Found this little gem on accident. Everyone is polite, fast service, good prices and free ice cream! My go to spot when in the area.

This is a very solid Mongo BBQ place with plentiful meats(lamb, beef, chicken, pork and shrimp for dinner), noodles, veggies and sauces. Everything is there for you to make your favorite Mongo BBQ creation, and you can keep coming back for more as it is AYCE. The grill is super hot so your plate is ready quickly. There is also egg drop noodle soup and rice included in the meal as well as soft serve on a cone or bowl. I see fans coming here in droves to grind after 49er games or some techies who want to pound during lunch.

The minute, asinine, and trivial complaints of so many reviewers should not deter you from what is essentially the onlydecent mongolian bbq in the south bay. While people have their loyalties to the others in Santa Clara, they’re not worth mentioning, much less actually going to. Gobi has quality meat and veggies, the noodles are proper egg noodles instead of the spaghetti noodles you receive at certain substandard mongo in SC, and the sauces get you the flavor you need without terrible dilution. The flavors are good and despite a relatively high price, Gobi satisfies that mongo craving. If you’re in the south bay, do it.

Worst Mongolian food I have ever had. We went there during peak dinner hours and the restaurant was totally unprepared for guests. The vegetables were all stale and discoloured. The meat was very raw and all the items were almost over. Nobody tried coming and replacing the finished items although it was only 8.30pm. To add to all this, the service was bad. We asked for Coke without ice but our drink had plenty of ice. When we told the waiter to replace it, he just came, took a spoon and scooped out all the ice from our drink right in front of us. Leaving it half empty. The ice cream machine was also not working.

All you can eat buffet style, lunch is definitely a better deal than dinner since they are the same items but with different pricing. Food is decent, the place is kind of small though. Good for lunch on a workday.

Fantastic lunch spot. You may need to flag someone down for drink refills, but this is my favorite lunch location within walking distance. Some reviews say their food lacked a good flavor, but since you build your meal yourself, well… that’s not really the restaurant’s fault. They do provide a «menu» for sauces, telling you how to mix the favorites, as well. As a heads-up, though, the portions the menu lists are for one bowl of food(not two), so I often see people only using half the sauce they actually wanted.

Tried once for lunch and found it inferior to any of the other local Mongolian BBQ places. Ingredients were reasonably fresh and well restocked; selection not so great. Very few veg, even fewer sauces. While the fault may have been with my mix, my meal was cardboardy — the flavor just wasn’t there. The ventilation was failing so the entire room was choked with smoke. Not too great for atmosphere. The wontons were ok, and of course ice cream is always a plus. But on the whole I’d probably skip this place in the future.

Great place to go when you’re hungry. You can fill up two bowls at a time. They put out frozen sliced chicken, beef, lamb and pork. At the end of the row, they also have imitation crab meat and tofu. I like to fill one bowl with meat and the other one with noodles and vegetables. They have a bunch of sauces that you can choose from and recommended combinations of the sauces. After I hand the chef my bowls of raw food, I like to munch on an ice cream cone when I’m waiting in line. They have a soft serve ice cream machine conveniently located right next to the grill. There is also soup and rice available beside the ice cream machine as well. It’s all you can eat, and the staff are quite attentive. I went on a weekend so there was barely any people. I remember going on a weekday lunch hour before and the place gets pretty busy. The price is out of date on their website. I believe it’s just under 10 dollars for weekday lunch and just under 12 dollars for dinner, weekends and holidays. I’ll be coming back again when I feel the need for AYCE.

This place is great. Their food is always fresh, they have good selections, more stuff on the weekends, but it’s very yummy and fun to have your bowl made in front of you. Anytime my brother comes to town he requests a lunch here. It’s all you can eat so you get your money’s worth. Good price, good food, soft serve afterwards.

The price is great for an all-you-can-eat, but remember: you have to pay for everything you don’t finish! Not so great for people with eyes bigger than their stomach like me –_– Unfortunately, for an all-you-can-eat, the atmosphere reminds me of a mall food court. I don’t want to stay and eat all I can in the place that wants me to grab a quick bite and go. I’d go here for a long lazy lunch, not for crowded rushed dinner.

Love love love. Only 3 stars because the little kids put what they dropped back into the veggie bar and left a huge mess in the sauce station. But other than that the food is all you can eat and very tasty. The waitress explained the whole process to us. Best part was the ice cream. Definitely will be back

I’ve been on a Mongolian BBQ high lately. and wanting to try all different Mongolian BBQ places. This place was near us one evening and I coerced my hubby that we should have it for dinner. And we went. And I was disappointed. I think what turned me off was the service we received… or didn’t receive. When we arrived the buffet line was needing dire attention for items to be replenished. But the staff of men were just sitting and eating. Then my husband mentioned, «you need more noodles» and then one guy got up, went to the kitchen, and dumped a bag of noodles on the container. But, that wasn’t the worst part, the part that bothered me was when the guy was rushing us out of the restaurant. Awkward and just plain weird. Anyways, enough of that. Still a legit place for Mongolian BBQ, with lamb, and soft serve ice cream.

