If you get caught at the beach on a rainy day this is the place to go. We watched the Beatles laser light show and it was great. This area is under appreciated and would be treasure find before it blows up

I saw two of the laser shows at the planetarium while on vacation at Sunset Beach. My group caught the Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon and The Beatles. Shows are very well done and entertaining. They even give you a little lesson on lasers and how they work and on the Beatles’ history coming to the US before the show, which I thought was pretty cool. It was $ 8/show/person — not bad in my opinion. Each lasts 40 – 45 minutes. The planetarium itself is very new and nice, the workers friendly. My one word of warning, if you have motion sickness this may not be for you, or you may want to take some anti-motion sickness meds before you go. Particularly during the Pink Floyd show, all the swirling made me dizzy and I had to shut my eyes for while. Still enjoyed the music though.

This is a fantastic place for a rainy day at the beach. They are still only open on Friday and Saturday so that does limit your chances a bit. We went to the 7 wonders show and it was really nice. At the end of each show one of the employees comes out and shows you other stars and kind of takes you on a «sky tour» around the outside of the planetarium. This was not so good. The man that did ours really didn’t seem to know what he was talking about and really stumbled over his information. Maybe he was new? The planetarium has a little mini museum in house. This was a REALLY nice surprise! AND… it is free! You can visit it without purchasing a ticket. It has a lot of hands on activities for kids and adults!

Fun way to introduce kids to astronomy. The exhibits are pretty entertaining, especially the water shooting game to race astronauts into space: Ingram Planetarium is open Friday and Saturday, shows are at 1, 2, 3 and 4PM. Admission is $ 8 for adults, $ 6 for seniors, $ 4 for kids 3 – 5 and free for 2 and under. They also host rock and roll laser shows featuring songs from Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Beatles and Metallica. Here is the events calendar: The place will be closed May 1 – 22 to upgrade to a new digital system.
