The bartender with the braces does not know how to make cocktails. I asked for an old fashioned he gave me watered down bourbon with an orange slice. They also advertise food and then tell you they don’t serve food.

The two stars are for the service cause the folks at the bar were great and friendly! Food is ordered and comes from the pizzeria on the corner. I asked the gentleman for ketchup and out the door he goes and comes back with one packet of ketchup? I ordered the Ginger Sirena and the first red flag was when it came in a pint glass. The drink had no flavor it was mostly lime and was not pleasant. Also tried the El Diablo and it was spicy water. The bartenders were very very nice I just might suggest to management, for the cocktail menu that less is more in terms of the size of the cocktails. Quality will trump quantity any time.

New to the area, just moved from the UES, and met the owners on a random Sunday afternoon. Great guys, very friendly. The place has a lot of custom carpentry that gives it a warm feel. The place is great for an emerging soon to be «hip» neighborhood. Obviously the one drawback is lack of food. That being said, there are many take out options across the street on Greenpoint ave. Literally three different Latin American restaurants plus an Indian and Italian restaurant. The pizza place on the corner has some good slices. I’m not sure about the rest of the menu. To those of you that are overly critical of the lack of food I say this… Sometimes in life you have to suck it up and walk your fat ass across the street for some empanadas. If your crying about that then you don’t understand NYC and you should go back to the Midwest. I support these guys and what they are trying to do in this area.

Went tonight for a few cocktails and my husband had beer. I had 2 nice drinks. One blood orange drink one cucumber drink. Its abt 2 blocks from our house. I would give it another try on a happy hour deal

This is an unusual place, but its«uniqueness» is what makes it shine. Is it a wine bar? A sports bar? A cocktail bar? A hipster bar? A yuppie bar? Well, all of the above! Its a very relaxed but stylish vibe, and serves a strong list of specialized cocktails, a reasonable wine list, and a nice variety of craft brews. Happy hours are a steal, but the bar’s chill vibe comes out best for relaxing after dinner drinks. Sports do often play in the background for the sports fan, but I wouldn’t consider it the main draw. Music tends towards rock and alternative. The crowd is a mix of the old and the new, with long time locals joining in for the good happy hour deals and the younger, more stylish(and moneyed) set enjoying the chic(by Sunnyside South standards) vibe. My only recommendation is that they turnover the specialized cocktail list more often, like every month or so. Happy first anniversary Vivire, and here’s to many more!

I have been waiting to review Vivire until I had enough of a sample size to justify writing about a bar. When Vivire first opened last year, I thought it was about time that a bar opened up around this specific area of Sunnyside. My dream of heavily drinking and stumbling/crawling to my apartment that is less than a block away came true. Of course I jumped at the chance to visit the establishment. Unfortunately, of all the times I have been at Vivire I have been one of the few people, if not the only person, at the bar. I think I either go at the wrong time or am just unlucky — a third option could be that everyone secretly dislikes me and knows how to avoid me(like the opposite of an Amber alert). Nevertheless, I like this bar because it’s well-kept, has friendly bartenders, makes good drinks, and a decent happy hour. I find myself making excuses to go to the laundromat next door just so I can have a drink at Vivire during the time when the clothes wash and dry. I will keep going back until I run into a crowd, then I will remember that I am a misanthrope and quickly exit. But seriously, a bar worth checking out.

This place is ok. I can’t really put my finger on it but everything is just ok and not totally on point. For example, the drinks are an attempt to be more high end cocktails, but the flavors and ingredients just aren’t expertly blended like, say, a place like Dutch Kills. And at $ 8 – 9 they are reasonably priced, but the size of the drinks were small and barely give us anything resorting a buzz(it was like having half a beer). The ambience also fell short — the wooden high tops gave it that rustic«Brooklyn» look, but the art was kind of New Age-y and the bar and floor had an industrial steel/concrete look… it just didn’t feel cohesive to me. There was absolutely nothing flat out wrong with this place, but it isn’t for me and I probably won’t be coming back.

A good spot for a martini after work. Very good selection of beers. Every now and then you can catch a movie on their projector screen.

Good bar, good bar tenders. The bar manager has zero personality. Reminds me of a piece of furniture.

I was here Sunday night for the first time, and I loved it! I had a couple of Diablos and they were delish, the bartender and her bar back were very sweet and attentive, they showed they care for the customers,(sadly you don’t get this kind of great service very often in Queens) overall it was a very rewarding experience, and a good culmination for great night out! I will definitely come back.

I like this bar because it’s a tucked away a few avenues away from queens blvd so its a bit of an gem in that it is totally hidden. The bar itself is pretty nice — clean and cool vibe. They have nice happy hour specials that last a good amount of time. They also serve popcorn which was a nice touch. I think they should serve food… It would add a nice component. We had to leave because we got hungry and they didn’t have anything to offer. There are restaurants close by so you can leave and come back if anything. Overall, nice, clean, and cool place. Will def be back.

