Horrible terrible service. Horrible. The old woman behind the counter is ridiculous. This review has nothing to do with the food but just the lady and service. Ugh!

I LOVE it here BECAUSE the food is ALWAYS superb, over the top! BUT!!! Dont expect to get a good service bc it will NEVER happen. ONLY go if u would like to have the BEST Indian food~~~~~~! Dont forget to ask for free fried fish chips w dipping sauce! Our usual order is Daal soup, veggie samosa, chicken tikki marsala, garlic naan& the total only comes out to approx $ 20! Cant go wrong w that!

The service is completely hit or miss depending on who is behind the counter, but the food is relatively consistent and generally satisfying.

I’ve ordered in Indian food from a couple places in the area but was disappointed(one dish tasted bland, the other burnt). Decided to try this place on a whim while walking around and OMG yuuuummmmm. Finally some good indian food. The interior is not fancy, and the service was okay(we were the only people there so I guess it was a little awkward). The waitress did warm up to us and become more friendly near the end of our meal though. Samosas and poori were SOGOOD. We both had a lamb dish for dinner; lamb was very tender and the sauce was tasty and complex… not just a homogeneous blend of random spices. Will definitely be eating there again, though judging by other reviews, not sure about ordering delivery.

This is the authentic stuff. The tandoori chicken is by far my favorite dish. Service isn’t great but good cheap food is hard to come by now a days

We ordered delivery last night. The ordering process took some patience– the restaurant has not streamlined that process yet. Then we needed some more patience: we waited for about an hour for our food to come(even though we are a few blocks away). But its biryani people: it takes time to make! But once it did: hello! Totally satisfied a craving that I woke up to yesterday. We had both the chicken biryani and the goat biryani and the mixed veggies. The goat biryani was our favorite dish. I do wish they had a more interesting selection of veggies as this a highlight of Bengali food. The best part: I requested that the food be spicy and they did that part perfectly. Cutting up little pieces of serrano peppers and spread it into the food. Achieved a wonderful level of heat. I’m Bangladeshi so I’m particular about my Bengali food and I want it to be spicy!- we’ll be ordering from here again!

I love Indian food, but this place just doesn’t do it for me. I mean, since there are few options within walking distance this is ok if you just want Indian food — I’ve been there twice myself. However, the service is not great. I’m sure the waitress is family, but they really need to give her some customer relations training. I ordered a lassi even though I don’t normally drink milk, but I had a craving. Unfortunately, this lassi did not meet that craving. I ordered the saag paneer and my friend ordered the chicken tikka masala. The food is fine, it’s just not anything to write home about. Oh and you have to order a minimum of $ 15 to use your card, so come prepared.

2 stars is generous(It’s more of a 1.5 star place). You can find much better food at other locations. Service(um none to be had here). The«waitress» just sat at the counter looking at her phone. The interior is in need of repairs(I’m not sure how they managed an A rating). The food was edible, however, you can find better elsewhere(e.g., Curry Point).

Tasty inexpensive food. I really enjoyed their food. It’s authentic and the atmosphere intimate — it feels like your are sitting in a living-room of an Indian family and their grandma is serving you with her home cooking made of her secret recipes. I love their vegetable and meat samosas my friend had an another vegetable dish and salad … Very yummy. This place is to satisfy your appetite of Indian food in a very casual environment and is set up for deliveries /take aways. This place is Not for going on a glitzy date or an evening out and expecting an immaculate service… please… Be cool… I read some previous reviews people complaining about poor service, yes they might not speak fluent English neither serve you with first class etiquette … What are you expecting … When you feed two people for 20 $ /25 $ only. I certainly come back and indulge in more Indian comfort food and feeling am on the set of Danny Boyle’s «Slumdog Millionaire» movie. And recommend it to everyone who is on my waive length regarding simple eateries.

I just love this little place! I came with a friend, we typically order the standard fare, tonight our adorable waitress suggested that she prepare something special. She brought us chicken kurma, and roei fish dishes. They were both excellent dishes!!! Just come here and ask them to do something off the menu, you will be so pleased!!! We Promise.

