My favorite bookstore. Great service if you need anything and good proximity shopping. I see good books proximate to what I first look for. Bookstore magic at its best.

I think this place is going out of business, went there on a weekday at 11am and it was closed, lights off, etc.

They had their double front doors wide open, walked in, and the door chime went off. Even more so, their parrot kept screeching continuously for ten minutes until someone came out from the back. The guy didn’t ask if he could help me or anything, he was just upset that my browsing was disturbing the bird. The books are nicely arranged by technical category. Every book has a round circular sticker with a certain percentage off the cover price. How much you get discounted seems quite random. This place is tame compared to the old Computer Literacy Bookshops, but in a world of disappearing bookstores, it’s better than nothing, and lets hope it stays open.

Parrot is awesome books there are even more awesome! This place is like a dream come true, now I can build my top secret labor-a-tory!!! With books like«Quantum Physics for Scientists and Technologists» how can you EVER go wrong? All the books in the store seem to be discounted from 10−30%, even one I picked up was about $ 6 less than the suggested price. I know everyone has a Kindle these days — stores like this make it great and remind us that sometimes having a physical book is much better than electronic reference. The selection at the store included books that were not listed on the website, going in person is a much more fun endeavor anyhow, and again, you wouldn’t get to see the Parrot, so there’s that too!

It has perhaps the largest selection of computer and engineering books in Santa Clara area(if you want better than that — visit Stanford bookstore). I go to DigitalGuru to browse books I’m interested in. Prices are nominal, so it’d be cheaper to purchase the book online.

5 stars because there is not alot of brick and mortar tech bookstores in the area. Great selection of tech books for SW and HW engineers. They only have tech books. The store is clean and comfortable to browse and they have a small sitting area if you want to read a bit before buying a book.

Pro’s — Don’t have to wait for shipping on tech books! — As close to you can get to 100% coverage of technical books. Everything from Knuth to the latest book covering Python on a Plane. They had the recently released Google Web Toolkit Applications I was looking for. — The staff is quite helpful and has easily been able to find any book I’ve asked about, despite the apparent lack of organization. — Decent hours: open till 830 on weekdays despite being a definite«niche» bookstore. Just enough time to head over after work. — Plenty of parking. Neutral — Prices are reasonable. Not exorbitant, not low. It’s probably about the same as Amazon when you include shipping, but then, you don’t have to wait when you go to digital Guru. Cons — Organization is poor(It’s in the«computer books» section), but the staff will guide you, so this is mostly a non-issue for me. — No atmosphere you’d expect with a «Bookstore». No Coffee, no chairs to sit and read. But then, they are tech books, not Thoreau.

Yes, if you’re in the high tech field, this is one of those few places where you can sit around and read that shite. Most traditional book stores have gone and vanished but in Silicon Valley, there is enough geek support to keep something like this alive.

It has tech books… end of story. you looking for a tech book? they got it… usually at a slight discount. No out of date Windows 2000, Turbo Pascal, books… current, and sometimes a little abstract stuff. pretty cool shop. I can’t imagine anywhere in the world other than in the valley that a shop like this could survive

This is my one-stop shop for programming books. Books on every programming language, schema, and operating system imaginable are in this 6000 square foot store. Good for browsing and buying alike, this store’s staff is knowledgeable and ready to help order any title.