Okay… here it goes: First of all I love that the owner was around when I went, he introduced himself and was super gracious. I definitely got the feeling that he knew what he was doing and this place will improve over time. working the kinks out, I get it. I’d love to rate this place 4 stars but I don’t think I’ll be back for a while. I feel like this place needs a few things to really make it POP. 1st– get an all-night special just like Molly Blooms or Gaslight. I know they make exceptions and are trying to build a repertoire with locals by being super friendly with on the house kinda things but having a sign for specials up for all to know they can order from will really seal the deal for a lot of people wanting to come back. 2nd– LOVE that they offered us popcorn, however maybe get rid of the c-town bags filled with Wise Popcorn that you just purchased and buy(gourmet) or make your own popcorn and if you really wanna get into it concoct your own salt/dressing for it! 3rd– I saw this billed as a wine bar, if that’s the case I think missing food is a MAJOR strike against you, Claret on Skillman will always be top priority over this place. What one bar lacks another offers something different so with that said figure out what it is that’s gonna set you apart. Molly Blooms has food, Gaslight has the outdoor space and drink specials, Claret Wine Bar has the food, Courtyard has the games, specials and established. Vivire is missing whatever that is and I hope it finds out soon because we need some life on this tail end of Greenpoint!

I have been wanting to try this place since it opened. I finally got the chance to stop in for a drink and I really enjoyed myself. The bar its very pretty and I really liked the décor. It was modern and cozy at the same time. I sat at the bar and ordered a cocktail, I cant remember the name but it was the first one on the list. It was very tasty and the bartender took his time to make it which made me think he takes pride in his work. My drink was $ 9 which was refreshing since some Queens bar want to charge you Manhattan prices. If you are looking for a cool chill spot to enjoy a drink then check this place.

I love this place. I’m so happy that it opened in Sunnyside! Great selection of beers. Creative cocktails. Fair prices. Awesome happy hour specials. Friendly staff. Fun music. REALLY nice bathrooms :-) DOGFRIENDLY(though I’ve never brought my little pup there, they claim that I can… and I will!) They don’t serve food. But according to other reviews they allow you to order and have food delivered. I can imagine that if they do well they will begin to have some snacks and a selection of beer on tap.(Fingers crossed)

Thrilled about a new Wine Bar in Sunnyside; however, not thrilled about them having no food. Although you can order & have it delivered, It’s still a major disappointment(introduce a cheese plate at least)! As wine masters at tastings in Firenze always say, if you walk into a wine bar and they do not serve you any food, walk out. Although I didn’t walk out because I enjoyed the ambiance(dimmed lights, Halloween décor) and friendly service with great prices; i was super sad that they didnt even offer nuts. For the record, in case you cant clearly decipher the message from the entire tone of my review, wine bars need food! Just offer food, JUSTDOIT! Dont tell me i can order from somewhere, just let me order with you. Full tummy and liver = happy customers. Other important information to make note of: Happy Hour:(2for1) until 7!

A classy, and artsy bar gives the neighborhood something to talk about. I’ve been here many times. The artwork centers around the historic neighborhood. In the bathroom, there are portraits of Frankenstein and an amazing photo of Jimmy Hendricks! Near the back in the ceiling a décor of beer cans line the sun roof. In the corner of the bar there is a «Bullshit Corner». This bar attracts locals. Some of which know the bartenders by first name. The friendly atmosphere allows for easy conversation. Anyone can join in on. The large TV screens show sport games or movies. Ask the bartenders to change the channel to suit your taste. Vivire serves Italian food. The menu contains some inviting dishes. Recently, Vivire formed an alliance with Marabella. Not a bad way to increase your business. Come and enjoy this fun setting. Sunnyside residents do. Why not you?

Great spot. New to the hood and much needed on the south side of the boulevard. Warm wood décor, with iron work highlights. Live the diamond plate on the bar with the rebar footrest. Great for chilling with friends or romantic get together. Friendly staff and some great mixing. The cocktail were very tasty and a great selection of beer. Loved the homemade jalapeño infused tequila used in the el diablo. Great new addition!

I noticed that they were finally open on my commute home today, and that they had a pretty nice two-for-one special until 7PM. Every other bar in the neighborhood has either no happy hour, a bad one, or one with crap beers(looking at you, Gaslight). I decided to pop in for a drink or two, ’cause why not. The décor is nice. Nicer than anything the neighborhood has to offer. The beer selection is good, but I was a little disappointed that there were no drafts(yet, I was assured). The Whiskey selection was pretty good, and the wines seemed good but I don’t know much about that kind of stuff. Staff is super friendly, as one needs in a proper neighborhood bar. It could use a bit of banging up to add some character to the place, but if it stays open like I hope it does, that will soon be there. An outdoor area on the sidewalk out front wouldn’t hurt either. All in all, a welcome addition to the neighborhood bar scene, and one that we sorely needed. Here’s hoping to many happy years here. I’ll definitely be back. (PS, get some board games, and maybe some bar nuts.)
