If I could give zero stars — I would. He assured me the floors would look new. Not. Even. Close. He was supposed to sand out scratches and replace boards that needed repair. He did not. He did not even finish the whole job. He left a line in the Master closet where he stopped. Unfortunately, I paid before I saw it. I know… Anyway, absolutely one of the WORST jobs I have ever seen and he was totally unprofessional when we asked him to fix obvious errors. I would NOT recommend his work — at all.

When accepting the bid for Mr. Cacciato’s work, I requested that our floor should look like new when completed. I complained that the floor leaked and I wished to have a waterproof floor(or at least water resistant) and I wanted all the cracks sealed. I went over this with Mr. Cacciato several times and discussed how important it was. I also asked him if the same could be done in the downstairs bathroom(where there was more damage than in other places). He assured me several times that all my requests would be fulfilled and the floor would look like new. – Yes, I kept asking him and continued to make sure he understood exactly what I wanted. His promises were not fulfilled. Because of an overzealous sander, the floor has many more cracks between the boards than it did to begin with. They are simply open and not waterproof at all. Much worse than simply not fulfilling his promise, in places where the floor was pristine before, these cracks are now present. They were never filled as promised and Mr. Cacciato made the problem worse. The downstairs bathroom looks very poor. Because the area is cramped and small, Mr. Cacciato’s industrial sander caught the wood at bad angles. There is much more damage than there was. Large chunks of wood are now missing and there was no effort to repair or replace the wood. So not only did he not fill the cracks to make the floor more water resistant, he made the problem worse to the point that I believe the entire floor needs to be replaced. The entire floor now has dimples and waves everywhere. Even in the parts where it was perfect before. I believe this is caused by an overuse of the sander at too high a speed. This caused a very unattractive effect. The floor shows many places where the stain/varnish/scratch resistant coating was allowed to dry in a puddle rather than a smooth coating. This is very unattractive. The appearance of the floor makes me think Mr. Cacciato’s promises were fraudulent or at the very least exaggerated. I’d like consideration be made that if he had not promised the floor would look new and be waterproof, I would have had a new floor installed rather than refurbish the old one. In trying to resolve the problem with him, I brought up these problems with Mr. Cacciato. I believe he did not put value to my complaints. However he did offer to put some sort of red putty in the cracks. He came over and did so. The putty sank through and the cracks are still there. He also offered to fix the bathroom if I was willing to pay $ 450 or possibly more(I would also have to hire a plumber to remove the toilet). This is unacceptable to me. This was included in our agreement and he either should have charged more to begin with, or not damaged our floor by using such a powerful and large sander in such an enclosed space. Every square inch of our floor has these waves from the sander now. I’m sure this sander saves time, but it also ruins the floor if not used properly.
