First of all, let me say that I did not hire this guy. He was the home inspector for the buyer of our home that was recently sold. And while he seemed to do a pretty thorough job(only reason he is getting 2 stars) he was not only very rough on our house during its full rectal exam, he was not very knowledgeable in some areas. I mean when a guys says«how come your water supply to the refrigerator is not working?» and you have to point out that the child lock out on the refrigerator water dispenser needs to be unlocked, well you can guess what is to follow. Here are a few highlights(if you can call them that) of the inspection: When he was checking the swimming pool, he drained the jacuzzi with spill-over effect and was running air through the pump because he did not understand how the valves work. If he had only asked about valves, I would not be posting that here but he did not. I had to go out when I noticed no water in jacuzzi and fix valves for him(thank God I was home at time). He also marked us for a broken neutral bus bar in sub panel not understanding that it was broke on purpose and was in code because you do not need one in the sub panel, only the main panel. He was extremely rough on windows when opening them and we ended up having to replace balancing springs in four windows, all of which worked fine the last time we had used them(yes I am blaming him for breaking them). He did not properly shut a door to one of the air handlers in the attic which came open a week later and shut down AC system(because power is cut when door is open for safety’s sake). That cost me a service charge from a HVAC professional. Overall, while thorough, Hans did not demonstrate the respect that I think a homeowner deserves when having one of their most precious commodities inspected for sale. Add to that his lack of knowledge in certain areas, I would not recommend this guy. And if you have no choice, as was my case, follow him around like stink on a monkey.
