Oh Dr. Hirshfield, how I tried, tried, and yes, tried again to visit your Sunnyside location.
First attempted visit — Dec. 2014. Made an appointment on ZocDoc, showed up at the appointed time having traveled from my office in Manhattan, and your office was locked and lights off. Called your other office, and was told that you were «running late» (how late TBD) and that I should make an appointment for another day. It’s close to the end of the year, I wanted to use by 2014 vision benefits, so made an appointment at your Fresh Meadows office and take a vacation day to visit it.
I was told when I made the Fresh Meadows appointment that I would be «prioritized» because of this incident, but I still waited an hour and a half. Saw a nice, efficient young woman (not Dr. Hirshfield). At end of visit, tried to order new contacts, was told I needed to call again a few days later because your office manager wasn’t in (first time that has happened in 15+ years of wearing contacts). Called a few days later, office manager says she needs to call my insurance but she’ll call me back. Don’t hear from her for days, realize it’s 12÷31÷14, no one picks up phone at your office, and so order from a not-​in-​plan provider just to use my 2014 benefits even though it’s higher out-​of-​pocket cost.
Second attempted visit — I had made a follow up appointment for mid-​Jan. in Sunnyside because of a potential eye problem the first doctor noticed. Morning of that visit, get a call to reschedule the appointment. Fine, whatever, I can reschedule again.
Third attempted visit — today. I called this AM to re-​confirm the visit given the past history with this office. Told it was confirmed. 7 train is down, so three trains later, finally in Queens en route to your office. Get a voicemail 16 minutes before scheduled appointment saying that you need to reschedule. Apparent problem with machine.
At this point, a few unanswered questions. Does Dr. Hirshfield actually exist? Is this office a scam? Should I be concerned that my sensitive medical information is being held at such a ridiculous practice? Is this why there are no Unilocal reviews for this location?
