I have shopped in this store many times before for cards and found they have a good selection of everything. However, I went in today to buy some holiday cards and was followed around by the sales associate like I was going to steal something. She asked if I needed help finding anything and I told her no. She continued to stand over my shoulder the entire time, not paying attention to any of the other customers in the store. I felt so insulted that I left and will never shop at this location ever again.

Congratulations to the new owners of this great store. It’s great to walk in and see big smiles to greet u. It no longer takes half an hour to get help or to pay for a card. I have been going to this store for many years and even though the old owners were nice it was definitely time for them to retire. Great to see a young family taking over one of the only decent stores left on Greenpoint avenue. Good luck folks.

In some aspects, service only goes so far but in this instance, it’s because of service that keeps me coming back. I am almost convinced the owner here is one of the nicest guys I’ll ever meet. He’s helped me in pinches that only people who truly care could, here are my experiences: #1: I am lookng for an apology card and hate the few I’ve found so far. He goes to the back and digs around the entire store while trying to figure out something that is suitable for me. And, he gives me the least expensive card. #2: I only have a couple of dollars in cash and a $ 100 dollar bill. My card is 99 cents. He actually offers to change my $ 100 when most stores would be reluctant to do more than $ 50. #3: He doesn’t have much hired help and was once scouring the joint for a Mother’s Day card. He not only found an amazing card but he nabbed it from the backroom. #4: He has enough courtesy to wish every customer coming in a good morning /afternoon /evening and is nice enough to wish each departing patron well. $ 5: He’ll make good recommendations on things other than cards. He’s even told me to try local stores down the road for various gift items that were also available in the store. Honest and helpful, that’s a rarity nowadays. In the end, this Hallmark store looks like the rest. Stocked with generic Hallmark labeled cards with pricey non-card gifts like candles and boxed sets, but I’m glad Sunnyside at least has a card option in the area. And none better run by an excellent owner who does a great job of keeping his customers happy.
