coming here. We literally will drive here from the Orlando area just to eat here. My kids beg to visit Matryoshka. We have taken Russian visitors here and they loved it, too. No great atmosphere, but it appears clean and it’s quick and authentic. Wish there was something like this closer to us. We haven’t really bought any of the products in the store other than the buffet, followed by coffee and dessert, but it has thus far been a memorable experience.

I know nothing about Russian food, other that Bourch(beet soup). So when in «Little Russia», eat like a Russian. It is only a deli with 6 hot serve stations and a soup bar with Bourch. There are a few tables outside on the sidewalk. I sampled beef stroganoff, chicken in sauce, spiced beef, potatoes, and a pint of Bourch. Not great, but eatable. I don’t think Russia is know for food beyond potatoes? But nothing ventured, no strange food enjoyed

I came in yesterday to the store and I purchased couple of items. When I came home I realized I forgot one if the items. I called the same day to the store and let them know that I forgot the item and the lady on the phone was nice. She took my name and told me just come back and we will give you the same item. I came back the next day and the manager I believe by the name Oksana was rude. Oksana questioned me who did I speak to? What time? When did I purchase groceries? I answered to her that I didn’t take the name of the person on the phone because she took my name. I did not take the receipt because I thought it was no problem to get a $ 3 dollar item. Plus I drove 15 miles to the store. Oksana said she cannot give me the item because she would be in trouble. I had to buy the same item and leave. I came to the store because I loved the food. I am from CA I have never experienced anything like that. I go to Shalom store in Los Angeles. Once I forgot the cake that was a lot more expensive. They saved the cake for me, and when I was back I had no problem receiving it. What kind of manager is Oksana? If she doesn’t have an authority to deal with $ 3 dollars or to give back what belongs to a client.

One must understand the desire to eat Russian food. If you do not have a taste for it then maybe this place is not where you should eat. Improvements have been constant and right now is doing great with good food. I love the selection of packaged food from Russia. The stores next to also have outside seating so at times it does get crowded, a testimony to the nice location and popularity. My 7th time eating dinner here and I am never disappointed. The best dessert is the packaged Ukrainian cakes in the back cooler, I only remember finding them in Brooklyn but now they are here, the problem is if you buy one you will eat all of it!!! One note is that is is busy later on in the evening for it is cooler. Once again, it you are looking for good Russian/Ukrainian food then this is a very good place. I will return again and again.

One of my favorite places to hang out, I go there to have some tea or maybe to have lunch there with my friends, very nice place, especially outside. Plus now my friend works there and she said that everything is fresh and totally safe to eat there. And stuff there are pretty nice also. It gets better little by little with every day.

It’s clean and nice Russian store/restaurant, however — little overpriced(buffet food) and little too oily for my taste. I took some salads that were very expensive and oily, so my experience was not that good. However the store is big and they have huge selection of products from Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Moldova, Romania, etc.

Typical Russian style grocery store. Pretty clean with a lot of food on the shelves and refrigerators. They have a kitchen in the back and cook some tasty dishes. There is an espresso machine around the cashier. You could order a coffee and some deserts. We bought some food cooked at their kitchen. It was OK but nothing special. Desserts were very rich but that’s it — almost tasteless. Still, it may be a good place to go for a quick bite and to buy some produce you could easily cook yourself in a rented condo while on vacation for a week or so. Or buy a salami to fix a sandwich.