Incredible food, best biriyani around! Great prices! Service is a little slower than your average restaurant but the food is completely worth the wait! Authentic home-style cooking, not just Americanized junk style. Definitely suggested!!!

It was almost comical how abysmal Biriyani House was. First off, when we walked in, everyone seemed completely confused, customers and staff alike. Another couple walked in after us and left after about 10 minutes of not even being acknowledged by the staff. For the entirety of our meal, a woman in the kitchen was literally screaming at the waitress the entire time. The Bollywood movie on the 90s television was probably the best part of the whole experience. Then the food came. The garlic naan bread tasted like wet towel. The chicken tikka masala was horrendous. The meat was so gnarly — 97% dark, gristly, fatty, narsty stuff. The sauce was a weird light orange color and tasted like it would be better suited for a mop bucket. There was also a TON of iceberg lettuce on the plate, which epitomized the complete blandness of the entire meal. The only other person eating in the restaurant was an Indian dude hunched over a bowl of Dal soup, which looked like prison slop — his facial expression was affirming my thoughts. We only took about three bites out of each dish, and when asked if we wanted the food to go, we quickly declined. When the bill came we couldn’t wait to pay and run out of there. Save your wallet(and colon) the expense!

It was as close to indian/Jackson heights as we can get. Excellent price for the food. Everything tasted good, which explains it taking little bit long to make. Worth the wait thou.

Though Sunnyside now sports several Indian/Pakistani establishments, not so long ago, Biriyani House was literally the only option. A family owned spot that has only a handful of tables, they’ve been serving a cheap variety of veggie /meat quality dishes for years. Based on their menu and romanized dishes, it might be safe to assume the restaurant is not exclusively Indian or Pakistani at all, but rather Bangladeshi. For example, a classic veggie appetizer of onion fritters is commonly called«bhaji» in North Indian dialects, but their version«piaji» may suggest otherwise. Anyone who can confirm this would be highly appreciated. Shag ponir anyone? I’ve had some decent luck with their samosas(veggie $ 1.50 /meat $ 2), which are crispy with a nice veg /nonveg stuffing. The aforementioned piaji onion fritter($ 1) is understandably light, but not much flavor in that batter. I’d recommend skipping the soups and the kathi roll($ 2), which were just too underwhelming to appreciate. On the curry front, the results are mixed. I’ve not done so well with the fish curry($ 11), a soupy tilapia makes for a sad dish. The classic chicken tikka masala($ 11) was also mildly disappointing, with chunks of leftover tandoori(all too common) that were tough and overcooked simmering in a creamier than sweet masala sauce. Their chicken korma($ 10) was a surprisingly solid, the curry was fragrant and had hints of coconut milk throughout. The star of their show, the biriyani was solid. Chicken over goat, but neither were overly potent meat wise, but the rice was nicely seasoned and under $ 10 for a full plate. It could probably use a little bit of kick, but the same could be said with any of their items really. Service wise, the family staff is hospitable and friendly. Most everyone has been hospitable and friendly, though I’m not particularly fond of the delivery. Items are poorly packaged, often take what feels like forever, and can arrive a bit messy. Fingers crossed they up their standards on all fronts to compete with the multiple joints feature similar, if not better renditions of their signature dishes.

All I have to say is service is just as important as the quality of food. They have great goat biriyani. That said, when I tried to order delivery tonight, I placed my order and they said they would take a half hour. A half hour after I placed my order I got a call asking about the exact location of my address and after answering, the caller rudely told me that the location is too far for them to deliver. If you can’t deliver to my address, you should say so when the order is placed. Or a least within the next 5 minutes. Not when the order is expected to arrive. If you’re trying to order delivery from here, make sure they know your location before hanging up the phone.

This is the worst Indian food I have ever had. The restaurant smelled like Mumbai Slum(Ok, honestly, I don’t know how that smells like. But this place had a very strong and greasy smell.) So we asked to take out. We ordered chicken tikka masala and shrimp curry. The chicken tikka masala was neon pink and tasted nothing like what the dish was supposed to be. The shrimp curry was ok. However, we both got sick(minor food poisoning) afterward. Even we got two completely different dishes and did not(could not) finish the food. Not going back ever again.
