Over rated south Indian restaurant that doesn’t live up to the expectations. I went there on a weekend and it was very busy. I ordered their meals which include only 5 items(including rasam and sambar). Taste was ok and service is good. Restrooms and ambiance are really bad. restrooms look awful. I wouldn’t go there again considering their quality and choices in food. There are lot of restaurants around the area which are much better in price and variety than Pesarattu

It brings you the taste of andhra to your dish genuinely as it is. Highly recommend. Unlimited tasty food certainly will not disappoint you.

Visited Pesarattu for lunch today. No frills, homestyle vegetarian thali. No menucard etc here. If you crave for homestyle staple food, this place is worth it. Nothing like hot rice, dal and 1 veggie on a cold day like today. Will repeat.

All that matters in a restaurant is the food. ANDTHEFOODISHEREISABSOLUTELYFANTASTIC. For true authentic South Indian food, this place is ideal. They are true in their ingredients and they refill with no issues. The most fresh South Indian food I’ve had in the South Bay! Not much design or flash to the restaurant, but that’s not why I come here, I come for the food, and it has NEVER disappointed.

Went here again after a long time and this time ordered the unlimited meals. Had a totally different experience. Food is good and served hot. Really like the daal and sambar. They are accepting cards now and is usually crowded for lunch times on the weekends.

I got Unilocal’s Carrot Top badge after checking in here. Well, that’s how crazy i go over Vegetarian cuisine. Pesarattu offers simple yet tasty & impressive home-like food. I’m a big fan of their ‘Telugu Sampoorna Bojanam’ meals. Visited the place just a while ago for dinner & today’s Garlic Spicy Rasam topped their menu. It tasted so authentic and so much like my Mom’s. This meal is a favorite to my husband as well and we happily hang out here just to enjoy their meals menu. Telugu Sampoorna Bojanam — Unlimited meals: It comes with a plate of Dal/Sambar, Veg curry — today’s was Beans curry, Andhra style pickle — today’s was eggplant pickle, Fryums & mirchi podi(Chilli powder), Rice, Rasam — today’s was Garlic, Yogurt & a simple dessert — today’s was Mango & mixed fruit custard. Items are served Hot & Fresh and as far as meals are concerned, you can ask for any number of servings. Like many Indian restaurants in the bay area, this place is predominantly run by male staff and the servers are quick & attentive. It has roughly around 9 tables(tables of 4s &2s to sit inside). It’s neither a fine dining nor a huge place to welcome big groups. It’s small and sticks to decent cleanliness standards. Has ample parking space. Our other picks, Guntur Mirchi Bajji — very spicy, to an extreme level(try only if you’re really ready to take so much spice level), Dosas — fine & good. When it comes to reviewing restaurants, I don’t mind how big or sophisticated the place is,(Yes of course, attractive décor is a bonus for the business), I’m only concerned about 3 factors mainly, — Quality, — Quantity & — the taste of the food they serve. Without a doubt, Pesarattu scores High on All the above. Highly recommended for their very reasonably priced meals menu. Gotta try their Afternoon meals — a must next time and gonna hit the place whenever I miss my home food.

Pesarattu serves moderately priced legit vegetarian food from the Andhra/Telangana region. TL;DR: Highly recommend their meals. Especially lunch over dinner. If meals are not your thing, their pesarattu(moong dāl dosa) and dosas in general are very good. For lunch, only meals are served. Service: Service is good but not typical as in other restaurants that serve Indian food. Banter from the server and background music are conspicuously absent. Food: Very good. Server hands you a stainless steel plate containing pappu(dāl), pachadi(curd based chutney), chilli & garlic podi(coarse powder), chips, a veggie curry & a sweet item. followed by rice. Make sure you ask for ghee. The chilli/garlic podi with ghee and rice is brutally delicious. Following this, you are prompted for sambār or rasam. The sambār is a little too tangy for my taste, but has a lot of veggies. Not a big fan of their rasam. Maybe it’s pulusu? Not sure. You are eventually offered curd. No better way to end a south indian meal than with curd rice. Don’t be shy. Feel free to ask for seconds, thirds & fourths. By fourths, you might start resembling a barrel. No? More power to you. Smiles and sleep guaranteed.

I love this place, even though the space is small and mostly packed. I love the food. It makes me feel ‘at home’. It extremely filling, sometimes the sides do get greasy buy I would go no matter what. If you are looking for a place to go which feels like your home cooked food it would be Pesarattu. The amount is huge, so if you hate to waste food you could ask for half the serving of everything!

