H&R Block

I was very disappointed by the (lack of) service I received at H&R Block. I had previously used a different tax preparer but was enticed by the commercials offering half off your previous years tax return. I wanted to get an estimate of my return and I scheduled a appointment and showed up on time. The receptionist was nice but after waiting for 20 minutes past my appointment time, I asked when I would be seen and I was told «another 10 – 20 minutes» and to «chill out». What’s the point of making an appointment if you’re not going to keep it?
I was finally seen by a different person than the one I had scheduled and this didn’t help. My preparer barely spoke english and struggled to use a computer and locate information on my w-​2. After 10 minutes of simply entering my personal information, she asked me to sign something. When I mentioned that I was uncomfortable signing anything until I knew what is was for and what my estimate was, a different person had to come over and explain that they wouldn’t be able to give me an accurate estimate without going through the whole process and paying for the return.
Needless to say, leaving was my best option. I was very disappointed by my experience and am unlikely to return to any H&R Block in the future. Take your taxes elsewhere or just do them yourself.
