Wonderful old bar/restaurant with good food. Very fresh food with homemade fries & large meals! It is a perfect place to eat outside in the warm sun. The outside area can accommodate large groups and they even allow dogs on the patio

This place was awesome! I picked it based on the Unilocal reviews and it’s right on! The service did take a really long time but I think we just hit it at the wrong time. Even though it took a while to get our burgers, it was well worth the wait as they were some of the best burgers we ever had(we tried the green chile, pepper jack and bacon burger). The burgers are huge and plenty to share. It’s very casual(it is a bar) but everyone was very friendly. We’ll definitely be back!

Inferior not superior. Completely ignpred for 20 monutes, no water, no menus, no drinks, no acknowledgement at all. If ignorant is your interpretation of hick quirky then this is the place for you.

Food was good. Nothing great. Not many options in Superior so took what we could get. Had the chicken sandwich and veggie burger and they weren’t bad. The side salad was pretty plain though. But the Confederate, USSR and old Native American mascot flags were annoying. It was just in bad taste and the main reason for the low review. Even had to over hear some other patrons express their hidden racism when discussing the flags.

After a few hours at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum, we visited this little café on a whim! Fortunately, our decision was a great one! I decided on the Superior Burger and a couple of Bloody Mary’s! Needless to say, I left full! Friendly customer service and great food! When I’m back home in Arizona, I will be stopping here again!

It isn’t every day that a San Diegan makes there way out to Superior, AZ and so when I went I was looking for my fellow Unilocalers to help out with some local recommendations. My old lady was navigating while I was behind the wheel and said that Porter’s had good reviews and sounded like the best option. We were in town for some rock climbing but with rain and sub 40 degree weather, we decided to get some lunch and wait out the storm. When we walked in I was a little suspicious of the recs because it looked pretty basic. Then when I saw the menu I was even more wary of the place. The menu seemed very simple and didn’t have many vegetarian options except for a grilled cheese and a basic veggie burger(no real description). Our server was happy to help us and tell us about the great sounding jalapeño burger. We also noticed a few decent craft beer taps and I ordered a Dogfish head 90 minute IPA, my wife got a local beer. I decided to order the jalapeño burger with a veggie patty and didn’t get a confused look or warning of some random upcharge, so far so good. The burger that came out was awesome! Full of fresh green leaf lettuce, cucumbers, and jalapenos. It was missing the ‘fried jalapeño’ that was supposed to come on top, but oh well. The real star of the burger was the very crispy and filling veggie patty that was house made and super good. They really need to talk up there products a little more. For sides we had both the fries and a side salad. Both were delicious and fresh. The main theme is that while having a basic menu, they do an excellent job with all of it. Give the sun-tea a try too, super good.

Great service, really tasty food, and nice ambiance(on the patio). I had possibly the best BLT sandwich ever, along with macaroni salad(nice & dry, with great seasoning). I’d be super happy with this meal anywhere, but really happy to find it in the small town of Superior.

Visited August 2015: «Service was atrocious.» I came to Superior to spend time at the prickly pear festival, enjoy some quiet time with my family. We then found Porter’s Café for lunch. We had to sit outside because the bar was the length of the room and I did not feel comfortable with my child sitting in there. There was a shaded area, near large chess pieces in the back, and a brewing expo going on next to us. I saw no wait staff outside, but several people sitting at the other tables with alcoholic beverages. I went inside, and got a menu for us to look at. We made our decision, still no wait staff. I went back inside to the bar, and was told someone would be out there to take our order and that the kitchen didn’t open until 11 am(roughly 5 minutes). When I returned to the table, there was a gentleman outside taking a 5 person table’s order. I tried to motion him over to my area, and was told he’d be back. A few minutes later, he came back to take our drink order and our food order. We had to go slow so he could write everything down, but he did get the order correct. About 15 minutes later, our food came out. My son got a ham and fried egg sandwich that included mayo, tomato, and lettuce. I got a turkey sandwich with mayo, tomato, and lettuce. I added avocado and Swiss cheese for extra cost. Both of us decided to have fruit as our side. The bowl it came in was almost the size of the bowls I have at my home. It was full of green apples, bananas, and watermelon. I was half way through my meal, when I wanted to ask for another can of soda but our waiter was nowhere to be found. Several minutes went by before he reemerged from the café. He was taking other patrons orders and going back inside, not even acknowledging us. Thank goodness we had our water bottles to fall back on. We had finished our food, and I wanted to get the check and a take away box for my son’s sandwich — still no waiter. He finally comes back about 15 minutes later, and the couple next to us gets his attention for a refill on their drinks, and he walks away without asking if we need anything. He comes back and gets flagged by another table for their check and he finally buses their table. My young child is now getting antsy, and I tried to get his attention and he tells me that he will be back. This is when it dawns on me that he can only do one thing at a time. Over 20 minutes since we finished our meal, we had to cover our food so the flies wouldn’t get to it, that he comes back. He buses the table, and finally asks me how our meal was. I told him that the meal was good, and I would like a box and the check. He comes back quickly with the box and the check, but when I try to hand the check back to him with my debit card — he tells me that he will need to come back for it. Seriously? I understand that the place was packed but you can’t take the bill with you? He comes back and asks if I want to put a tip on it, which I declined because I don’t know if I want to leave a tip. I am not a person who does not feel comfortable not leaving a tip, but I also don’t think you should reward bad service. I looked at the cash I had left, and I know I did not leave 20% tip like I normally do. I think the service we received at the café left a sour taste in my mouth that we did not finish looking at what the festival had to offer, so we went home. I don’t know if I will give this place another try or not.

Porter’s Café in Superior is a small, town treasure. Locals from nearby Miami and Globe regularly frequent this relatively new establishment and tout its ambiance, food, friendliness of the wait staff and the generous potions served: especially the drinks! I had driven through Superior every Sunday for two years and until two weeks ago never made it to the town center, WOW! Superior really rocks! If rock & roll is your dish Porters serves it up, in spades! Several photos accompany…

This place is the reason to stop in Superior. The food is fantastic, atmosphere very comfortable and the wait staff extremely friendly. The Superior Burger is a must have. One of the BEST bacon burgers I’ve ever had. Will definitely stop in again the next time I’m at the Boyce Arboretum.