I need to clarify my reviews. If one were to compare the service at this restaurant to the norm in America, then this restaurant would fail miserably. I consider the service to be a part of the culinary experience and this place serves up the authenticity in dollops! — the morose looking waiter who is hard of hearing, the tiny sink, Spartan tables — it’s all there. You just can’t smell the sweet carbon in the air or the melodious din of honking traffic that you would expect in that place called India. Go for lunch. Sit down. No words need be spoken. The plate is plonked in front of you. The food keeps coming onto the plate. Wave hand towards you for more and shoo him away when you want it to stop — this is called«unlimited meals» in India — something equivalent to eat-all-you-can or buffet. But unlike those, the food here is piping hot and gets served on your plate. There is no ala-carte at lunch. Evening and dinner is nice too and there’s a full menu of south Indian items — chilli bajji will make you cry coz your tongue wants to rip itself out of your larynx onto the floor, if you’re not already crying since this place will truly bring back memories to the south indian at heart. I knocked off a star because I need coffee/tea after lunch and it’s not served at lunch. All they have for lunch is the lunch and nothing else.

I got 2 meals to-go here but what I got was food that could easily fill 4 hungry teenage boys. There is no way on earth any human can completely eat their meals. Ordering one meals for a couple would still be too much food. The food itself tasted good. You can tell that all the items were fresh. The meals came with dal, sambhar, some type of spicy kurma type curry, poriyal/vegetable side dish, fryums, rice, yogurt, rasam, kesari, pickle and karam podi. Everything was yum!

If you are looking for ambience — this is not the place to go to. This is to grab an authentic Andhra meal at a rock bottom price. There are probably about 6 – 8 tables in the entire restaurant and there is a high probability that you will share your table with someone else. The food is authentic — which means this is going to be similar to what you would get in South India. Order the Sampoorna Andhra Bhojanam — basically an all-you-can-eat meal. They keep filling up rice and other items on the meal. The food is tasty and filling. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Me: table for two please. Owner: sure. Me: how long is the wait Owner: I can’t tell. If the food is good, people eat for longer Me: my friend is pregnant. We want know for that reason. She can’t stand for long. Any thing you can do for us ? Him: you Indians ! You came 20 thousand miles and you didn’t not leave your feudal mentality behind. Why can’t you change. You want special treatment … A simple no would have sufficed. Why yell at a pregnant woman? We did not ask for his philosophy on how we should live. How can such a sweet looking man be so rude !!

We went there on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. They lack basic hotel management skills. There was no menu, nor were we informed about what options we had for the meal. Only when we were given a plate with some food did we realize that this was a thali meals. No one informed us as to what was the menu for the thali would be. The place is pretty expensive considering that there is nothing apart from the rice in the meal. I assumed it was a unlimited thali, but I think they served only unlimited rice and sambhar. The taste of food wasn’t anything exceptional, that it would take be back to this place. If you have been to a local andhra mess in India, that is what this place is.

Had the full dinner here. Amazing authentic Andhra food!!! The rice is decent(probably has a little soda which is not good) and the daal and rasam are very good. Their vegetables are good generally. Service is very fast. Downsides: No rotis, no AC inside(so summer is not a good time to visit)

If you like Andhra style food and craving some ghee filled dal and veggies, this is your spot. I personally have been looking for good Andhra food and can say found something close to my expectations. Service– good as you would expect from a hole in the wall kind of place. Food-greasy and I mean very greasy but delicious. Not meant for calorie conscious for sure:) Value for money is pretty good– $ 21 for 2 for lunch. Now where do you get decent food, good service and great prices? Ambience– umm because it’s a very tiny restaurant, you will have to live with adjoining tables and their chatter but hey you come here food. I will come back again to try their dosa menu and coffee next but gratified with this visit… Happy bunny! Need a nice siesta now!

Small place with authentic spicy Andhra food. Mouth watering Pappu, Sambhar, Pulusu and Curd rice. They didn’t have any other options for lunch(on a Sunday afternoon), but the lunch served was awesome.

Feel like typical Andhra mess in chennai, lunch is really Good. Waiting time is the only problem if you go between 1 – 2 pm. As like regular Andhra mess, they serve dal, rice, some side dish like pakoras, Andhra style vegetable fries and sambhar, rasam, curd… quality of the items they provide is also good. They serve exactly like how they do in South Indian hotels. Taste wise, it is average. You will like it for sure, if you have been in Chennai. Never tried dinner & breakfast. Above Review is only for lunch.

Food is great, Andhra style south Indian meals. Limited items, but unlimited quantity. I hope they had more servers and attentive ones. In unlimited meals, one needs to keep looking at each table to proactively check if someone needs something. That reduces the discomfort of customers yelling to refill rice or sambar etc. Also the place is very small. For the demand they should find a bigger place. But still giving 4 stars for the food