I come here all the time! But they got decent prices but i was grossed out to see a cockroach crawling on the table they have the vegetables, when i went to serve myself second time around. When i pointed it the gentleman that seemed in charged about it he got all upset. He insisted i pay for my food and rushing me to sign the reciept because he needed to know if i was going to leave a tip!!! When i asked about comping my food cause of the roach he started yelling at me i was really shocked! never coming here again! Horrible customer service and cockroaches!

Gets really crowded during weekday lunches. I thought it would be hard to find a table but the workers found seats for us while we were still in line to get our food. The choices were typical as any Mongolian BBQ place. Nothing too special but still has all the necessities. The cooks made my food REALLY fast which amazed me until I sat down to eat it. Some of my vegetables were still a bit cold but my 5 other co-workers at the table didn’t complain. Maybe it was just mine…

First time at Gobi Mongolian BBQ on Tasman. Very few choices, but ingredients looked good. I used the garlic recipe, pretty tasty. The people are nice and once you finish your plate, right away the waiter asks to take it away. The sauce recipes are for a single bowl so if you go up with two bowls, better double up.

Been here twice within a week’s time, that must mean something, right? Went once at 6PM on Thursday and Sunday at 11:30AM. Charged $ 11.50 each time and it was worth every darn cents. Right when you come in, you’re greeted by an employee who asks if you’ve been here before. Yes? Then he’ll ask you what you’d like to drink and lets you get on your merry way to filling your two bowl limit(per trip). No? Then he’ll tell you the prices, that there’s soup and rice, and that a galore of ice cream cones are awaiting your consumption. It works like this: you grab two bowls, grab whatever ingredients you want, sauce it up to your style(or follow the recipes they have posted), and give it to the employee that will cook it on the huge hot surface. Watch out for the ending move, it’s quite impressive the way he fills the plate in one fell swoop. From my recollection, these are some of the ingredients provided: Meats: Lamb, Chicken, Beef, Pork, Shrimp(playing ninja near the vegetables) Vegetables: Bean Sprout, Corn, Cabbage, Onions, Scallions, Broccoli, Carrots Sauce: Gobi BBQ, Sweet and Sour, Oil, Teriyaki Spices: Salt, Pepper, Sesame seeds Hope this helps and happy noms!

Mongolian BBQ can only be so good. Frozen everything cooked for 30 seconds on a hot surface can only be so good. I give it 2 stars compared to many other foods in the area, but I guess if I’m only comparing to other mongolian bbq places, it’s a 3. $ 10 for all you can eat lunch. Sounds great, but if you think about it, you can get the same quantity but higher quality at many other places. unless you’re a huge eater and can stuff your face but for people like me to get one serving, don’t let the ayce entice you. I tried to stuff my bowls with as much meat/veggies as possible and not so much noodles but somehow the meat/veggies shrank a ton and the noodles seemed to expand after it was cooked. Words of advice, get more meat/veggies than you think you need, and get less noodles than you think you want. You can always get more noodles later. The thing about having everything cooked on the same surface means that stuff the guy in front of me put in his bowl gets in my food. I don’t enjoy spicy foods, so I only put teriyaki/soy/bbq sauces in my noodles. When I got my food back, I saw many red flakes and it came out medium spicy. I had to drink a decent amount of water during my meal and there’s really nothing I could have done about that because it was just leftover spice from the guy in front of me. He must have put a ton in his. If you’re vegetarian and you come here, make sure you ask the chefs to water down the surface before cooking your meal. They’ll do that and they’ll also not cook another guy’s meat-filled meal right next to yours. Soft serve is good.

This place is okay, nothing special. I would say your average Mongolian BBQ. Doesn’t bother me, but if you are particular about cleanliness you may not enjoy this place. Tables and floor are a little grimy. Overall, okay meal if you’re really hungry for some all you can eat Mongolian BBQ.

This is our little work spot right here. All you can eat for under $ 10 at lunch time, a very nice deal indeed. The ingredients look pretty fresh, minus the meat which is frozen but I think that’s the traditional Mongolian BBQ thing to do. I’ll normally eat two or three plates worth. The sauce tray area is always a plus, you can make what feels like unlimited combinations of food tastes with the sauce tray. Some of my favorite sauces are the gobi, garlic, and teriyaki, but not all mixed at the same time, well maybe mixed all together if I am feeling up to it. :)

It’s a good place if you feel like Mongolian BBQ. The lunch all you can eat is worth the money. Food is delicious, and you have many choices of sauces to add. I like how friendly the owner is. He takes care of the cash register, and he smiles all the time.
