Smith’s Fort Plantation

This was a perfect ending to a great day out! Virginia Preservation Society has done an incredible job of bringing this place back to life! It’s free to see the grounds where the Fort was and walk the grounds and the gardens which is simply beautiful! The house looks incredible as well, however, having a good size group of little ones I didn’t get a chance to tour the interior of the home… but one day :)
So much history, I didn’t want the day to end! Though I didn’t get a chance to tour the beautiful home which has a pretty amazing story of its own, their was a wonderful worker who came out and shared a bit of history with us and gave us information on how to get to the site of Smith’s Fort. Which was definitely above and beyond since she didn’t need to do that on our behalf but did so none the less which was so very nice!
If your a Virginia Preservation member you can tour the house for free. However if your not, there is a cost involved and encourage you to check their website to find out current hours of operation and costs for adults and children!
